Dear President Bush,

I want to thank you and your family, including your brother Jeb, your father and your mother for years of dedicated service in trying to protect and defend what is right about America.

We are a very young country in the midst of what might be compared to a late 20's rebellion if we were talking about a person. We want to tell our parents that they don't know anything about the way the world really is and we want to change it to suit us. Really we want to change it so that we are just like the "cool people" instead of remaining the shining individual that God made us.

Thank you for standing up in the face of the onslaught of "me-ism" and "isolationism" to say we don't have to agree with or please everyone and for taking up your primary responsibility every day with vigilance...to protect the people of the United States from attacks from without and within.

Thank you for being an honorable man, a faithful husband and a good father through it all.

You indeed will be able to look in that mirror in the new house in Texas and be pleased with what you see.

Did you please everyone? No. Is God pleased with you? Yes. And He is the only one that matters. The creator of the universe has more work waiting for you.

PS - I hope Jeb will reconsider a Florida Senate seat or some other leadership down the road.

all of the sarcasm is not necessary. I was simply expressing something I feel. Maybe I need to add the article I wrote on respect.

The only good thing Bush ever did was be such a terrible president that people would actually vote in a black man

We all do the best we can with what we've got and he sure proved he is a man of God and did nothing tabloid-worthy!! People are so eager to focus on the negatives, it's only right to also turn to the positives his presidency also brought.

He's going into a house just about 15 miles from where I live. It's so odd thinking the Bushes will be that close by.

Thank you Mr BUsh for forever makeing the republican party worthless. We americans will never forget what you have done to our country and never forgive you. Your name will go down in history with that of Hitler and Vidkun Quisling.

Those that are making the Party worthless are our Senators and Congressmen who with the exception of a very few refuse to stand up for anything.

What has happened to respect in our country? Why does the very mention of this man's name bring such hatred and yet the mention of an inexperienced, waffling, please everyone and stand for nothing junior senator from crooked Chicago brings veneration?

I wish Mr Obama the very best because I was raised to respect the office of the Presidency. I hope he will be able to live up to the incredibly lofty expectations he has raised.

Yes I took Dan's comment to mean that President Bush was so horrible that EVEN a conservative American public would vote in a black man as a President for the FIRST time in history. Is that how you meant the comment Dan? Thats how I interpreted it. Everyone calm down. Take a deep breath. bigsmile

again - I am not talking about Obama - it is an incredibly difficult job for anyone who assumes the office. You don't know what will transpire during your term, you don't know who truly supports you, you have to make instantaneous decisions that affect millions of people, and you have to get up every day and do it again. It has often been said that until the new president sits behind the desk for the first time, they really don't feel the full weight of the responsibility they hold. Could YOU do the job?

That's how I understood it, I didn't see it as a racist remark at all, I have said it in another thread.
Bush's legacy is Obama. People hate him so much, they were willing to give a black man a chance.

Which is awesome. I would hope even the conservative Bush supporters could at least be on board with it from that perspective. It is a historic moment in this nation's history.

The main reason Obama was elected because Bush Jr. was the worst president to have ever held the Office of the Presidency.

And one of his last acts was to help bail out corporations that are supposedly 'too big to fail'.

What a waste of the taxpayers money just to give corporate welfare to these fat cats.

Those corporate swine (and others) have been given money at the expense of average taxpayers the whole time Bush Jr. was in office.

Little wonder, considering that one of the stockholders of Halliburton and a former executive held the Office of Vice President.

Why he wasn't thrown out of office for conflict of interest is one of the main mysteries of this Administration.

George w. Bush’s gift to the American Republic may be that he has discredited a host of right-wing theories and practices – “trickle-down economics” “selfregulating markets” “tough-guy” foreign policy; the “imperial presidency”; and the notion that “government is the problem.”
Now and forever more this vile BS is put to rest

Have fun bashing guys. I really did not put this up as a persuasion piece or as a debate. Simply as a thank you note. I'm sorry you cannot accept it as such and feel you have to denigrate my views.

best of luck to you
