You might think that some faith group must have grown during the last thirty years, and you’d be right: atheists and nonbelievers more than doubled in the eleven years between 1990 and 2001, from 14 million to 29 million: from 8% of the country to 14%. There are more than twice as many atheists and nonbelievers as there are evangelical Christians.[6] And since it’s hard to believe that all atheists/nonbelievers would be willing to confess that to pollsters, the number is probably much higher. From 2000 to 2005, church attendance fell in all fifty states.[7] Oh stop the presses!29 million atheists .You only have 2,971,000,000 before you are equal to Christianity.Evangelical Christians are part of Protestantism which has 670 million members. I will admit that church attendance has been falling quite dramaticly all over the United states and will probably keep dropping. The main reason this is happening is because the churches have become gutless on extremely important issues such as homosexuality,Islam, our Government and other issues. The churches are not telling the Christians what we want to hear and because of that reason we are either finding churches that are telling us what we want to hear or we are not going. This does not make us any less Christians. You will find Christianity is growing by leaps and bounds despite lower church attendance.I know myself I don't attend church on a regular basis but I listen to the word of God on the radio of my car every day I drive it. |

A federal jury convicted Ahmed Ghailani of one count of conspiracy to destroy U.S. property and acquitted him on more than 280 other counts, including one murder count for each of the 224 people killed in the embassy bombings. The anonymous jurors deliberated over seven days. Ghailani, 36, rubbed his face, smiled and hugged his lawyers after the jurors filed out of the courtroom. U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan had thanked the jury, saying the outcome showed that justice "can be rendered calmly, deliberately and fairly by ordinary people — people who are not beholden to any government, even this one." In a statement, Department of Justice spokesman Matthew Miller said U.S. officials "respect the jury's verdict" and are "pleased" that Ghailani faces a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of life in prison at sentencing on Jan. 25. U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement that Ghailani "will face, and we will seek, the maximum sentence of life without parole." Defense attorney Peter Quijano welcomed the acquittals. He said the one conviction would be appealed. "We still truly believe he is innocent of all these charges," Quijano said. Still, Ghailani, who could have faced a mandatory life sentence if convicted of some of the other counts, "believed he got a fair trial," he added. Prosecutors had branded Ghailani a cold-blooded terrorist. The defense portrayed him as a clueless errand boy, exploited by senior al-Qaida operatives and framed by evidence from contaminated crime scenes. The trial, at a lower Manhattan courthouse, had been viewed as a test for President Barack Obama's administration's aim of putting other terror detainees — including self-professed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four other terrorism suspects held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba — on trial on U.S. soil. U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said Wednesday's verdict confirms that the Obama administration's decision to try Gitmo detainees in civilian courts "was a mistake and will not work." "This case was supposed to be the easy one, and the Obama administration failed — the Gitmo cases from here-on-out will only get more difficult," Hoekstra, of Michigan, said in a statement. U.S. Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican who's the ranking minority leader of the Homeland Security Committee, called the verdict a "wake-up call" for the White House. Ghailani's prosecution also demonstrated some of the constitutional challenges the government would face in future trials of Guantanamo detainees on U.S. soil. On the eve of his trial last month, the judge barred the government from calling a key witness because the witness had been identified while Ghailani was being held at a secret CIA prison where harsh interrogation techniques were used. After briefly considering an appeal of that ruling, prosecutors forged ahead with a case honed a decade ago in the prosecution of four other men charged in the same attacks in Tanzania and Kenya. All were convicted in the same courthouse and sentenced to life terms. Prosecutors had alleged Ghailani helped an al-Qaida cell buy a truck and components for explosives used in a suicide bombing in his native Tanzania on Aug. 7, 1998. The attack in Dar es Salaam and a nearly simultaneous bombing in Nairobi, Kenya, killed 12 Americans. The day before the bombings, Ghailani boarded a one-way flight to Pakistan under an alias, prosecutors said. While on the run, he spent time in Afghanistan as a cook and bodyguard for Osama bin Laden and later as a document forger for al-Qaida, authorities said. He was captured in 2004 in Pakistan and was held by the CIA at a secret overseas camp. In 2006, he was transferred to Guantanamo and held until the decision last year to bring him to New York. Despite losing its key witness, the government was given broad latitude to reference al-Qaida and bin Laden. It did — again and again. "This is Ahmed Ghailani. This is al-Qaida. This is a terrorist. This is a killer," Assistant U.S. Attorney Harry Chernoff said in closing arguments. The jury heard a former al-Qaida member who has cooperated with the government describe how bin Laden took the group in a more radical direction with a 1998 fatwa, or religious edict, against Americans. Bin Laden accused the United States of killing innocent women and children in the Middle East and decided "we should do the same," L'Houssaine Kherchtou said on the witness stand. A prosecutor read aloud the fatwa, which called on Muslims to rise up and "kill the Americans and plunder their money wherever and whenever they can find it." Other witnesses described how Ghailani bought gas tanks used in the truck bomb with cash supplied by the terror group, how the FBI found a blasting cap stashed in his room at a cell hideout and how he lied to family members about his escape, telling them he was going to Yemen to start a new life. The defense never contested that Ghailani knew some of the plotters. But it claimed he was in the dark about their sinister intentions. "Call him a fall guy. Call him a pawn," Quijano said in his closing argument. "But don't call him guilty." Quijano argued the investigation in Africa was too chaotic to produce reliable evidence. He said local authorities and the FBI "trampled all over" unsecured crime scenes during searches in Tanzania. Civil rights advocates said the results of the Ghailani trial were positive. "The jury heard the evidence and delivered a verdict that — unlike military commissions trials — we can trust," said Hina Shamsi, director of the American Civil Liberties Union's National Security Project. "We should be proud of a system that isn't set up to simply rubber-stamp the government's case no matter how little reliable evidence there may be." ___ |

