analogy:

a bull rider gets hurt from bull riding...do you blame the bull for doing what is natural to him? or does the rider take on responsibility for accepting the risks?
Galveston Texas is a good analogy...Havnt heard "What thats gonna cost me!!!!! Lets Stop all coastal development then!!!!!!!!!!! We will put a 500 mile no living zone around the country!!!! If a town is hit a disaster they get just one shot then we close them down...Hell lets use eminent domain and take the property from the people!!!! GAL!!!!!!!!!!

temp...nature can strike anywhere...there are just places that are more high risk than others....but yo uare prepared (as much as possible) I haven't been struck by a tornado but I'm as prepared as I can be

FEDERAL DISASTER ASSISTANCE ISN'T THE ANSWER.
To be eligible for Federal disaster assistance, a flood must be declared a disaster by the President. Although floods can be extremely damaging to property and personal possessions, they are often too small or local to be declared Federal disasters. Even if your area did qualify for Federal assistance after a flood, this assistance is often a loan that has to be repaid with interest. Grants may also be available to those who qualify, but the average grant amount is $2,500. It pays to protect your property with National Flood Insurance!

that is from FEMA
National Flood Insurance is issued through FEMA....To me its not "Not that expensive considering your homeowners insurance pays nothing in a flood...IF you live in a flood zone..

After the hurricanes in Florida, there was a problem on what determines flood damage from water damage caused by wind damage..Some folks had their homes hit and damaged by 2 storms...

Insurance companies screwed the same people paying out the azz to be covered!!!!

As far as "FEMA"....As you wrote the assistance from them in very limited....NOW IT IS!!!!!!! The money wasted in Florida should have been givin to the state..They were the ones that prepared to deal with it and "DID A GREAT JOB WITHOUT THE FEDS" in doing so!!!!

I guess I will continue paying big $$$$$ for coverage that might not be there anyway!!!! But I will pay it to live in "Paradise".....oops offtopic

The trailers....The cost of transporting and setting up is probably more than their worth...IMO dont bring cheap trailors into a hurricane zone...

temp...I guess you are paying for nothing. But if you didn't have insurance and you knew it would happen again and again...would you stay?
There was such a down right criminal way the insurance companies did people after the hurricanes here!!!! DOWN RIGHT CRIMINAL!!!!!! These people had insurance only to get F........in the end..So look at people who had insurance.

Would I????? As winx has said some people dont have that choice.

WOW!

Flood insurance is issued by FEMA separate from you homeowners.

Florida is best in the world for hurricane response. One thing we can thank a Bush for, Jeb not W... Florida has shown how state and local levels should respond....

As far as trailers being brought into a hurricane zone even as temporary housing???? The problem is they become permanent because of the cost...Its not a solution especially in a hurricane zone...

Need to move the trailers out of harms way not bring in more...I know, not everyone can afford it...Charley took out 37 trailer "PARKS"( Not trailers whole Parks) in Punta Gorda... Leveled them..Most older mobile homes are impossibale to insure..Do I want more brought in? IMO NO!

I "PAY" to have my home covered and carry flood insurance...

The MOBILE homes they bring in are not even the better built ones...Certainly fall way below hurricane codes!!!AND certainly cost alot to transport and set up!!!

what boogles my mind, as well, is not having flood insurance (some people). I know it's expensive, but it is what is needed if people live in a flood zone, especially on the coast or where a hurricane can damage the house
Its not the poor smuck who cant pay that boggles my mind...Do some research on homes rebuilt on some of the barrier islands by tax payer money...One home off of Alabama was rebuilt 17 times...A MULTI million dollar home rebuilt by you and me!!!!!

Its costly to transport these trailors..It might be cost effective to leave them where there at...I seen the "Trailors" they moved into the Punta Gorda area after charley and to move them and set them up probabaly costs more than they are worth...

Sending trailers to a hurricane zone always made me go HMMMMMMMMMMMM.... (MORE PROJETILES FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!)I live iN A HURRICANE ZONE one and have seen what these storms can do..

There's 13 people per sq. mile in the world and it's overpopulated? Just because here in america we consume every natural resource ad-infinitum, doesn't mean the world's on that pace. But what if everyone was gay, then we all die within 2 generations and bam, no more human race, sounds fun.
Hmmm where do all those pesky gays come from????? rofl rofl rofl rofl Get real man!!!!

I still like the idea of losing your license at a certain age.smokin

why should all suffer for the acts of a few

and what

i have seen a lot of middle aged people that should not be driving

maybe seeing as motor vehicle lead to the death and injury to so msny they should just be banned completely
drinker What about the youngins. IMO some of the worst drivers are teenage girls! Should we bring the driving age up to 21?
