Well,I have no intention of living forever; my hope is to live fully, and having fully operational lungs are a big asset in attaining a fully functional life. Cigarette smoke is a pollutant and does have an effect on those around you. Our ozone has taken a beating thanks to all the pollutants,i.e.: tobacco, factories, aerosoles, etc. I don't argue the fact that you have a choice as to smoke or not to smoke. I agree it is a right for all of you to be able to smoke....however, where is my right to choose whether or not I breathe clean air as opposed to 2nd hand smoke? Maybe smokers are not allowed to smoke in as many places any more, but still, you have more choice as to when and where you light up. We, the diseased, are not afforded such a luxury as to the quality of air we breathe.
I appreciate respectful smokers. I feel no one should tell you whether or not you may smoke in your own home, either. I feel you have the right to smoke as much as you want in your home and car, places that permit smoking, etc. Just try to respect the rest of us who were born with bad respiratory systems. One day, if you fall victim to emphysema or c.o.p.d. you will understand a little more of my feelings regarding this issue.