"Fortunately Christianity an an organized religion has basically died out. All that's really left today are a bunch of "Designer Christians" who can never agree with each other on what the religion even means." The Christians posting to this blog are great examples of this.. they all know what god is thinking.. the way to heaven (salvation) is: one writes "do good deads" another writes "have faith in your heart" another writes "have faith" another writes "you need faith and good deeds" "Man is the only animal that has the true religion--several of them" Mark Twain Christianity has died out Man thats funny!Christianity hasn't died out it's thriving. It has 1.5 billion more people than Islam and Christianity is making huge gains in the Middle east and China. |

This has to be one of the worst decisions in the history of Congress. You just had Democrats take one of their worst beatings in the last 50 years due largely to Pelosi,Reid, and Obama's leadership.I don't think the American people could be more clearer then they want all three of them replaced.Yet you keep Pelosi as your leader? For what?To look like a idiot?

Kind of funny how they sifted through every inch of that soil and found the remains of all the victims yet didn't find a single piece of explosives. It would have taken well over a million pounds of explosives.Thousands of miles of wires.Thousands of people hanging and stringing wires all over the building for several months and probably years and yet not a single person working there saw any of this?
Get a life.You need one. |

I have a lot of gay friends, two of which are about to adopt and they will make the most amazing parents. I find it interesting that we should be separating church and state and politics does anything but. Religion is dangerous (note that I didn't say God) when wading in the pool of morality. The kind of hate that has been perpetuated by people claiming that it comes from God is obscene. Republicans say that they want less government, but not if it means they have to stay out of people's bedrooms and tell a woman what she can and can't do with her body. I love politics and I nearly can't help myself. I also wish I could do away with the party systems so that people can vote specifically on issues. Yet the amount of hipocracy that takes place on both sides (and bipartisanship is a pipe dream at this point) is mind numbing. My gay friends love each other as much as any man/woman, they are faithful, they are intelligent, they VOTE, and there is no difference between there love and the love of any other. It's not anyone's choice to be straight just like it's not a choice to be gay. And imagine if everyone around you was gay and you were straight. Then imagine you fall in love and everyone is sitting up on a pedastal they built themselves in order to point a finger at you and say "you have no right" to love the person you love. You'd be outraged. This issue is outrageous. People need to wake up, educate themselves and stop hiding behind ignorance. The divorce rate among straight couples is insanely high...maybe we should give someone else a shot at longevity. Man thats a funny post.It reads almost like it was copied from Micheal moore book. If you love politics then you would know the the church does not write laws, make laws, dictate laws, have it's own court system, have it's own police force,or a military.Nothing the Government does comes from the bible,is enforced by the bible,or was written by the bible. So if you can find where homosexuals are suffering under laws by our Government that is enforced by the bible, the church,Jesus Christ,or some other Christian type of Government I strongly urge you to do so because the people of America do not abide by any laws written using the bible. Hate from Christians???Do you not realize that Christians have always held the majority on voting issues since this country was founded?Do you not realize that even if all the Atheist and other religions voted no on all issues it wouldn't matter because Christians make up at least 80% of the population? Knowing that fact,we can all say that the reasons gays can live their life any way they want in America is because of the Christians. As a matter of fact gays have the best overall quality of life because of Christian majority countries. Why don't your gay friends trying being openly gay in non Christian majority countries like China and anywhere in the middle east where you are promised a quick death sentance. How about Africa?Death or jail. I think if I was a gay person looking for a country I would certianly choose a Christian majority country. Wow it's not anyones choice to be gay or straight?I suppose if that is true we should at least expect a 50/50 chance someone will be born either straight or gay.I think the psycologist would be having overload from people wondering who sex they should date. That is a classic cop out statement people are bored of hearing and has no evidence to back it up.There is no scientific proof gay people are any different then anyone else. Not only that there has been millions of people who were formally gay and changed their mind and married straight people.Anne hech(ellen degeneres)former lesbian girlfriend is now married to a male and has children is a prime example.I can give you stories from thousands of gays who converted to Christianity and are no longer gay and will never be again. I guess if you really are born gay and you started dating people of the opposite sex we should put you into counseling and therpy to get you to be gay again? Yeah good luck selling that one. I am awake and just like your gay friends I vote. One thing I don't need to hear is how I should be forced to accept a lifestyle I don't approve of.Gays are no better than anyone else in this country and should start accepting that. As far as the Christians goes...Christians are simply standing up for what they have always believed in.It is the gays who are demanding the Christians turn into Atheists.Christians are not any different then they were 100 years ago. |

