Topic: I officially HATE cops

I see no debating. I see no awe-inspiringly intelligently written material. I do see a great deal of whining over a relatively inconsequential act. Go Go Uber Debater.

Do you even read? I didn't come here to ***** about the police. I came here to argue the fact that you all think the victims deserved what happened.

If you think you are a great debater... I suggest you read a few books on the subject....

Also another thing that was taken and twisted. I wasn't even talking to you when I made that statement.

Irrelevant. It doesn't matter one whit who you made the statement to, the statement, fallacious as it was, still has been made.

I also find it almost humorous (read: ALMOST) that most people in this thread can't conceive that in this ONE case, in this ONE city, this ONE time that the department could have POSSIBLY handled the situation incorrectly. If you truly believe that cops are infallible than you are naive.

I find it almost humorous that after your aspersions cast on the ability of people to read can't comprehend that most people here have said that there are some good and some bad cops.

Actually what you did was commit a classic logical flaw, called making a straw man argument. I don't see a dingle person here saying ALL cops are perfect, yet you've stated that most of the posters on this thread have done just that.

Go Go Uber Debater.

Woo Hoo. Another fallacy. We "ALL" do not think the victims deserved what happened. I, for one, never made that statement.

My whole reason for posting in this thread wasn't to attack the police officers at all. It had nothing to do with that.

I posted here because people were basically saying that they deserved to get their **** stolen, for leaving it in the car. Lily included.

Don't twist my words I NEVER SAID THAT.... My whole entire point was to look at it from a different perspective.... Not just that of an angry 20 year old who blows things out of proprotion...( I WAS AN ANGRY 20 YEAR OLD WHO BLEW THINGS OUT OF PROPORTION, SO I CERTAINLY KNOW ONE WHEN I SEE ONE)

No one deserves to have anything stolen from them EVER, but to act as if the cops had nothing better to do that night than pick on a bunch of kids....is simply proposterous.. What if someone was getting robbed at gunpoint at that very second you were on the phone with them...wouldn't you want them to go take care of that situation first, after all no one in your party was in eminant danger.

Did you think there was going to be an all points bulletin about your stolen car, and an OJ type chase to retreive it?

So the cops were rude...maybe they were... I'll personally take rudeness over not doing their jobs any day of the week.

And if you are so dead set that I am against you, and attacking you... I highly doubt the cops were all that rude to you. JMO

It's quite relevant. I was talking to you by saying that you had made no valid points.

If she states that she made a valid point, nobody cares because I wasn't saying that she didn't.

I also find it almost humorous (read: ALMOST) that most people in this thread can't conceive that in this ONE case, in this ONE city, this ONE time that the department could have POSSIBLY handled the situation incorrectly. If you truly believe that cops are infallible than you are naive.

Go Go Uber Debater.

And I never said that a single person here said ALL cops are perfect either. What I actually said was:

"I also find it almost humorous (read: ALMOST) that most people in this thread can't conceive that in this ONE case, in this ONE city, this ONE time that the department could have POSSIBLY handled the situation incorrectly. If you truly believe that cops are infallible than you are naive."

Meaning that nobody in this thread believed that this SPECIFIC case was handled in correctly.

I then went to state that "If you truly believe that cops are infallible than you are naive." Which is more of a general statement than directly aimed at anybody.

"Woo Hoo. Another fallacy. We "ALL" do not think the victims deserved what happened. I, for one, never made that statement."

How about instead of searching wikipedia for logical fallacies you realize that it was a general statement based on the scanning of the thread, with enough of the supposed opinion occurring for me to make a general statement in reference to those involved.

If it bothers you that much, I'll change the word "all" to "the majority".

By the way "Go Go Uber Debater." only makes you sound like you're 12.

Don't twist my words I NEVER SAID THAT

But now people are placing blame on the VICTIMS for leaving things in THEIR CAR? It's a sad world where people blame the VICTIMS OF A CRIME FOR LEAVING THEIR OWN BELONGINGS IN A LOCKED CAR.

YES. sort of...

All they had to say was that we needed to find a way to get to the station.

They didn't have to act like we were making a prank call, or hang up on us.

I agree.

Although if it's of SOME peoples opinions that they deserved to get robbed, than I can only hope that those people suffer the same losses, so they can see how it feels.

Perhaps it'll inspire a little humanity.

I'm not disrespecting anybodies right to have an opinion. I'm simply arguing that the facts that they base their opinion off are incorrect, and thusly they should rethink their opinion.

Edit:

All she did was post a rant, and everybody jumped up her ass.

Cops can and do make mistake, some more fatal than others and some just downright hilarious. It happens, they are human, we are human, just as we make mistakes so must they. Humanity died with the 60's. You didn't get beat, shot, or tazed, you are alright; your friends did not get beat, shot, or tazed, they as far as I know are alright. Cars get stolen daily, I'm sure it is quite annoying for both police and the victim; however an officer's actions should be professional like, again, they are only human.

I agree, it was probably a one off situation, and she just needed to rant and cool off. All I'm saying is the attacks on her were unnecessary.

Edit: Once again, she didn't bring all cops into it. The first sentence in this topic narrowed it down to Providence Cops. :P

Also, it was a rant, a venting, sure she used a strong word but one would figure people could understand anger.

OPINIONS we all have them, like them or NOT.

This is an open forum, where ALL opinions can be stated.
