A Valuable Lesson~~

Oh, wow! Very deep thoughts. Would that more people were so willing to make a sacrifice for someone else's benefit. Would that fewer people would fly in the face of such selfless generosity.

I like those. If anyone else would like, you may absolutely post some ideas. I don't think that we should limit ourselves to everyone doing the same thing, as it may not be practical for everyone. I believe some of you have to work that evening. This sounds like it will be fun!

As you can see, I collect lots of antiques. I love old artwork, pictures, frames, some furniture, black and white etchings and drawings, old costume jewelry. I think it's about envisioning the past and who might have had the item and what kind of life they lead. I think it's sentimental too, particularly if the item belonged in your family. How wonderfully quaint! I love it. |

I love antique furniture, the craftsmanship, the beauty, the practicality that went into making them. I walked into an antique store recently and saw an (almost) identical chair to what my grandmother has in her dining room. I say almost because Gramma's chairs are in better shape than the one in the store. I remember Gramma would tell us when we were little that these chairs are older than she is, and one of the very few things that Gramma would yell or scold about was if one of us rocked back on 2 legs on these chairs. |

Wood burning stoves and kerosene lanterns. Hear here!! Some day I'd like to live in a ramote part of the mountains in a tiny cabin with no electricity and grow and raise and hunt my own food, and make my won clothes and stuff from those byproducts, and just live a peaceful, quiet, calm existance. Don't some of those old lamps also burn animal fats? Of course, I could dip tallow candles, too. I love old candle holders. And poetry books. |

Danger At Work!!!

Bonny, I have to ask: since you got kicked, did you file an injury/incident report? Also, did you make copies of the footage? (Are you even allowed to?) Is this a reform school, or an inner city school, or some other institute? I think it is appalling that other staff wouldn't help, especially the restraint-trained man with whom you work. I think I would look at the (employee) handbook to see what is acceptable and what your employer considers to be appropriate channels for complaints, and file complaints against the teens, the restraint-trained man, and the other staff members who walked by without assisting, within those guide-lines. Also, see if there are any kind of commendations or official appreciations that can be issued to the kids that did help.
It's a shame that they only teach the "Character Counts" program in the second grade, and then only in some schools. I think it should be mandatory from kindergarten through 12th grade. Maybe then some of these kids would have known that even just cheering at the fight is wrong. |

please do not use verses out of context and or without the verses around it so it is seen to what is being talked about Why not? People do it all the time, and clergy are the worst. It's a common occurrance when discussing any religious text, no matter which religion it is. |

I'm going to plan to do mine at 8PM central time on February 2. (Also happens to be my 40th birthday.) If anyone else would like to try for that same time, or any time that evening, feel free. I'd like to know who all else is planning to be involved, so that it feels more like a group ritual, even if we aren't in the same place. Easier to visualize if we know who's participating.

Oh, yeah, there's life out there. It may take a while to sort between the intelligent ones and the, well, um, others, but be patient and have fun. You'll get there.

Ever start your car and go back in your house while you wait for it to warm up? This is called puffing and is illegal. This is considered illegal where you are? It is practically neccessary here in North Dakota, at least in the winter. Amazing what different states will consider to be illegal. |

Actually, a person without a license can own a car. when my mother was still having seizures, she and Dad looked into it. A person without a license can own and insure a car, and have it so that someone else can drive them around. You don't have to be a licensed driver to own a car, just to operate one. As far as the rest, did you surrender your Florida license when you got the PA license, or were you holding both of them? Any place I've ever lived, it was a requirement that you surrender the previous state's license, expired or not. I know, too, that when I moved to ND 5 yrs ago, I had no problem getting a regular license transferred from Indiana, but a few months ago when I got my CDL again, Indiana had a block on any CDL in my name because I hadn't had the money to get the physical when it was time to renew the license. Indiana noted it as a medical restriction against a CDL for me in any state, and Indiana had to lift the restriction. So PA isn't the only state that can mess with you as far as medical restrictions across state lines. I'd say, contact PA to get a written list of what it will take to get this straightened out. It must be written, so that when you check off each "to do" on it, they can't say that you didn't do it. Then submit the paperwork. If they still won't lift the restriction after you go through all of this, then it may be in your best interest to hire an attorney. A bit expensive, but to get legal, it may be worth it in the long run.