doesnt the article end that they will allow the flag? Yes but that doesn't change the fact that they made im take it off in the first place. cant please everyone, I am glad there was an EFFORT made to evaluate the situation rather than just dismissing a complaint and doing nothing,,,, Can't please everyone? It is a sad and sorry day in America when some liberal jerk tells a young boy he can't fly a American flag on his own bike.Perhaps a few Marines can escort him when him comes to school and this big man can deal with them. If that was my son I would be so mad they would have to lock me in a jail cell.Because I would find that guy, stake him to the ground, and leave him for the crows. more bloodthirsty american rhetoric, temporarily not having a flag on ones bike is far from horrendous , an inconvenience that causes little harm to anyone,,, No but the concept that Americans should some how be ashamed to fly the flag of their own country is.The concept that someone is offended by our flag and we should take it down is nothing but a slap to our face and a disgrace to the millions dead who died for it. Maybe you don't see it,but as someone well read in history of warfare and genocide I certianly do.This is how it starts...One person demands the American flag be removed for(insert reason here). Then some other school demands flag shirts, flag pins, flag what ever not be worn because someone is offended.Soon it bleeds into the Federal system.Government workers are not allowed to wear patrotic shirts or display American flags on their desks because someone from other country might be offended. Then the American flag must not be flown in certain parts of town,on certain Islamic holidays,in certain buildings, blah, blah, blah. Pretty soon the American flag is nothing more than a piece of cloth to be found in musuems and flown over the capitol on the fourth of July. The American flag is not just a piece of cloth. It is a symbol of the greatest country on earth.A country that has sacraficed millions of men and women fighting other peoples Wars so they can be free.It is a symbol of liberty, justice, freedom, life, and rebellion. No other country on earth has even come close to what the United states can brag about.Every day thousands of people risk their life from countries all over the World to live here.People would sell their souls and children to live here. I say if you are offended by the flag then good!!!I hope you get pissed off, thrown a fit, whine, cry, and complain.Because it is amusing to watch you change something that will never be changed.Feel free to leave this country at any time. This is our country and our flag and you don't have the choice, rights, laws,or power to make us remove it regardless where we fly it.You may not like Americans or our flag. But don't you dare tell us we can't fly it. |

MARRIAGE THROUGH FRIENDSHIP
|

IF FINDING A PARTNER TO BE WITH THE REST OF YOUR LIFE IS THAT MUCH OF A SIGNIFICANCE TO YOU, THAN WHY WOULDN'T YOU WAIT? WAIT & GET TO KNOW THE PERSON, FRIENDSHIP IS THE KEY TO THE DOOR OF LOVE & HAPPINESS & WHETHER YOU HAVE THE KEY OR A LOCK PICK, YOU WILL ONLY SET YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE WHETHER IT BE IN A FEW DAYS, MONTHS, OR EVEN YEARS. MOST PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE IN A MONTH OR EVEN IN A FEW DAYS, & THEY WONDER WHY THERE RELATIONSHIP FAILS, & I HAVE SUFFERED IN THE MISCONCEPTION OF LOVE & HAPPINESS. I'VE TRIED & TRIED, IS WAS LIKE ("LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT, MY LIFE WAS WRONG BUT YOU MADE IT FEEL RIGHT") SOMETIMES WE HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF LOVE IN OUR HEARTS & WE JUST WISH WE CAN FIND SOMEBODY WHO HAS THAT SAME AMOUNT OR MORE SO WE CAN SHARE THIS UNBELIEVABLE EMOTION WITH ONE ANOTHER. SO WHY WOULDN'T YOU TAKE THE TIME THAT IS NEEDED TO FALL IN LOVE WITH SOMEBODY BUT WITH NO SELFISH INTENTIONS. GIVE, LOVE, & RESPECT. & TO THOSE WOMEN WHO I MIGHT MEET IN THE FUTURE & HOPEFULLY MARRY ONE OF YOU =) "I SAY IF YOU GOT BAGGAGE, I WOULD LOVE TO HELP YOU UNPACK". TAKE THE TIME TO GET TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER AS FRIENDS, & EVEN IF THEY DRIFT AWAY TO ANOTHER WOMAN OR MAN OR VICE VERSA, THAN YOU KNOW THEY WEREN'T FOR YOU. ONE DAY WITH LOVE, COMPASSION, & PATIENCE I TRULY BELIEVE ANY ONE CAN FIND THEIR TRUE LOVE/SOUL MATE/THE WHOLE ENCHILADA :) SO LOVE ONE ANOTHER & GIVE WITH OUT THE INTENT OF RECEIVING ANYTHING IN RETURN. WITH MUCH LOVE & RESPECT P.S. THROUGH THE LORD & ANY RELIGION YOU CHOOSE TO FOLLOW, THE LORD WILL GUIDE YOU THROUGH BUT IT'S UP TO YOU RECOGNIZE THE SIGNS IN YOUR LIFE. I PRAY THAT EVERY ONE THAT READS THIS, WILL OPEN THEIR MINDS, HEARTS, & LET THE HOLY SPIRIT GUIDE THEM, I LOVE YOU ALL & I WISH EVERY ONE THE BEST.. P.S.S. (ESPECIALLY NO SEX UNTIL MARRIAGE) Well said my friend.I have had the experience of dating many women in my life and I have learned that men and women both use people for nothing more then sexual pleasure. You think they really like you?Tell them they will have to wait at least 3 months before anything sexual happends.Tell them 6 months. I was a stupid idiot in my twenties.I knew the lord but didn't listen to what he had to say.I was having sex on first dates.Getting sexualy intimate with girls who I have never met in dark corners in night clubs, back seats of cars, and bars.I was known around town as a player and seducer.I even surpised myself sometimes.Taking bets with my friends when they would point out a girl and ask me how long it would take before I had her a quivering mess melting in my arms. My friends I say these things to you as I hang my head in shame. It is my personal testimony of the dangers and destruction of sexual lust.No amount of sex or women can ever fulfill that desire to be satisfied. You will always want more.Desipite all the beautiful women with beautiful bodies and a dresser full of phone numbers I was totally miserable.I used them for lust but they also used me as well.I was nothing but a boy toy to them.A attractive, well dressed, cofident man, that they could use for a few hours to forget their boring husbands and push over boyfriends. I tell you these embarrassing and degrading things about myself not because I like to brag but as a warning to the dangers of disobeying Gods word.Sexual temptation, pornography, lust, and all the other garbage that goes along with it is nothing less than spiritial cancer and a toxic poison. In my life I have never seen anything as destructive as what I went though.Because Satan is replacing what you desire the most(marriage, commitment, love, trust)and replacing it with lust, lies, immorality, cheating, one night stands, rejection, hurt, and empty fulfillment. I am fully aware and take responsibility for the many years I was doing those things.I have only myself to blame and will accept the consequences for my actions when I am judged by God in the end.It is a sad and scary thought for me. But I also know I have repented, changed my heart and my life, and have confessed my sins to God and they have been forgiven.I don't need to think about those women I seduced and relationships I might have ruined.Because Jesus died for my sins to be paid in full.It is a insult to him for me to repent of my sins and him to forgive him only for me to feel guilty the next day of those same sins. As a Christian I can not change my past. But I can try to make up for the wrongs with doing the rights.I have made a vow not to have sex until(hopefully marriage)and have kept that vow now for 7 years. To be honest it has not been hard waiting.I don't miss it.I could go another 7 years with no problem.I know God will reward me one day with a good Christian woman.I will wait until she comes. No sex until marraige.Couldn't agree more my friend. |

