I've seen it here in WI as well. It's nothing like seeing them in Alaska though. I'd fly to Alaska just for that...

I'm sure most will come home and be just fine. We mustn't generalize from a few bad individuals -- however it's the government's responsibility to assess each and every one of them for post-traumatic conditions that may put ex-soldiers and the people around them in danger.

Most will come home but they will not be fine.

They will continue fighting the war in their heads for years after.

The responsibility of the govt doesnt mean they will actually take it up!

I agree. The Gov't has done a fairly poor job of insuring that returning soldiers get the physical and mental health care that they require -- and probably wont being fixing the system until after the election. It's a tragedy all it's own really.

people are good because they are god's creation but their hearts are evil - this comes from unbelief and living in sin.flowerforyou

There are thousands of religions and they are all man made kinda of politics . How many wars , pain , suffering and injustices were committed in the name of religion ?. Humans history is my witness .

Humans are just another dumb animal, on a speck of dust, in a solar system, in a galaxy, in a universe, full of trillions of other galaxies -- probably filled with other solar systems and other specks of dirt populated by other dumb animals. Nothing more, nothing less.

Belief in a religion is no defining element of one's morality. If you need a holy book, savior, God, or whatever to see reason in maintaining a basic sort of morality -- one could question your reasoning for being "moral" and weather or not you are "moral" at all. Put a gun to my head and I'll tell you anything you want to hear. :)

please some one tell me what you think. as a small kid. i was four years old. i moved to USA. from Ukraine. so after 43 years in America, i still consider myself a Russia, is there anything wrong with take pride in your country.

I don't see how one can be proud of something he/she has not accomplished. One can be proud of winning an award, placing first, or bettering one's self -- but certainly one cannnot be proud of having been coincidentally born on some proportioned chunk of dry land. Patriotism and nationalism have a tendency to muffle reality -- and this goes for all countries.

oh yea and for your information gorge w bush wasnt the reason iraqis were dying do some home work he was killing his own people its called genocide

No he wasn't. You generalize the gassing of the Kurdish rebels back in the 80's to be a rough guesstimate of how Saddam ruled over Iraq. Prior to the invasion -- people could leave their homes safely, people could attain educations (even women), and overall they lived fairly care-free lives. Today the place is completely trashed. A friend of mine living in Iraq once coined it to be "post-apocalyptic" in nature. Saddam was no saint, but in contrast with any other regional dictator he was quite mild.

you need a serious reality check if you can honestly ask a question like that people forget so quickly what that day was like and i really truly belive that would be the most unamerican thing you could ever ask

What day? If you're asserting that 911 had anything to do with Iraq, Saddam, or anything in that ballpark -- you should seriously reassess your knowledge of world affairs.

If the Mayans were sooo smart and could predict the future then why were they tricked and enslaved by the Spanish, looted of there gold and culture destroyed especially when they outnumbered them 10 to 1. Sorry but Im calling HORSE-SHEET herehappy

They definitely had the numbers, but no real unity. The Mayans were little more than a few deviant metropolises and a ton of little stick and stone villages -- The Spaniards had guns...

My 3 wishes before 2012...

1. Finish college
2. Pay off college
3. Get really far away from the US

The Mayan calender ends in 2012. What do you all think will happen. Some think it will be the end of the world....o0o0ok sounds cultish. Will it just be an outdated calender. Or dose it really mean anything?scared surprised  drinks

My calendar ends at 12am 12-31-08.... doubting an apocalypse though. Perhaps the simplest answer to the Mayan calendar ending on 12-12-12 is that they ran out of stone to carve it on.

Why does religion have anything to do with the presidential election? As far as I'm concerned, it's a complete non-entity. Sacrificing animals, talking to yourself, and hoping really really hard is not going to effect the outcome of anything. Vote, be heard, and we'll see what happens.

Thats the smartest thing someone has said in these political threads in a long time................kudos

Many thanks. drinker

Islamists, Communists, Tyrants, Nationalists, Billionaire Socialists, and the Politically Correct Apologists that allow them to thrive.

That's the real axis of evil.

Socialists? Who has a problem with helping each other out?

There is no such thing as "evil." "Evil" is just a linguistic label we have for things we find to be in bad taste. Even Adolf Hitler considered himself to be a "good" person -- while many I am sure might disagree. Though because he acted under his own deluded guise of "goodness", he cannot be an "evil" person as he did not consider his actions to be "evil".

I think they should only serve as long as the people who elected them allow them to serve. If they're doing a good job, they stay -- if not -- they go. For every government position -- why should we be paying people to do a **** job? That's my take on it.
