I am so incredibly happy right now. Ok, so a lot of things in my life are stressing me right now and I’m feeling forced to make decisions I am not ready to make, but I have something now that means so much more to me thanks to this site. 
No, it’s not a man.  I guess I should say it’s not a woman either for those of you with an open mind.
It really doesn’t matter to anyone but me what it is. All that matters is that something that is a major part of me, that my mother has repeatedly made me feel inadequate about, is being appreciated and complimented by others on here and I am so happy and grateful. 
Ok… so posts are supposed to get people thinking and communicating about how they feel. So, my question to all is…  Other than the obvious “I met someone…” (it IS a “dating” site), what else has this site done for you? 
 E.g.:
- Helped you open up more to others - Validated your opinions on something - Helped you be a better debater - Opened your mind to other ways of thinking or feeling - etc… A HUGE thank you to those who have made me feel this way!

That's a very good question. I thought I had made some friends here, and in a couple of cases, I have. Very good friends. But, on the other hand, when I was forced to go away for a month or so ( not because of a suspension..I moved and couldn't get internet service right away ) 90% of the people who I thought were friends... Well...let's just say that no one thought to try to find out if I was even alive. I guess, the best I can say is that this site gives me a place to vent, make smart *** posts, answer a few people's questions ( although even that is dying a slow painful death at this point ) and keep myself from going out of my mind ( what's left of it ) from sheer boredom. Did they have your phone number and new mailing address?  You can't really blame them if they only had contact with you online and you didn't have online service for a while. I'm sure they were thrilled when you returned.

I feel badly for you. It’s not much consolation, but know that you’re not alone in being jerked around by someone you cared about. It’s really awful what he did. You handled it the best way you could. The only question left is: Do you want that kind of person to have any part of your life? I wouldn’t even want him as a friend. The memories will hurt, but the pain will fade in time. Best wished to you in moving past this horrible experience and finding one worthy of you.

I was talking to my roommate and told him that the people on here were so much more interesting than the people I meet irl. He looked at me and said, "Maybe they're not... maybe they're just being THEMSELVES online." It made me think. I'm certainly different online than in person. I'm WAY more outgoing and willing to talk to strangers. ...even cute boys... So, how are YOU different online, if you are? And if you're not, why not? Everyone I have met online and then offline has commented on how much quieter I am in person. On here, you’re getting to know the person. Once you’re in person with them, you can just ‘be’. |

Hard Drive Enclosures

Back in March, I posted this thread about trying to salvage the hard drive from a dead Dell laptop, and I got a lot of helpful replies. Thanks to all for that! http://mingle2.com/topic/show/208825 Well, the hard drive enclosure I purchased, a GigaWare model from Radio Shack, (literally) fell apart on me after about 5 uses. Radio Shack admits it's defective but refuses to replace it on the grounds I had it more than 90 days. Needless to say, I will be doing no further business with GigaWare or Radio Shack. So I've been checking out some of the other hard drive enclosures on various websites, and was wondering if anyone has had any particularly good or bad experiences with any particular ones.... Sabrent has one which got good reviews on Amazon, and it's only $12.99 (I paid $40 for the first one), but I'm not familiar with the company and could use some advice. I always check the reviews on CNET.com before making purchases.
