I was trained to identify mental illness so that is about as factual as it gets but look it up, it is there for all to read. Trained by who? The Social Services Department? So that makes you a certified expert on mental illness? Don't make me laugh. |

They had a story about this woman in the paper Sunday who has had 12 kids and a grandmother before the age of 31. She says she made some bad choices like partying drinking yet it is against her religious values to use contraception. This woman has no car depends on welfare pay for clothing ,food and rent but she said if she had a choice she would rather work. Isn't there a point where government should step in and say no more you are taking advantage of the welfare system?  I think all kids are a burden and I wish my tax dollars didnt got to support them.

why is it today everytime someone does something they have some kind of a mental illness, or we have to blame there parents. Do you think maybe for once someone can take charge of there own life and say I messed it up all by myself. its simple I go shoot someone and they die it is murder. no wait i have 32 outs to get me off the hook from blaming my parent to the nuns that wacked me in school if that doesn't work let me say that i was mentally unstable cause my dog bit me yesterday Oh wait that won't work I can get 32 doctors to march across the stand and say the allergy medicine I was taking made me that way what the heck call it straight she did what she did you want to give her a crutch to do it again or say step up now and take charge I agree, caam, but a person who is mentally ill cannot take presonal responsiblity for themselves as they are incapable. I am not giving her a crutch, I am saying if she recieves help first then she will be able to function as a normal contributing member of society. It is obvious she is mentally challenged. |

Sorry missed the factual information. Just conjecture of laziness which is also a sign of mental illness if you look it up. But you have the right to your opinion however unhelpful it may be. Unlike you... I do not choose to be insulting. Just factual. I do not assume others have no experience or knowledge, but I do find it interesting when they make assumptions with little or no information. About me, about the woman in the article... I have no need to look up signs of mental illness. I work in mental health.. do you? I don't read blogs or google symptoms to fit into my arguments. I know what I see and see every day. As well as I know what I saw when I was a welfare caseworker. I know my opinions and my experiences. I choose not to assume what yours are. I negate only your assumptions. Not your opinions. I do not state what I think, is a fact. |

I actually don't have a problem with helping them...but not supporting them. the parents are responsible for supporting them..not the government. welfare should be to HELP |

I worked with a lady who kept gatting pregnant on purpose so she could stop working in between & collect fed funds. Makes me sick!!

But you even said most addicts say She says she made some bad choices like partying drinking yet it is against her religious values to use contraception. so therefore...since she admits her bad choices but you now say the mentally ill can not take personally responsibility...then she isn't mental ill by your definition btw...I do know about mental illness first hand as well. |

ok...let me give you another example that most already know about.
I have eating disorders. it's an addiction. do I use it as a crutch to let others support me? NO. I take my own responsibilty for the disease as well as my blood disease. Until I'm bed ridden like my sister...I can work |

I will not buy into the prejudices surrounding welfare as most of it is racially based and ignorant to begin with. This lady is obviouly not well. People don't do this who are well. So it is obvious. What the problems are, I would have to assess her and find them but I would know just from the information given on the OP that there are issues. If you chose not to care, that is your business. I do care for the mentally challenged and fully out and out ill who are undercared for in our society. They show up like she did. Outrageous situations with no obvious reason for it. Sometimes it is more tragic when it shows up but they are all showing need of mental care. I am sharing my knowledge. People can take it or leave it. I just share that is all I can do. If it enlightens some then good if not then no skin off my nose. |

This lady is obviouly not well. Your opinion. People don't do this who are well. Your assumption. So it is obvious. Your assertion. What the problems are, I would have to assess her and find them but I would know just from the information given on the OP that there are issues. Your opinion. So much for being factual. |
