The Omen (1976)
The film seemed to fall victim to a sinister curse. Star Gregory Peck and screenwriter David Seltzer took separate planes to the UK...yet BOTH planes were struck by lightning. While producer Harvey Bernhard was in Rome, lightning just missed him. Rottweilers hired for the film attacked their trainers. A hotel at which director Richard Donner was staying got bombed by the IRA; he was also struck by a car. After Peck canceled another flight, to Israel, the plane he would have chartered crashed...killing all on board. On day one of the shoot, several principal members of the crew survived a head-on car crash. The jinx appeared to persist well into post-production... when special effects artist John Richardson was injured and his girlfriend beheaded in an accident on the set of A Bridge Too Far (1977). |

Just went shopping today and OMFG have meat prices gone through the roof since I last left the house...
$8-a-pound for the 70/30 ground beef... Was able to get a bunch of pork that was getting ready to pass the sell-by expiration tomorrow at half price and that still was well above its value. Just spent an hour grinding up the meat and got 14 meals worth...still at over $2 a meal for meat that shouldn't have sold for more than $1 a pound...full of fat and bone laced thru... |

Later Holmes was truly brought back to life in The Adventure of the Empty House. At the start of the story Watson is alone. His wife is dead and he believes Holmes to be dead as well. However Watson learns that Holmes’s death was a ruse to hide from Moriarty’s associates.

The Internet is one of mankind's greatest accomplishments in history and it's used mostly for porn and watching kitty videos. We have the Library of Alexandria at our fingertips and where almost any answer to any question can be answered like we have our own personal Oracle of Delphi in our pocket.
The internet in itself may not be at risk, but the telecom industry sure is. Most telecom satellites are not heavily shielded and are open to the possible destruction via X-Class solar flares. We haven't been hit for a couple of centuries now. The last time was before all of the current technology existed so nobody is completely sure about how it will fare down here on the planet, but we do know that most of the non-military satellites will be fried when it eventually happens and the military ones won't be able to handle the civilian workload. https://www.newscientist.com/article/2150350-a-tech-destroying-solar-flare-could-hit-earth-within-100-years/# “Back then, there was not very much technology so the damage was not very significant, but if it happened in the modern world, the damage could be trillions of dollars,” says Loeb. “A flare like that today could shut down all the power grids, all the computers, all the cooling systems on nuclear reactors. A lot of things could go bad.” Loeb says an event as powerful as the 1859 one could cause about $10 trillion of damage to power grids, satellites and communications. A flare just a bit stronger could even damage the ozone layer. Previous work has shown that such an event seems likely to occur in the next century, with a 12 per cent chance of it happening in the next decade, but nobody seems to be all that worried, Loeb says. |

The Covid-19 story is dead in America.
Oh, the media are still parroting numbers, but all the passion for the topic has gone out of their eyes. It won't last much longer before it's a forgotten topic. Unless all this protester commingling brings out a new wave of black death for the country. It's all protests all the time now. That's the new crisis that has them looking like Mr. Dithers from The Simpsons. The Media knows they need to rabble-rouse the black community to come out and support Joe Biden and this is their key to get them to the polls. He really hasn't been doing a good job of exciting them to action, that's why all the talk about putting a black woman on the ticket as VP. Now they need to hide his latest blunder. On May 22nd, Joe Biden told a black radio host that “if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black,” remarks his campaign characterized as joking but that some black Democrats said were dismissive of their concerns. https://www.wsj.com/articles/joe-biden-to-black-radio-host-if-youre-deciding-between-me-or-trump-then-you-aint-black-11590166629 |

We had 3 dry days in a row. Only 14+ inches up above average for the yearly rainfall total. Was able to go out and actually attack part of the jungle and get the dog's yard and the back yard before the pain got too intense. Severe weather is predicted for today and tomorrow. High should hit in the mid-80s before the storms hit this afternoon.

nice doubletalk...no answers.
The people demanding change are the same ones that have been running the show in these cities for decades... Democrats have run Chicago since 1931...when do they get around to showing us how to fix the problems of society? Philadelphia since 1952... Washington D.C. since 1961...Boston since 1930...St. Louis since 1949...New Orleans since 1872...Atlanta since 1879... When do we get to see the magic? 150 years isn't enough time to bring about hope and change? |

