TV change social rules? There are people that think that Tom Hanks produceing a TV program in Canada promoteing poligamy is going to make it acceptable enough to be come legal. Agree? Why? Disagree? Why? TV has dumbed-down society, most esp in the US. It used to be an information medium, with entertainment thrown in. Now it's mostly "entertainment" with information thrown in. Sure, we have the science-type channels, but even they have the "reality shows". Heck, even the "news" media has turned their "reporting" into entertainment with all the flash. Please. The reality shows are what's screwed it up - it's all scripted - life isn't scripted. How is that reality? It's all about the sell. The kids watch it and think that's the way it is. |

Swine Flu!!!!

They just closed all the public school in my area because of swine flu..... But my kid has mono!!!!!! I'm told the hype is over-rated. Check the CDC website. I was at the VA a couple of weeks ago and the nurses told me they've had ZERO cases of H1N1. You can imagine how many people go through the VA hospital in a week, or in a month (we're talking about the Houston VA). I have 3 teens, who all had flu symptoms recently; all tested (the "quick" test) and only one tested positive, and the [private] doctor said that test is unreliable. The VA nurse told me what we're seeing is a seasonal flu. It IS over rated. The CDC stopped testing for H1N1 a long while back, unless it's a very serious case. The link I posted above tells a lot more. Thanks, hellkitten54 ... my daughter is at a college in Texas and they literally shut down the whole town because of a "flu epidemic" ... turns out it's good-ol' regular flu. The media had nothing else to report on, so exposed this as some "epidemic" (of which it was not). |

But the hype with swine flu...isn't it convenient that it coincides with a massive health care reform? I mean who is NOT getting the vaccinations? probably those that can't afford them/don't have health insurance but if you don't get it you may die..but they can't afford it so why wouldn't they vote for a healthcare reform? I just think it is over-hyped for a political agenda...bet you it will calm down all of the sudden once every thing is official with the health care bill.Of course they will say it is because of the vaccinations..but I know it is because they will stop covering it on the nightly news and the mass herd of followers that we have become will listen and go along with it passively talking about how 'lucky' we were to get the vaccination etc etc etc.... If we want to go that route, then I say it's all about the media. Which is incredibly believable. I'm not sure it's tied to the political agenda (just so we're clear, I'm a Demo) for the Health Care Reform. Personally, I think it's the media going overboard, AGAIN. |

1. How many tattoos do you have? if any? 2. What was the significance of what you got? I have 5. An upper back-piece (Lion); a white tiger on the left upper arm; a mystic on the upper right arm; a mermaid (about 1.5 feet tall) on my left hip area; a hieroglyphics style on right-lower-leg. http://online.homelinux.org/tt1.html |

So the rumor that Canadians are nice suddenly became a myth :) I know some who are very nice. Dont get me wrong, I wasnt implying Canadians aren't. I was involved with a Canadian for quite a while and cant say enough positive things about them. Obviously, whatsherblondename isnt [nice, Canadian or not], which was my point :) |

am lonely again. You know how it goes: You can be alone and you can be lonely, but the two should never meet. When they do meet, it gets to be a big mess. Why not call a friend up and go to a movie and get your mind off of things. There's a number of other things for you to do. The key is to get a friend to involved and you'll gloss over the lonely part. Eventually, and when you least expect it, something will happen, and this will pass. |

"It depends".
Don't ya just love that answer :) But again, it will matter in some respects. The biggest obstacle would be mutual intellect. In other words, being able to talk about various subject matter where both people can relate and contribute. It would be tiring to have a one-way conversation all the time. Having common interests dont always count. Eventually, if the conversation dies, the relationship will most likely faulter at some point. There's always been this unwritten understanding that younger woman date/marry older men, especially at a younger age, because, believe it or not, men mature later :) My own personal experience: my first wife (deceased) was 10 years younger than me; my second, 7 years. A recent long term relationship - she was 11 years younger. Maybe that says I'm 10 years less mature? :) I think it's more about my attitude. I dated a woman that was 22 years younger than me - it lasted a very short time because of what I mentioned about the mutual intellect. Cheers! |
