It won't leave you totally alone, you have your son and your new love. My kids loved my mom too...until they got old enough where she started interfering in their lives. I explained it to my boys and cut the ties. It's been about 6 years now.

Your son does not need to be around two alcoholics for any reason. Aren't you afraid of what might happen? Not to mention that he will see how they live as "normal" and may decide to identify with their values. Is that want you want? It will just perpetuate the madness.

There are no healthy boundaries with this kind of thing. And while my mother wasn't bipolar, she is a raging alcoholic. I tried the boundary thing...it didn't work. I tried counseling and that didn't work. So from my experience you need to run and not look back. It's not easy and of course there is guilt but it is better in the long run. You do not owe her just because she is your mother.

I don't know if this affects anyone on here. Just passing it along.

I am not defending what she did...but why is she an idiot exactly? Because she believed him (about not being married) or because she feels like she needs revenge?

Good advice but she isn't too trusting of anyone right now. I do think she needs to talk to someone though because I have never seen her like this.

Well, hopefully she'll calm down. Of course i don't know how quick she'll believe someone next time who says that they aren't married.

As for the lawyer thing..she said because she is/was his patient and he crossed a line.

A friend of mine has been going to this doctor. He got "friendly" with her and then they started seeing each other. Now it turns out that he's married and his wife found out and booted his ass out. Now he says he can't see her anymore. Of course, she is hurt and pissed and ready to "make him pay".

She said she is calling her lawyer. I told her I didn't think anything would come of it other than public humiliation for everyone involved.

What do you guys think she should do other than find a single..truly single...guy and forget about all of this.
