I recently started chatting with a man that was interested in meeting and I too am interested.

HOWEVER, he wanted to meet at his apartment. The fact that I have at least half a brain has forced me to decline his offer, and suggested we meet in a public place.

His response was almost angry, and he said that if I feel unsafe forget it. My response was that if I felt unsafe I wouldnt meet at all however I feel its best for BOTH of our safety that we meet in public.

My question is to those that feel its ok to meet someone for the first time in such a personal setting. WHY? And if someone you may be interested in feels that it is uncomfortable why would you push the issue?

Needless to say I am not going to meet him. Even in public. Just not worth the hassle. But I am interested to know why some men (and maybe women) become almost hostile when first meeting.

This has happened to me once before, where I went to meet a man at a casino, and when I got there and called him to find out where exactly to meet, he directed me to his hotel room....I left that time too.

 I would be thrilled if cupid would just send me a loyal man with which I had fun and passion for that I could snuggle all the days of my life.

10-12% is obsurd! Who would give that kind of rate? Not here? Mortgage rates at their worst is 8%...even FHA..If you can get 4% your doing pretty well!

So if the bank pays you 10% to "hold" your money and then they lend it out to someone else and charge them 8%...they are losing money.

When mortgage rates rise so will the interest a bank will pay you to "hold" your money.

usually nothing can be seen until at least 6 weeks. If your placenta is enlarged it could be a sign of diabetes. In any case these are questions that should be posed to your doctors. You are extemely early in your pregnacy. Did they say if your cervix was completely shut? If its not that can be a sign of spontaneous abortion.

Again, these are all questions that need to be posed to your physicians.

I just didn't date much when my boys were young..they never met anyone. Now they are old and big enough to defend themselves. When they were younger..yeah, I kept them safe and out of harms way, to the extent of giving up my own dreams at times.

That may work if you were young when you had your children. Im a bit older than mothers of children the same age as mine. I dont have men to my house. I check the sex offender registry regularly. And, I use caution when I feel appropriate. I am not going to push my child infront of a bus. But I am not going to keep her in a bubble either.

I am much more concerned about what is going on in school when I am not there, than when she is safe in our home.

This reminds me of an old song.

The Snake

On her way to work one morning
Down the path along side the lake
A tender hearted woman saw a poor half frozen snake
His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew
"Poor thing," she cried, "I'll take you in and I'll take care of you"

"Take me in tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake

She wrapped him all cozy in a comforter of silk
And laid him by her fireside with some honey and some milk
She hurried home from work that night and soon as she arrived
She found that pretty snake she'd taken to had bee revived
"Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake

She clutched him to her bosom, "You're so beautiful," she cried
"But if I hadn't brought you in by now you might have died"
She stroked his pretty skin again and kissed and held him tight
Instead of saying thanks, the snake gave her a vicious bite

"Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake

"I saved you," cried the woman
"And you've bitten me, but why?
You know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die"
"Oh shut up, silly woman," said the reptile with a grin
"You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in

"Take me in, tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman," sighed the snake

I dont get out enough to have been stood up....HOWEVER, I did once drive to Atlantic City to meet a man who insisted dress nicely for dinner and promised to pay for my sitter.
I agreed to meet him on the casino floor (which is a VERY safe place to meet someone...cameras and security everywhere)
He tells me when I get to the casino to call him. I did. He proceeds to give me directions to his HOTEL ROOM!noway ....I am like UMMM NOOOO, I am not going to meet you in your room...he repeats the directions and room number...like IM THE JERK!mad

Needless to say I hung up the phone, got back in the car and drove 45 minutes back home..in my NEW outfit and payed the sitter and was PISSED!rant

But in a few days I realized, its all for the best....yeah there were better things I could have done with my time and money...but I figured it out early....he's a jerk....better to figure it out now than in 6 monthssurprised

I find it interesting that a few of you mentioned things like "too soon" or "too fast"....

I was refelecting on personal relationships...this is true. However one was 14 years and one was 2 years....neither I would consider short amounts of time.

More of a reflection of myself...but I can see how in the short term that is when many have high expectations.

I personally believe I am opposite in a NEW relationship, but after some time I tend to let my guard down and let too much other stuff cloud my vision.

Interesting perspectives though.

I am just wondering if we really get hurt by others, or do we hurt ourselves.
Meaning do we allow people into our lives and expect things that they cannot or will not provide, and then are hurt by our own expectations.

What is your opinion?