Mr Obama this is what real change looks like!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_mcconnell_earmarks;_ylt=AvUuDyPHqrAu7bK35C5o3ZOyFz4D;_ylu=X3oDMTJtNWoyMDdkBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTAxMTE2L3VzX21jY29ubmVsbF9lYXJtYXJrcwRjcG9zAzEEcG9zAzMEc2VjA3luX3RvcF9zdG9yeQRzbGsDZnVsbG5ic3BzdG9y Top Senate Republican joins push to stop earmarks WASHINGTON – Congress' most unapologetic fan of big-money politics is backing a ban on pork-barrel earmarks and avoiding an early battle with conservative senators who had threatened to force a vote on the matter. Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who has long defended the practice of designating money for home-state projects, said he was heeding the message sent by voters so distrustful of government that they swept Democrats from power in the House. McConnell said the abuse of the earmarking system turned it into a symbol of government waste that Republicans do oppose. "Old habits aren't easy to break," McConnell, the Senate minority leader, noted. But he and other earmark proponents were under pressure to acknowledge the tea party-fueled public anger over government spending and "back-room deals" in Congress. Just hours before McConnell spoke, Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., promoted the ban on remarks to tea party activists at a Capitol rally, saying he was forcing a vote to see whether entrenched Senate veterans have "gotten the message." "Tomorrow, the Republicans in the Senate are going to start answering that question: Have we learned our lesson? Are we going to go a different way?" DeMint said. House Republicans already are moving to extend their moratorium on earmarks, and President Barack Obama has said he supports a crackdown on the practice. "We can't stop with earmarks as they represent only part of the problem," Obama said in a statement. "I look forward to working with Democrats and Republicans to not only end earmark spending, but to find other ways to bring down our deficits for our children." Earmarking is the longtime Washington practice in which lawmakers insert money for home-state projects like road and bridge work into spending bills. Critics say that peppering most spending bills with hundreds or even thousands of such projects creates a go-along-get-along mindset that ensures that Washington spending goes unchecked. McConnell, a 26-year veteran of the Senate and longtime member of the Appropriations Committee, had argued in the past that banning earmarks would shift too much power to Obama and wouldn't save taxpayers any money. "I know the good that has come from the projects I have helped support throughout my state. I don't apologize for them," he said. McConnell's move also forestalls a possible fight with the House, where Speaker-to-be John Boehner, R-Ohio, poised to become the most powerful Republican in Washington, had put people on notice that there won't be any earmarks in spending bills. The developments took Senate Democrats, who remain the majority party in the chamber, by surprise, and top Democrats said they stand by the practice. A spokesman for Majority Leader Harry Reid, freshly re-elected after a campaign in which he boasted of his ability to bring home the bacon to Nevada, said Reid believes it's up to each senator to decide whether he or she will seek earmarks. "From delivering $100 million in military projects for Nevada to funding education and public transportation projects in the state, Sen. Reid makes no apologies for delivering for the people of Nevada," Reid spokesman Jim Manley said. "He will always fight to ensure the state's needs are met." |

I agree there should be a distinction. I just posted what it said. I don't think it's right. I understand the purpose to hender discrimination, but in a roommate situation (where the person has to live with someone) they should be able to chose. IMO it's more about finding a common interest with someone you are living with. It makes it easier to get along with someone that you are going to be living with. It's not just about money at this point. Now if the person is renting a house and not living there themselves, then I can see the Fair Housing Act. Seriously laws or no laws what kind of people would support this?Common sense tells anyone with a brain that you put two people together who do not want to live together you are going to have arguments, fights, and probably a dead body with a knife in her head lying on the floor. What about the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Is this not a right? It sounds like the fair housing act is steam rolling over all of that. You own a house and someone is telling you who can live there? What kind of life is that? All these stupid laws are doing is creating division, racial tesions, costly lawsuits, inequality, more laws, more red tape, and more hatred. It's forcing people not only to do things against their will but to accept a way of life they do not want to be apart of. Would this law not also apply to colleges? How about students who pick their roomates?Under this law it would be discrimination for a person to pick a roommate unless they had a blindfold on. |