Surprise, surprise the autopsy showed fentanyl intoxication and recent methamphetamine in this felon that many are calling a hero, along with hypertensive heart disease. The black folks really need to find some new hero's besides OJ, Bill Cosby, Tupac, and Rodney King. I know many people including many politicians that would like nothing more than to see all 4 officers drug thru the streets and lynched with out due process, and at this point it is far too late to ever get the truth. However the initial report of the cops included Floyd stumbling and the reason they took him from the back of the car to the ground was because he was having trouble breathing. The officers laid him on his side and restrained him thinking this was in the best interest of everybody's safety including Floyd's, clearly the ambulance was on its way as it arrived shortly after they did this. These cops have some medical training but in no way are they professionals or able to know what to do in every situation. Floyd was acting paranoid and clearly the fentanyl, meth, and problems breathing could have been the only factors that caused his death. There is no proof that the restraint is what actually killed him but in this curupt world we live we will never know. BLM and the Democrats have far too much to gain to ever have the truth known! Your so right when you say he didn't deserve to die like that, he shouldn't have been on drugs, and he should have obeyed the police's orders and the whole world would be a much better place. His brother said they were a peaceful god fearing family, I wonder how peaceful that armed robbery was he committed was? Dealing with someone who is intoxicated or high on drugs does not negate the officer’s responsibility to maintain safety ... To be honest ., watching the videos that are circulating . I saw no concerning behaviour from George .. Just from the policemen . Especially the officer on his neck with hands in his pocket . I wonder how much he weighed ??? 4 mins without oxygen to the brain is enough to cause irreversible brain damage . We know there was at least three minutes no pulse was detected . When we use any kind of restraint in the hospital .. there is a very strict protocol which needs to be followed including frequent safety Reassessments . I am sure police restraint carries that same obligation. . https://www.tmz.com/2020/06/01/george-floyd-cause-of-death-heart-attack-fentanyl/ |

Unfortunately, he was a one hit wonder. He did a great drunk and Arthur was his only success IMO. I've watched many of his other works (Wholly Moses, 10, Santa Claus, Arthur 2) and he just didn't have the same pizzazz. His interaction and timing with Sir John Gielgud were OUTSTANDING. Perhaps it was the skill of Gielgud that brought out his best...He just never evolved beyond the happy drunk.

All Americans were rightly sickened by the brutal death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week, President Trump says. “My administration is fully committed that, for George and his family, justice will be served. He will not have died in vain.”
Four days ago, another African-American man was killed, this time gunned down while standing outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Oakland, California. Dave Patrick Underwood isn’t a household name. His death didn’t make nearly as many headlines. But his life mattered, too, and his murder should sicken every American. Underwood was a law enforcement officer in the Federal Protective Service. He and a colleague were standing guard when the gunshots came, killing Underwood and sending his fellow officer to the hospital in critical condition. Oakland’s interim police chief says the shooting was most likely an attack that deliberately targeted uniformed officers. All across America, violent domestic terrorists have exploited the real hurt and pain felt by thousands of peaceful protesters. The need to save innocent lives and protect our most vulnerable communities from these criminals should be obvious to every peace-loving citizen. Yet media talking heads and opportunistic politicians would rather keep exploiting fear instead of solving the problem and restoring order. That’s unacceptable. “If a city or a state refuses to take the actions that are necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them,” President Trump said in an address last night. Ending domestic terrorism shouldn’t be a partisan issue that Democrats leave to Republicans. Neither should loudly supporting the thousands of decent, brave law enforcement officers who put themselves on the line every night to keep us safe. Violence against police officers is an affront to everything America stands for. Stories about the assaults against them over the past week need to be told, even if corporate media executives decide that it isn’t the “right” narrative to push: A Las Vegas officer is on life support after a gunshot to the head. Four police officers were shot last night during riots in St. Louis. An NYPD officer was struck by a vehicle in an apparent hit-and-run. Violent thugs beat a police officer on the streets of New York. How does any of this help our nation heal from the tragedy in Minnesota? It doesn’t. No American, from any community, should ever feel unsafe on our streets—and that includes those who risk their lives to protect us. The rule of law applies to everyone, from bad cops who abuse their power to violent rioters who attack the police. |
