Canadians don't celebrate both the Canadian October Thanksgiving for the harvest, and the U.S. Thanksgiving as well? Wasn't that started during the American Revolution when Tories moved to Canada to avoid persecution in the war? I know I'd celebrate both. Hell, I celebrate Boxing day.

I used to live in the city. Had a puppy stolen by an 18th St wannabe. He "found it" for me later after it had been ruined by sparring with pit bulls.

Coming full circle, the National guard Armories in most cities have dinners one can volunteer at, or go to. Many times there will be entertainment. I saw Albert King perform one night. That was after the free dinner, though.

When I was that age, I had to put up with perception as well. Now I'm 38. I stand outside yelling at kids to get out of my yard.

First thing I noticed too. I just chalked it up to the phenomenon that almost every photo of anyone under 25 has them doing a poseur gang sign, the shocker, or a smirk.

Hell, it's Thanksgiving.

Don't sweat it. You have family. You have a job. You aren't alone on days that aren't designated as family holidays.

My perspective is coming from being a bit older, but I have my children every other week. I don't have them this week. My extended family used to be large, but they have moved off or died.

I sat down and worked on a short story. I talke dto my kids on the phone. I played with fire. I had a beer or two. Exercise, coffee, Rockford Files, crossword, posting here. Don't dwell on the sad stuff on a day of Thankfulness. I don't. Not sure if I could.

We had SNOW yesterday. I see on the game that Dallas is getting it right now.
I'm not ready for it. This is January weather. Frost and snow.

To add to this, I wake up this morning to the sounds of the garbage men making their route -- on Thanksgiving. I lose all sense (because my dumpster is close to full), and run out barefoot in shorts. It looks like I'm doing a firewalk on the driveway hauling a mini dumpster behind me. The trash guys are all bundled up, and looking at me like I'm an idiot. I said "Happy Thanksgiving" with one eye open and firewalked back into the house.