Here's a update....
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/11/04/hud-dismisses-complaint-woman-ad-seeking-christian-roommate/?test=latestnews The U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department has dismissed a civil rights complaint against against a woman in Grand Rapids, Mich., who posted an advertisement at her church last July seeking a Christian roommate. The complaint filed by the Fair Housing Center of West Michigan.had accused the unidentified 31-year-old woman of posting an ad that "expresses an illegal preference for a Christian roommate, thus excluding people of other faiths." HUD acknowledged that statements suggesting a preference for one religion are prohibited, but it concluded that the woman in this case didn't violate the law. "In light of the facts provided and after assessing the unique context of the advertisement and the roommate relationship involved in this particular situation potentially involving the sharing of personal religious beliefs, the Department defers to Constitutional considerations in reaching its conclusion. Accordingly, the Department finds that there is no reasonable cause to believe that the Act was violated in this matter," HUD said. "the Department defers to Constitutional considerations in reaching its conclusion". Yeah boy that damn Constitution just keeps getting in the way towards of our goal of eliminating the Christian religion in this country.Enjoy looking at a nice lawsuit for violating a womans first ammendment rights and a termination notice where you work. |

This whole fiasco is totally absurd to anyone. You can't even pick your own roomate in your own house now?Are we living in a dictatorship?I can't remember any country in the world have such a stupid laws.Dictator,Communist China is more lenant then the United states of America. This sounds more like you are living in a prison.
I would really love to see how a homosexual woman would react if she was told that a male member from the Westbourgh baptist church wanted to be her roommate and the courts ordered her to accept him. If I was this woman I would counter sue everyone that had anything to do with this case.I'm sure she could come up with a grocery list of violations starting with slander, emotional distress, and a violation of her first Ammendment right banning Government officals from prohibiting her from practicing her religion. Sec. 804. [42 U.S.C. 3604] Discrimination in sale or rental of housing and other prohibited practices (c) To make, print, or publish, or cause to be made, printed, or published any notice, statement, or advertisement, with respect to the sale or rental of a dwelling that indicates any preference, limitation, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin, or an intention to make any such preference, limitation, or discrimination. This law will never hold up in court and is unconstitutional towards a Christian or anyone else who is religious. The US Constitution stomps any local or state laws prohibiting Christians and others to change their morals and beliefs according to their religious beliefs. A state can add as many laws as they want. What they will never do is to pick up our Constitution and draw a big red X in the first amendment and claim it is null and void. I also don't believe for one second if this was a case where a Muslim woman didn't want to be a roomate with a Jewish man,or a homosexual man didn't want to be roomate to a straight Christian man we would be reading this story. |

"You know that Christianity isn't a violent religion" really ??? Jesus died a horrific violent death..... what about the Crusades..etc... and if you don't follow the Christian god, you will suffer for eternity in hell Gee, I want to sign up for this fear trip !!!! How about them Crusades? http://www.frontline.org.za/articles/crusades_all_about.htm A REACTION TO JIHAD The crusaders were reacting to over four centuries of relentless Islamic Jihad, which had wiped out over 50% of all the Christians in the world and conquered over 60% of all the Christian lands on earth – before the crusades even began. Many of the towns liberated by the crusaders were still over 90% Christian when the crusaders arrived. The Middle East was the birthplace of the Christian Church. It was the Christians who had been conquered and oppressed by the Seljuk Turks. So many of the towns in the Middle East welcomed the crusaders as liberators. Far from the crusaders being the aggressors, it was the Muslim armies which had spread Islam from Saudi Arabia across the whole of Christian North Africa into Spain and even France within the first century after the death of Muhammad. Muslim armies sacked and slaughtered their way across some of the greatest Christian cities in the world, including Alexandria, Carthage, Antioch and Constantinople. These Muslim invaders destroyed over 3,200 Christian churches just in the first 100 years of Islam. http://www.cbn.com/spirituallife/onlinediscipleship/understandingislam/IslamHistory0212.aspx "In 1095, after suffering from the murderous invasions of Muslim conquerors who killed tens of thousands of Christians through four-and-one-half centuries of Muslim imperialist, colonialist conquest, made slaves and eunuchs of Christians for the pleasure of the caliphs, burned down or sacked the holiest churches in Christendom, robbed and killed thousands of Christians on holy pilgrimage, brutally sacked and pillaged Jerusalem, and pillaged the countryside of Israel, western Europe, under the leadership of the Pope, decided to free the people of the Holy Land from their brutal masters and reclaim Christianity's holiest places for free Christian worship." Although the law differed in different places, the following are examples of colonialist laws to which colonized Christians and Jews were made subject to over the years: Christians and Jews could not bear arms -- Muslims could; Christians and Jews could not ride horses -- Muslims could; Christians and Jews had to get permission to build -- Muslims did not; Christians and Jews had to pay certain taxes which Muslims did not; Christians could not proselytize -- Muslims could; Christians and Jews had to bow to their Muslim masters when they paid their taxes; and Christians and Jews had to live under the law set forth in the Koran, not under either their own religious or secular law. http://www.christian-community.org/library/crusades.html "Christians in the eleventh century were not paranoid fanatics. Muslims really were gunning for them. While Muslims can be peaceful, Islam was born in war and grew the same way. From the time of Mohammed, the means of Muslim expansion was always the sword. Muslim thought divides the world into two spheres, the Abode of Islam and the Abode of War. Christianity--and for that matter any other non-Muslim religion--has no abode. Christians and Jews can be tolerated within a Muslim state under Muslim rule. But, in traditional Islam, Christian and Jewish states must be destroyed and their lands conquered. When Mohammed was waging war against Mecca in the seventh century, Christianity was the dominant religion of power and wealth. As the faith of the Roman Empire, it spanned the entire Mediterranean, including the Middle East, where it was born. The Christian world, therefore, was a prime target for the earliest caliphs, and it would remain so for Muslim leaders for the next thousand years. "With enormous energy, the warriors of Islam struck out against the Christians shortly after Mohammed's death. They were extremely successful. Palestine, Syria, and Egypt--once the most heavily Christian areas in the world--quickly succumbed. By the eighth century, Muslim armies had conquered all of Christian North Africa and Spain. In the eleventh century, the Seljuk Turks conquered Asia Minor (modern Turkey), which had been Christian since the time of St. Paul. The old Roman Empire, known to modern historians as the Byzantine Empire, was reduced to little more than Greece. In desperation, the emperor in Constantinople sent word to the Christians of Western Europe asking them to aid their brothers and sisters in the East. |

