your 32....she is 13.....your HER MOTHER. fix the problem the old fashion way. beat her bratty little butt and lock her in her room. seriously if people have kids, KNOW HOW TO RAISE THEM. take a little responsability and take charge, dont take crap from a friggin THIRTEEN YEAR OLD CHILD!

seriously, if i breathed the wrong way when i was younger my mom wuld go foot to ass on me, then id have to wait in my room for my dad who would then also correct me. kids get away with so much bull**** because parents are SOFT

and forget all the high priced couseling and drs and meds and ****, a nice helping of foot to ass will be more then enough medication
It's about time someone said the real truth as what she should do.

Counselors do a hell of alot more good than than "a foot to the ass". The thought of such abuse to my child makes me cringe.

take her to theropy and become part of the problem this country is heading for. Have her pop some pills that in 10 or maybe earlier will harm her worse than a kick in the seat of her pants. And she will have kids at like 14 or 15 and keep the chain going on and on.

You don't know that. My daughter went to therapy at 13 because she was sucicidal. I don't think beating her would have made her feel better. She is almost 18 now and does not have any kids yet. Please think about people's feelings before you say things.

Mine was too, believe me. She needed medication. People do what they think is best for their kids and when they reach out for help, they don't need blame. I imagine she blames herself enough.

I think there are many people who could benefit from therapy; in particular, the ones who think the best way to deal with a hurting child is violence.

I was brought up the old fashioned way and when I got out of control or sassy I got the "LOOK" and that was enough for me. I find it way to easy for kids now adays to take over there parents and run there lives.

Maybe I was to harsh on these people here, but I'm tired of people saying go to theropy.

Why? Some people require therapy. Actually, quite a few.
It has helped many people. And it does not mean that they take pills. And if medicines help them, where lies the problem?

Just because something was done in the past, doesn't make it the "right way".

Recently (while traveling) I read in a magazine about a boarding school that specialized in "troubled girls" it's not like a scaled down juvie- the residents attend daily therapy and coaching sessions, and must earn all privilages- even going for a walk alone.

The story I read was about a teen who sounds a lot like your daughter- the parents put her there b/c they did not want to take her out of school but, they (and she) needed help. Now the girl is attending community college (after graduating) and says that going to the school was hard at first, but it saved her life and by the time she graduated she was sorry to see it leave.

I wish I knew the name but, I'm sure if you look it up you'll be able to find it.

Good luck.

P.S. I never went to jail- but I put my mother through hell, I really had to grow out of it. But, all I really wanted was to stop getting in trouble and for one day my mom to say, "it's ok, I love you, lets go hang out." But, of course I was always in trouble so mom was always mad.

That's just my story.

I hope everything turns out well.

The old fashioned way you refer to is parenting out of fear.

i just went thru this 2 yrs ago mija..except it was my son.. he assaulted me physically and verbally, however the depth of that issue with him ran far deep then i ever realized.. i found out something happened to him and the man who did it is serving a life sentence for it.. that man will never see the mother earth again let alone smell freedom.
not saying that is your daughter's issue but, you need to dig deep and get her into counsiling...
don't let her continue mija... contact me anytime you want, i am here for you...
take care... linda

It is fortunate that our lives are coloured by the variety of different personalities and different opinions but how unfortunate that the opinions are turned to judgment pointed to a person who actually desperately is reaching out for help and in the name of opinion people attack her . I don't know this lady the behaviour of some members from this forum has left me with the profound impression of sadness which is unfortunate.
