If it gets too bad, there will be like a sort of revolution within people's thinking, like collectively, so hold on, sister, because it has to get real bad before that happens.

I always hold on! Its the pioneer spirit from my Mom :o)

We all do the best we can with what we've got and he sure proved he is a man of God and did nothing tabloid-worthy!! People are so eager to focus on the negatives, it's only right to also turn to the positives his presidency also brought.

He's going into a house just about 15 miles from where I live. It's so odd thinking the Bushes will be that close by.

I would like to see any of the naysayers step into that job for one day....

drinker ...

Well its those so called "naysayers" that got Obama in there.

again - I am not talking about Obama - it is an incredibly difficult job for anyone who assumes the office. You don't know what will transpire during your term, you don't know who truly supports you, you have to make instantaneous decisions that affect millions of people, and you have to get up every day and do it again. It has often been said that until the new president sits behind the desk for the first time, they really don't feel the full weight of the responsibility they hold. Could YOU do the job?

Respect along with Morals seems to be a dying breed.....noway whoa

yes...because we are becoming the country (world?) of compromise rather than a place where integrity has value.

I respect everybody until they give me a reason not to. Unfortunately far too many have given me that reason.

One way to deal with those feelingsis to look for someone else who is probably hurting or distrustful and build them up. That's the way the world will truly become a more civilized place.

unfortunatly it seems some people beleive you have to earn respect.
it is sad that everyone just doesnt show respect to all. It would make the world a better place

and many people confuse the word "respect" with "support" or "agree with"

With every day that goes by, it seems the idea of respect in our country, communities, and online exchanges is dwindling to a lost art form.

~ Respect for ideas that are different.

~ Respect for people who are different.

~ Respect to EVERYONE in public discourse.

~ Respect without judgement for those who are down on their luck.

~ Respect for our elders.

~ Respect for the ill and infirm, no matter how they got to that point.

~ Respect for life in all forms.

~ A healthy respect for our enemies.

~ Respect and regard for our bodies, keeping them clean and wholesome as well as healthy. And keeping access to them a private thing, in person, with only someone we love.

~ Respect for our own privacy...why are we sharing every detail of our personal lives with the world at large, instead of with treasured people in real time and in person?

~ Respect for thoughtful, intelligent commentary instead of media sensationalized sound bites.

~ Respect for the wisdom of experience.

~ Respect for people of all beliefs or no particular belief system.

~ Respect shown in the form of common manners and keeping foul language in the locker room.

~ Respect shown by turning your cell phone off every once in a while and noticing the people around and across the table from you....and talking quietly when you DO have to be on it.

~ Respect for the office of President of the United States, no matter the occupant.

Much of the tension in our country could be solved by just saying "YES" to respect!

Thank you Mr BUsh for forever makeing the republican party worthless. We americans will never forget what you have done to our country and never forgive you. Your name will go down in history with that of Hitler and Vidkun Quisling.

Those that are making the Party worthless are our Senators and Congressmen who with the exception of a very few refuse to stand up for anything.

What has happened to respect in our country? Why does the very mention of this man's name bring such hatred and yet the mention of an inexperienced, waffling, please everyone and stand for nothing junior senator from crooked Chicago brings veneration?

I wish Mr Obama the very best because I was raised to respect the office of the Presidency. I hope he will be able to live up to the incredibly lofty expectations he has raised.

Dear President Bush,

I want to thank you and your family, including your brother Jeb, your father and your mother for years of dedicated service in trying to protect and defend what is right about America.

We are a very young country in the midst of what might be compared to a late 20's rebellion if we were talking about a person. We want to tell our parents that they don't know anything about the way the world really is and we want to change it to suit us. Really we want to change it so that we are just like the "cool people" instead of remaining the shining individual that God made us.

Thank you for standing up in the face of the onslaught of "me-ism" and "isolationism" to say we don't have to agree with or please everyone and for taking up your primary responsibility every day with vigilance...to protect the people of the United States from attacks from without and within.

Thank you for being an honorable man, a faithful husband and a good father through it all.

You indeed will be able to look in that mirror in the new house in Texas and be pleased with what you see.

Did you please everyone? No. Is God pleased with you? Yes. And He is the only one that matters. The creator of the universe has more work waiting for you.

PS - I hope Jeb will reconsider a Florida Senate seat or some other leadership down the road.

I'm glad football is on, because there is nothing much else on and I can't watch the news right now ...

Something about the news you don't want to see?

hmm..how to say it without causing offense...I can appreciate the historic impact of this election...but the worshipfest is just way over the top. The man will have a very hard time meeting the huge expectations he has built up in people. I remember when inauguarals were one day events. All the Lincoln comparisons are wearing on me.

I do have to agree! I am tired of this already.
Why spend this amount of money on this when people are loosing their jobs and homes. To me this is a sad day!

THanks HG...I too wonder what else all these celebs could be doing with their $$$. And I wonder about many other things to come. Was hesitant to say anything here cause you guys like to keep it lighthearted.

The reason I said this, we just had a major Virginia based company go belly up. There are going to be thousands without jobs...I cry everytime I see the foreclosure signs. Is this really happening? Where are all these families going?what

I know...it is incredibly sad