I say we take the tax burden off the parents and the burden of what our child learns off of society and create a pass to Your Own School system merit system So yours and my taxes will be given as credits to parents of school aged children and let them pick and choose where they send thier kids. This would get rid of all govt. sponcered Terrorism in school by our laws of just now just what is discrimination anyway? Now we pick and choose which group has the loudest out cry.. When our country was founded Home schooling and small school houses were all over the place and the Parents were the school board. You can take for example in a county I lived in Missouri thier was maybe 20,000 people but at the turn of the century in 1900 thier were over 100 schools listed throughout the county. people got along.. if you do not like this schools parents then find another for your child. or better yet start The GAy School For Better Enlightenment of Social Matters. Then you will not have people always saying they are being stepped on. Let the Games Begin A school voucher system that would allow parents to choose any school system certainly has its appeal. It also has a major downside. Currently, public schools have to abide by State and Federal regulations in order to receive their funding. Parochial, private, and home schools have few restrictions, most of which are State compliance regulations. The implications of utilizing such a system would not typically be well-received by those who prefer unregulated school options. In fact I see little reason to give the Federal government more control over education than they already have. Many of the privately funded options provide quality education mostly because they are not regulated and because they tend to be smaller environments. Personally I wouldn’t want to see something that’s working succumb to even more Federal oversight. Voucher systems are extremely problematic in many ways, but I chose to discuss only this one issue, as it’s more in line with the OP regarding limitation of religious freedom. Private schooling is currently an option and it’s still an area in which religious expression is little regulated – can you see any reason to change that? I don't know where this is going but I am going to get back on track... I think the core problem is that Atheist and others simply do not understand that Christians and others of faith have the right to express their religion no matter where they are and what they are doing. This includes all public buildings including schools, universities, courthouses, etc. It is not wrong to say that people of faith have more rights then people who do not have faith.Christians and other religious people of this country have all the rights everyone else has but they also have one more right that Atheist and non believers do not have. That extra right is the right to practice their religion with out the Government or others prohibiting it. First Amendment - Religion and Expression Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF A student praying in school, drawing posters of Jesus, using God or Jesus in speeches is nothing more than his or her personal expression of their faith. It has nothing to do with the school. The school is not telling children they have to convert to Christianity, endorse Christianity,or to read the bible.A teacher telling a student he or she can not talk about his or her religion is a violation of their first amendment rights. It is this reason why these cases almost always end up in the Federal Supreme court and why the Christians win them the majority of the time.It has only been in the last two years or so that Christians have been fighting back and fighting back hard. They realize that they don't have to tolerate some school official telling them they can't pray at lunch. They realize it doesn't matter who is offended and who gets pissed off.We still have the right to express our faith anytime we want and there is nothing the Government can say or do about it. Now I know you are going to read this and complain and say this is unfair, and wrong, and blah, blah, blah. This simple truth is that Atheist, homosexuals, and others are no special than anyone else and deserve nothing more than what the Constitution says they already have. Our founding fathers knew Christians(who are persecuted more than anyone else in this world)would continue to be prosecuted and made sure that in America Christians could worship any way they please. That is why Separation of church and state was written. The Government can't tell anyone what to believe and the Government can not tell Christians what to do.Everyone is happy. |

http://www.fox40.com/news/headlines/ktxl-americanflagbike11122010,0,3045879.htmlstory
13-year-old Cody Alicea rides with an American flag on the back of his bike. He says he does this to be patriotic and to honor veterans, like his own grandfather, Robert. He's had the flag on his bike for two months but Monday, was told to take it down. A school official at Denair Middle School told Cody some students had been complaining about the flag and it was no longer allowed on school property. "In this country we're supposed to be free," said Cody. "And I should be able to wave my flag wherever I want to. And they're telling me I can't." Cody had to take the flag off his bike and put it in his backpack, where he kept it all week. Cody's grandfather says the school was concerned about racial tensions or uprisings because of the flag. He feels if there was really a problem it should have been brought up two months ago, not during Veterans week. And if it was an issue of safety, parents should have been contacted. "No action should be taken. We don't want any repercussion," said Roger Alicea. "We just want Cody to be proud of what he's doing." Roger says the family is not planning to take any legal action, but they do want to meet with school staff. Cody says he wants to serve in the military some day, and is raising money for a trip to Washington, D.C. in the Spring. After being contacted by FOX40 Friday morning, Denair's Superintendent says Cody will be allowed to keep the flag on his bike. He told FOX40 he and the school are patriotic, but their main priority is keeping students safe; the school will focus on the students who are causing uprisings. Riding a bike is still not allowed on school campus, but when Cody rides his bike to school he can now fly the flag. |

