The PMS Defense
|
|
In 1970, when Dr. Edgar Berman said women’s hormones during menstruation and menopause could have a detrimental influence on women’s decision making, feminists were outraged. He was soon served up as the quintessential example of medical male chauvinism. But by the 1980s, some feminists were saying that PMS was the reason a woman who deliberately killed a man should go free. In England, the PMS defense freed Christine English after confessed to killing her boyfriend by deliberately ramming him into a utility pole with her car; and after killing a co-worker, Sandie Smith was put on probation – with one condition: she must report monthly for injections of progesterone to control symptoms of PMS. By the 1990s, the PMS defense paved the way for other hormonal defenses. Sheryl Lynn Massip could place her 6-month-old son under a car, run over him repeatedly, and then, uncertain he was dead, do it again, then claim postpartum depression and be given outpatient medical help. No feminist protested. I've always been of the opinion that any woman, that isn't insane, can control her emotions and her reactions to others. However the above statement suggests otherwise. If a woman can clam PMS as a defense for murder I have to question voting for any woman in an election. I'm reminded of a quote in the movie, "Summer School" ... Pam is looking out the window, checking out the waves and then exclaims she's having "female issues" and leaves to go surfing. "Dave" (Chainsaw's friend) mentions something to the effect of, "man, women have it made ...". |

well, still frezing [sic] Have you run a RAM-check utility? If not, I suggest memtest ... http://www.memtest.org/ downloads ... http://www.memtest.org/#downiso My guess is you'll want this one: http://www.memtest.org/download/4.00/memtest86+-4.00.iso.zip Unzip it, then burn the ISO image to a CD, reboot (make sure your machine is set to boot initially from a CD), then run it to check your RAM. (I have another suggestion, but will save it until after the RAM test is done). |

This is not very helpful... You can't expect a flood of responses in only 20 minutes time. I'd say the majority of folks out here work during normal business hours. |

Avoiding The Boss

My former boss is really leaving me and us in the lurch, plus he is being lazy and selfish. So, I'm not taking his calls. [snipped] What, specifically, entails "lazy and selfish"? Leaving y'all in a lurch? How, because of the mere fact that he's leaving? Or not participating? My boss looked for another position even before he took over. Then he hid it from the courts and gave only two weeks. He was then upset it took lonher than two weeks to find a replacement for him. He agreed to stay on as a figurehead, so to speak, but in his mind he was doing everyone a favor. He has done very little work, but is still taking in his full salary. I do most of his job. He moved out of town. He is now refusing to take a case a few miles away from him due to "personal obligations" despite the fact he lives two hours from here now. So, he wants to do the case after he is no longer the boss plus bill per hour to do it. He has done nothing to earn his full salary. His reasons are personal for not taking it, and he wants me to empathize. So, he's getting (take home) around 4500 a month to do nothing, won't take a case that's due the 16th and wants to bill us hourly to do it after? It's unanimous ... I wouldn't talk to him either :) |

This photo is a "slight improvement" over the last one, but
*only* a slight improvement. You might want to browse other profiles to get a sense of what works. Post multiple photos so folks can get a sense of "who you are" through the use of photos, "a picture is worth a 1,000 words". My guess is you're trying to create an air of mystery, to entice responses. But men are visual animals and will want to see clear photos of you, not ambiguous photos. Also, expand your profile description - there's not much there (I'm probably guilty of it too :) |

Seafood Crepes.
Crepe batter 1 1/2 cups milk 3/4 cup flour 2 eggs 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 teaspoon sugar A pinch of salt 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg Seafood mix 1/4 cup chopped onions 1 tbsp Cajun spice 1/2 cup chopped green onions 1 tbsp flour 1 1/4 cups cream (I use light half-n-half) 1/2 cup lump crabmeat 2 pounds medium shrimp (I use Gulf shrimp of course) I fix the seafood mix first, then turn to the crepes Seafood mix: Place the minced onions in a 9 inch skillet and slightly brown ... throw in the Cajun seasoning. Next, add the butter. This will take about 3 minutes total. Just as the butter has just about melted, add the cream and bring to a boil. Reduce heat. (Prepare the crepes now - directions follow) Bring the heat back to medium high, then add the shrimp, then the crab. Remember, shrimp will cook quickly, so dont over do it. After you've added the shrimp and crab, let it cook for about 2 minutes, then cover and remove from the heat. Crepes: Toss the milk, eggs, oil, sugar, nutmeg and salt and blend with a whisk. Add a bit of the flour, bit by bit, until well blended, but do not over do it. Lightly oil an 9-inch non-stick skillet and wipe it with a paper towel so the pan appears to be shiny. Pour enough batter so that the skillet is *just* covered. Wait a one minute or so, till the batter is "dry", then flip it over and let sit for a minute or so. Remove Do this over and over until you have enough crepes for all your servings. Most adults will probably want 2 servings each: |

I've heard that Joyce DeWitt (she plays Janet, right?) was a major ***** in real life. Anybody wanna' come have a drink at the Regal Beagle. I LOVE 3's Company! From the Wikipedia: "Years later, DeWitt would reveal that she turned her back on Hollywood and show business because of the disrespectful treatment she received from the producers of Three's Company." Obviously, that doesn't reveal her true personality in person, but maybe that's why she's accused of being a **** in real life :) I also read on the Wikipedia page that "On July 4, 2009", she was arrested for DUI. Anyway, I still prefer he character. Much like I prefer "Mary Ann" over "Ginger" (as much as I love redheads) on Gilligan's Island. |

No offense intended....but you should try to find a better pic of yourself. Agreed. The photo isn't very appealing. |

Believe it or not, I have my DVR set to record all episodes of
Three's Company and am watching one now (the one where Jack and Chrissy are in the kitchen with a puppy dog). Going against the grain, I prefer Janet - she has more substance. Chrissy might be fun for a while, but I can see her (in real life) getting "boring" pretty quick. |

We have a few inches of snow thus far and looking at a bunch more. What's it like where you live? Yesterday, about 4pm, it was sunny and 18* c (65*f). Right now, at 6am, it's 5*c (41*f) and clear, and with a high pressure system in the area, that means the surf will be down :( |

The findings of Bruce Hood, professor of developmental psychology at Bristol University, suggest that magical and supernatural beliefs are hardwired into our brains from birth, [snipped] Hard-wired? Only if a person were taught "that" from the beginning. Imagine a person who is raised in the backwoods without any sort of religious influence, how would that person "know" of it? |

first off, texts are really easy to misunderstand. If you like this girl, CALL her and explain, then leave it alone for a little while. It'll work out, or it won't, but that's life. I completely agree ... what has happened to the younger generation? Can they *ONLY* communicate via text-messaging? For goodness sakes, get on the phone (i.e. voice) or better yet, get together in person and talk it over. How do you expect a relationship to blossom if you can't get face-to-face and really talk ?!?!? |

Remove each RAM module and re-seat it. Most unanswered
issues with a "freezing" computer are related to improperly seated memory module(s). It could also be mismatched RAM modules, if you've added RAM recently. To further this, when you remove the module, take a pencil erasure and rub it against the gold contacts and follow up with a lint-less cloth to remove any erasure rubber bits left behind, then install the RAM module back. The first question I always ask when someone is experiencing something like this is, "what have you done or changed on your machine recently?" |
