Maybe you can help them by getting them to work out too.
Well one lives an hour away & he's in construction the other is close & I do try it just does NOT help ...........I really don't believe that it's a medical thing just like I don't believe in BI-POLAR that just seems a way to keep people medicated! whoa

This is basically like saying to your friend with cancer, "I don't see any cancer, it can't be that bad, you should just snap out of it!" You are not a doctor, and depression of any kind isn't an idea that you can just not believe in. Depression robs people of the pleasure of the good things they have. Just because YOU'RE not depressed, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
OOOHHH GEEEZ CALM DOWN I was just spock

I was under the impression that you posted this subject to better understand your friend's problems. Guess not.

It doesn't really matter if that's what you believe. It's just how it is. A good doctor uses medication to keep the patient from drowning. Medication should only be used along with therapy, because medication doesn't fix everything. The idea is to get your head above water, and then stop taking medication, while still having therapy.

As I'm sure you well know daily exercise can help depression significantly... Do they all work out like you do?

Exercise IS very helpful for depression.

I am NOT understanding why so many of my FRIENDS are DEPRESSED? Both of them have GREAT jobs nice homes & just because they are ALONE they are so depressed I mean to the point that they are on medication..........spock slaphead I mean it would be better to just take vitamins or something GOOD for you! ( LIFE is what YOU make of it!) It's as simple as that people need to appreciate the fact that they have a shower every day, good friends, a bed to sleep in maybe they need to visit the other side of the WORLD where people don't have what we have? Just the fact that i'm HEALTHY & can look around at the beauty of LIFE...........Maybe the fact that the MORE you have the more miserable you are? what

Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. How much you have or don't have doesn't really make a difference.

Wow...clubbin714 you are a monster. Nothing gives you the right to act that way. If you can't deal with a busted lip without letting 'roid rage get the best of you you are not only very clearly a coward, but a pansy with absolutely no impulse control. I'm a bartender and I deal with some nonsense, but under no circumstances would it be okay for me to put a woman in a headlock. I quite literally laughed out loud when you said you were "being a gentleman' because you didn't punch this girl in the face. There is nothing gentle about you. You and men like you account for 90% of the world's problems. You pretend to be competent men of violence who don't take crap from anyone but you are just idiot man children who never learned to deal with your emotions. You have an inability to use words to solve a problem and that is why you seem to be so proud of all of the fights you are in. In conclusion you add nothing to this planet. You are a waste of the resources you consume. The day you die will be a red letter day for every reasonable, compassionate, GENTLEMAN out there with a Y chromosome.

Yeah!

Because if the cops see a car rushing away from a Mexican restaurant, they wonder what's going on!!!shocked tongue2

(No offense intended, to anyone)

No offense? Really?

You can't type something so offensive and close it with "no offense" to make it okay. Jesus.

You're saying this is a trip with no expectations? No sexual favors or anything like that? Just you wanting to hang out with fun people in a fun vacation spot?

Just had a thought as to the proof of what happened or didn't. Instead of making a knee jerk reaction that she was causing trouble, why not ask those who were in the area if she was telling the truth? They'd have seen what happened and would be able to back up or refute her claims. That would easily take care of who did what right there.

Typical bar procedure is calling the police if someone is struck. Both parties can give their stories to the police. Usually both parties are booted from the premise and 911 is called. This douche, let the dude who was disrespectful stay AND bought him a drink. I don't even know how he has the job that he does.

Indeed. As for the cops part, I think for a case like this having them get involved is a little much, but then I'm not exactly the biggest fans of em at times to begin with. That's a whole other topic though, Bottom line is, in this instance not sure you need to get them involved, but that's just me.

Where I work, we are required to call the cops if we as much as kick someone out of the bar. They will ask on the phone if we need an officer sent over, but most of the time it's not necessary. If someone is injured, then yes, police should be informed. It's not up to the "door guy" or "club promoter" who probably hates girls because he never gets laid to buy the sexual harasser a congratulatory drink.

I understand what you're saying, just don't fully agree. Maybe I'm a little biased, as I think the law tends to abuse it's power a bit much anymore, and also feel we rely on it more then we should, but again that's just how I see it.

This isn't about law. This isn't about police. Of course police abuse their power. Every damn day. This is about a guy who thinks he can get away with touching a stranger however he pleases. If you agree that that's okay, then you also have problems, young man.

Oh no, don't misunderstand me, I am not saying this guy is excused at all for touching the girl. I didn't mean to imply I was ok with it, heck I've been defending the opposite the whole time lol. Just as far as the cops procedure, I'm not all that wild about that that's all.

Sorry if I made you think I was ok with the guy touching the girl, cause I'm not at all.

I'm not going to stay awake any longer and be more upset by any of this, so I'll leave you all with this to read...

Namely, this point... "The victim does not have to be the person directly harassed but can be anyone who finds the behavior offensive and is affected by it."

Honestly, I can't even believe this thread is a three page argument. There should be no argument at all. The guy was in the wrong. You don't touch another person. Someone mentioned above, if this **** did this at work to coworker or customer, he would be fired instantly, and most likely sued. Also, the dude would be equally angry if someone did the same thing to his mother/sister/aunt/wife or girlfriend. Come on people.