http://thisistheendoftheworldasweknowit.com/archives/the-frightening-rise-of-christian-persecution-christians-around-the-world-are-being-shot-burned-hanged-tortured-and-stuffed-into-metal-shipping-containers
There is a widely quoted statistic that more Christians died for their faith in the 20th century than in the 19 centuries leading up to it. But as bad as the 20th century was, the 21st century is starting to make that look like a Sunday picnic. In every corner of the globe, Christians are being shot, burned, hanged, tortured and even stuffed into metal shipping containers. Christian clergy are being marked for assassination around the world, hundreds of churches are being burned to the ground along with scores of homes and businesses owned by Christians. Dozens of nations across the globe have now passed strict anti-conversion laws in an attempt to stifle the spread of Christianity. In the countries where Christians are not yet facing physical persecution, they still must deal with open discrimination, lawsuits and increasing ridicule. Christianity is now the most hated and most persecuted religion on the plant. The reality is that the words that Jesus spoke in John 15:18 ring truer today than ever: "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first." Keep those words in mind as you read the following shocking reports of Christian persecution from all over the world.... China Chinese authorities have conducted a crackdown on "illegal" Christian churches in recent months that church leaders are calling the harshest in years. Christians in China are required to worship in "churches" run by state-controlled organizations, and Christians who attempt to worship on their own are brutally persecuted. Recently, hundreds of government police and hired thugs descended on a megachurch that served approximately 50,000 worshippers, smashing doors and windows, seizing Bibles and sending dozens of worshippers to hospitals with serious injuries. The co-pastors of the church are in prison and police vehicles remain parked on virtually every corner of the neighborhood where the church is located. Scenes such as this are regularly being repeated all over China as the Communist government seeks to eliminate all religion that is not government-sanctioned. Eritrea In a story that recently made headlines all over the world, thirty elderly women in Eritrea were arrested for simply praying together. But the truth is that this is just the latest episode in an ongoing persecution of Christians that is beyond brutal. The Pakistan Christian TV website recently described the horrifc persecution of Christians in Eritrea this way.... Today some 3,000 Eritrean Christians are imprisoned for their faith. Some are in underground and solitary cells whilst some are in 'secret' prisons for the 'disappeared'. However, most are herded into unventilated shipping containers in the desert where dysentery and infectious diseases go untreated. Torture is routine. The truth is that these unventilated shipping containers are extremely uncomfortable. The temperatures in these metal shipping containers can reach well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and in many instances Christians are not even let out of them to use the bathroom. Assassinations Of Clergy Increasingly, Christian clergy are being targeted for assassination all over the world. The following are just a few of the recent examples.... *A Russian priest that had been highly critical of Islam has been assassinated inside his own church. *Leftist guerrillas in Colombia brutally executed a Christian pastor just outside his own home. *Two masked members of the al-Shabaab Muslim militia shot and killed a Christian pastor in Somalia as he drove home from a worship service. India Persecution of Christians in India is getting so bad that India actually made International Christian Concern's Hall of Shame. According to the ICC, 2008 was particularly bad, with "wave after wave of highly coordinated Hindu raids" that resulted in "the worst outbreak of anti-Christian violence in its recent history." The statistics that the ICC quotes regarding the outbreak of persecution in India are sobering.... "In all, more than 100 Christians are confirmed dead, 4,000 homes have burned down, and over 50,000 Christians have fled their homes." The following is just one example of what is going on in India. This story was originally posted by The Voice of the Martyrs.... ---- On April 25, Pastor Mohan Babu and two other believers were severely beaten by 35 Hindu extremists for holding a Vacation Bible School (VBS) near Bangalore City, in Karnataka State. According to The Voice of the Martyrs contacts in India, the three-day VBS was organized by Ragigudda Baptist Church. VOM sources said, "Around 60 children from different backgrounds were attending the VBS. As they were worshiping, about 35 people belonging to a Hindu extremist group forcefully entered the hut chanting slogans and demolished the hut. The extremists mercilessly beat Mohan, Samuel and Krishna, alleging forceful conversion. The perpetrators chased the children without any courtesy and tore the Bibles. Mohan was severely injured on his lips and was profusely bleeding. The believers are living in fear and did not lodge complaint with the police." ---- Egypt Hundreds of Muslim villagers in southern Egypt recently burned and looted scores of Christian-owned shops. Christians in Egypt live in a constant state of fear and thousands are being forced to relocate. In fact, the forced deportation of Egyptian Christians from their homes by the government in order to "protect" them is rapidly increasing. Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia, of course, strictly forbids the conversion of any Muslim to Christianity. The penalty for conversion is death. Back in 2008, The daughter of a man who works for Saudi Arabia's religious police became a Christian after she joined an Internet chat group. He responded by cutting out her tongue and burning her to death. The United Kingdom and Europe All across Europe, "anti-proselytising" laws are being passed. Not only that, but other laws are being adopted that force Christians to deny their beliefs. For example, the U.K. government is being forced by the European Commission to eliminate exemptions that allow churches to refuse to employ homosexual staff. North Korea North Korea is one of the most brutally repressive governments in the history of mankind. Tonight more than 200,000 Christians will try to stay warm in horrific North Korean labor camps. Christians there are considered little more than dogs as the following story from The Voice Of The Martyrs illustrates..... ---- The young brown-eyed girl looked up at her mother. What would she decide? Earlier that morning, the young girl's mother, their pastor, and twenty-six others in her North Korean village of GokSan were bound and taken before a screaming crowd of Communists. One of the guards ordered Pastor Kim and the other Christians, "Deny Christ, or you will die." The words chilled her. How could they ask her to deny Jesus? She knew in her heart he was real. They all quietly refused. Then the Communist guard shouted directly at the adult Christians, "Deny Christ, or we will hang your children." The young girl looked up at her mother. She gripped her and knowing how much her mom loved her. her mother then leaned down. With confidence and peace she whispered, "Today, my love, I will see you in heaven." All of the children were hanged. The remaining believers were then brought out onto the pavement and forced to lie down in front of a huge steamroller. The Communists gave them one last chance. "Deny this Jesus or you will be crushed." The Christians had already given up their children; there was no turning back. As the driver started the heavy piece of equipment, the singing from the villagers started softly. "More love, O Christ, to thee, more love to thee." |

