The mentally ill are the most under diagnosed and under treated people in this country. Mentally ill people do not know they have problems so they attempt to live normal lives but are unable. If we could identify, diagnose and treat these people the welfare system and other systems would have great relief. This is proven fact. So dismiss the mentally ill as most do but the systems of help will see no relief from this outlook.

Would like to see your proof this is a proven fact. And I'd like to point out no one is dismissing the mentally ill. We are simply disagreeing that the women in the story is obviously mentally ill because she had 12 kids.

Are you aware you are arguing with yourself? Really....

I am not arguing at all. Pointing out facts as I know them from working as a welfare casemanger and working with these clients.

now lilth that is a silly thing to say

no one without knowing this particular person can say

this person is

statistically speaking tho

it is a high possibility that such is the issue

i did a search

search link is listed plenty of aticles if you really want tho see them

Adj... I am not the one saying she is mentally ill. I'm saying she is not "obviously" mentally ill, as the poster in question is (to whom I am referring).

Is is NOT a high probability that is "such the issue". Reading articles won't educate you. Sorry. I have no need for them.

I agree with most of this post. Don't think I dismiss mental illness. If someone is on assistance it needs to be addressed before they have 12 kids.

Actually I am sure she is mentally ill. I would die of shame if I were her!

I am blessed to live with my sisters family so I can help her and the family out and make it easier for them. My sister can't afford her meds and I would love to go to work even if it's just to pay for her meds. I know first hand what the state allows. My sister is bed ridden and had to fight tooth and nail to even get any help when I have seen...first hand...people who simply don't want to work no matter what they receive. no this isn't everyone...but it happens. My aunt was on welfare in CO and part of their program was to train people. after she got training in computer technician and it was time for her to work....she decided she didn't want to do that...and went to another state for welfare. I KNOW it happens. does she have a mental illness because she doesn't want to work? couldn't we say everyone n the world has a mental illness about something? not everyone with a mental illness says admits to it, unless they have help or reaching out for help. at that point part of it is not not use a mental illness as a crutch. Unless you are SERIOUSLY ill...it shouldn't be an excuse

Sorry I lack computer skills I have been working my whole life and sacrificed college so my kid could go & hold her head high because she was not raised on welfare. I know my typing is bad too. The irony is my daughtr is an editor for a major paper. I wonder what her 12 kids will grow up to be?

I would prefer some peer reviewed scientific research myself, but meh.

actually if one is working or able to work then they are not eligible for disability

regardless of what is wrong with them

that is more than likely why it takes years to get approved
if you survive the time frame without working then you may get approved

they must figure if you do not work instead you are disabled in one way or another

my sister was on a morphine drip and had a permanent port in her for IVs. she was always in the hospital. it was a tooth and nail fight that took years

You can be severely disabled from a stroke and apply for Social Security Disability. But..you will be denied it the first time you apply. It is automatic. Then you appeal it.
That seems to be standard procedure.

it went on for years to the point they had to take it to court

She says she made some bad choices like partying drinking yet it is against her religious values to use contraception.

that was in the OP's post. She was mentally aware enough to know she made bad choices.

All addicts say this. I would have to assess her to be sure but she has mental health issues. It is obvious.

but now you say they don't realize it? And NO not ALL addicts say this. most say this when they are reaching out for help with the illness or after treatment

Sorry missed the factual information. Just conjecture of laziness which is also a sign of mental illness if you look it up. But you have the right to your opinion however unhelpful it may be.

why is it today everytime someone does something they have some kind of a mental illness, or we have to blame there parents.

Do you think maybe for once someone can take charge of there own life and say I messed it up all by myself.

its simple I go shoot someone and they die it is murder.

no wait i have 32 outs to get me off the hook
from blaming my parent to the nuns that wacked me in school
if that doesn't work let me say that i was mentally unstable cause my dog bit me yesterday
Oh wait that won't work I can get 32 doctors to march across the stand and say the allergy medicine I was taking made me that way

what the heck call it straight she did what she did you want to give her a crutch to do it again or say step up now and take charge

I was trained to identify mental illness so that is about as factual as it gets but look it up, it is there for all to read.
