The turkey's done, and I start carving. The knife snags on something. It seems this particular bird died by choking on a large plastic bag filled with turkey guts. Why do they hide those bags so well? There's a whole cavity to put that stuff in, yet they shove the bag down it's throat and cover it with skin.
Happy Thanksgiving. |

Yeah! I got it ready to put in the smoker at 6am -- pre-coffee, and I thought, "hmmm. Just a neck bone? oh, well"

Coffee is usually first, but I was on a mission. Something like 18 degrees outside. That didn't help.
Just thawing the turkey by the pilot light, right? |

We had SNOW yesterday. I see on the game that Dallas is getting it right now.
I'm not ready for it. This is January weather. Frost and snow. To add to this, I wake up this morning to the sounds of the garbage men making their route -- on Thanksgiving. I lose all sense (because my dumpster is close to full), and run out barefoot in shorts. It looks like I'm doing a firewalk on the driveway hauling a mini dumpster behind me. The trash guys are all bundled up, and looking at me like I'm an idiot. I said "Happy Thanksgiving" with one eye open and firewalked back into the house. Brrrrrrrrrr!! |