Minneapolis Suspends Police Psychologist for Christian Beliefs
http://www.michnews.com/cgi-bin/artman/exec/view.cgi/307/13915 Naperville, IL -- In perhaps one of the most egregious cases of anti-Christian discrimination in America to date, the Minneapolis Police Department, at the behest of pro-homosexual activists, has suspended a "highly rated" psychologist, Dr. Michael Campion, because of his past affiliation with a Christian group, the Illinois Family Institute. Americans for Truth Corporate Outreach Director Matt Barber decried Campion's suspension as an act of "blatant, illegal discrimination and anti-Christian bigotry--one which should send shivers down the spine of every person of faith." http://naacd.com/updates9.htm Boycotting Target “Buoyed by news that Target Corp. failed to meet holiday sales projections, the National Clergy Council is urging church members to continue to boycott the retail chain because it barred Salvation Army bell ringers during the Christmas season. In December of 2004, Catholic, Evangelical, Orthodox and Protestant clergy members and 30,000 lay delegates in all 50 states called on congregations, organizations, family, friends and associates to suspend holiday shopping at Target stores. Rev. Rob Schenck, the council’s president, said: ‘This is not about being vindictive. It’s about teaching proper moral and civic responsibility to corporations that make bad public policy decisions. This isn’t personal, unless, of course, you’re talking about the personal injury Target is doing to the poor who are helped by one of America’s oldest, most reputable and most effective charities.’” (WorldNetDaily. 1/8/05.) Eliminating Christmas Birmingham, England, has renamed Christmas 'Winterval.' It is intended to be a catchy phrase for December and New Year's festivities so "there is no slur on anyone or any religious faith," a city spokesman told Reuters news service. The City Council's decision enraged Christian leaders, who called it silly and an example of "political correctness to avoid sensitivities that people do not have." (Religion Today. Current News. 11/1//98.) School Blocks Bible as Literature “A school board in Michigan has rejected a Bible course for its public high school, thus ending a year-long debate about the ‘Bible as Literature and History’ class. The National Council on Bible Curriculum in Public Schools insists the content of the Bible class conforms to the law in all respects. However, groups such as the ACLU, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, and the People for the American Way have argued that the biblically-based course illegally promotes religion, and therefore violates the Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution.” (Agape Press. 1/12/05.) The Philly 5 Vindicated “A judge on 2/17/05 in Philadelphia dismissed all charges against the ‘Philly 5.’ Eleven Christians were arrested in Philadelphia in October, 2004, for peacefully preaching the gospel at a homosexual celebration called ‘OutFest.’ Four men and a juvenile were bound over for trial on criminal charges, which included ‘riot’ and ‘ethnic intimidation.’ The five faced as much as 47 years in prison if they were convicted on all charges. Court of Common Pleas Judge Pamela Dembe quickly and summarily dismissed the charges on the grounds that prosecutors were unable to make even a minimal showing of any criminal conduct. Instead, she ruled that peaceful expressive activities are fully protected by the First Amendment and cannot form the basis of a criminal prosecution.” (American Family Association News Release. 2/17/05.) Attorney as Christian Bigot “Most of the country is aware by now of the five Christians in Philadelphia who were charged with numerous ‘felonies,’ while peacefully demonstrating (against a homosexual event) in the ‘city of brotherly love.’ District Attorney Charles Ehrlich charged the defendants were ‘hateful’ and proclaimed that preaching the Bible is tantamount to ‘fighting words.’ It’s unfortunate that an imbecile like Ehrlich hasn’t read Cannon v. City and County of Denver, 998. F.2d 867. (10th Cir. 1993).” (WorldNetDaily. Devvy Kidd. “Imbeciles Who Serve in Public Office.” 2/18/05.) Christian Bigotry in Schools “Seven-year-old Sallie loved her school and her classmates. But she felt sad when a teacher at her elementary school told her not to talk about her Christian beliefs on school grounds. She was assigned to a ‘Child Study Team’ where she would be remediated. Her IEP (Individual Education Plan) would be managed and monitored by the Resource Specialist. Her parents asked a lawyer what rights they had as parents to protect Sallie from religious intolerance. The lawyer warned them that the school might consider Sallie ‘overly religious’ and refer her to Child Protection Services (CPS). At that point, Sallie’s parents quickly transferred her from the local public school to a Christian school. Perhaps you are wondering how this could be happening in America. What happened to free speech? To religious freedom? To kindness?” One Nation, Not Under God? “A teacher attempted to censor the Pledge of Allegiance. An instructor at Faust Junior High School in Chambersburg, Pa., told students he was eliminating the words "under God" from the pledge, which is recited every day at the school. He explained that the school was a public facility and that mentioning the name of God was unacceptable. A parent contacted the Rutherford Institute, which contacted the school’s principal, who quickly made sure there would be no censorship of the pledge. ‘Students and teachers have the right to recite the pledge in its entirety,’ the institute's Ron Rissler said.” (Religion Today. Current News. 10-16-98) One Nation, Not Under God? “A teacher attempted to censor the Pledge of Allegiance. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled March 18 that the practice is unconstitutional, the Associated Press said. The ruling, which overturns a lower court's 1996 decision, says the prayers are similar to those said at high school graduation ceremonies, which it ruled are an illegal endorsement of religion. Attorneys for the school board have not decided if they will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.” (Current News Summary. ReligionToday.com. 3/19/99.) |
