Im using windows xp service pack3 and it used to run fast and after it recovrd from unknown error

That's probably where the problem is coming from...
I had this urge to tell you ... Just try re-installing your OS...

If you cannot do this or you want to keep your data like it is, there is a chance you can back-up your files and do a system restore .. likely to hold on to the same thing that is plaguing your system now though.. or you can try scanning it for viruses (I forget if you said you did this or not) .. it might just be a nasty infection... Prolly won't work though... might.

Prolly want to re-install your OS... a hardware issue could have triggered the unknown error... but I had a feeling if you just refreshed your OS you might improve performance just by the way it sounded

please describe that mythical perfect person you have always looked for and no one will ever measure up to, which is why you are single . . .

Wow, what a false assumption that is. I am single because my wife died.

I agree with Navygirl I am not sure whether to say "Sorry to hear that David"

or..

im very sorry to hear that and remember its their loss.

Yeah; I keep hearing that. bigsmile Oh well; as long as my friends care about me and respect me; that's all that counts. No point worrying about things that will never happen. flowerforyou
I would love to find someone , well, like you, in that respect.. one problem with my asian hotties is that they are actually too subserviant... sp? had to teach Abigail NOT to walk behind me for example, and when she wrecked my work truck while practicing to drive, she kept wanting to know when i would take the time to beat her. hmmm

he he. Thanks. My friends seem to think I am a catch because not only am I self sufficient financially; but I can do home renos, cook, and auto mechanics; as well as giving a guy his "me" time. I am also handy with a weapon and a good driver as I drove on the autobahn in Germany. LOL Guess; I am a bit too much for the average guy.

You'd be perfect if you weren't so much taller than me!

I had a boyfriend that was 5'4". I just wore flats when we went out.

Ahh, women who are still in uniform.

Is that good or bad?

goood here:tongue:

Please help the computer was fast and then it rebooted from recovering from serious problem automaticaly. Now it runs very slow and take ten min to boot. Please help

Hello Nice Lady... Long time no see...

Well the other thing is it depends which part of the boot is slow. If it is after the Microsoft Windows Logo and your desktop is showing... one possible solution might be to clear your desktop of actual program files or executables. Replace these icons with short cuts ( right click and drag and drop and it will offer an option menu that will allow you to create a shortcut ).

Often what happens is you load your Desktop with too much memory. After your computer is up and running it will run fine. Though this does hender its performance a little. You will notice it the most when it takes 10 - 30 minutes of very slow operation during the start up, loading all the memory onto your desktop from permanent storage.

Many ppl will say to check the start up folder for un-wanted programs to initalize during start-up.. this is true... However, depending on which version of Windows you have you might have two start up folders and they may not even be visible to you... also not the most likely source for a very very slow start up although could be.

Try that... hope it helps...

I have gotten an HP laptop, but the HDD is locked and when it first boots up, it asks for a password. I don't know the password, so it then locks the HDD and then says operating system not found. It won't boot from a CD either.

It's an HP pavilion ze4400 to be exact. It has also on it, Altec Lansing if that give any bit of important information.

How do I reset this? Doesn't matter if the data on the laptop is loss or anything. I've tried various things I found on google with like pressing F10 and what not. When I do that, it automatically asks for the pass.

The battery should not make a difference becuase the the pw is written in permenant storage and does not require power.

Ok here goes...

There are different pw's .. so lets not assume that it is an encryption key of the HDD for just a moment... kinda screwed if that's the case... but Ill tell you the best way around it.

First off you should be able to enter CMOS set up even without your HDD functioning... that data is stored in firmware on you main board. If it absolutly insists that you enter a pw ( that you are sure is an encryption key for your HDD ) simply remove your HDD from the slot. If you don t know... it is a case on the side of a laptop almost always accessible by pressing a button and ejecting it.

As soon as you press the button that powers on your machine ... look at the top of the screen (usually to the right) and it will say press F-10 through f-12 to enter configuaration or something like that (that is CMOS) or press yada yada for the boot menu. Press the f-whatever button to enter CMOS.. should not require a pw if it does remove your hdd. (ANd will most likely have to replace it if you dont have the encryption key for it and it insists on having one)... Most PC's or laptops have two pw's one is an adminstrator and the other is something I forget. Both can be changed or set from this menu... If you remove your HDD and it still asks for the pw to do anything then this is an admn pw or the other. Both can be changed by pressing a dip switch and resetting it on your main mother board. You'll need to contact the manufacturer of the motherboard for specifics of this switch. But it restores CMOS to its defaults.

Ok .. no problem ... I recomend downloading browsers from that site becuase it was reffered to me by my school while I was in web-design and prolly a more trustable download source for these types of things

here is IE10
http://www.beautyoftheweb.com/perfectfortouch

Not sure were actually fixing the problem here though. Could be anything honestly ... missing file from the System directory... Might need to re-install over your current OS... you say it works in safe mode... which leads me to believe your system might be having problems... unless you just went into safe mode to try your IE browser to see if it worked there.

Usually when it comes to software problems it is much easier to fix it by installing over the problem area. As software is almost impossible to fix any other way.

IE10 is for Micrsoft 8 I believe or at least it for the touch screen. Not sure it will work without one or not.

Your other browsers work so it may not be imparative that you get IE working. If you uninstalled IE and then it said "You have a newer version of this program." when trying to install onto a removed IE. But IE is Microsoft and your on a Microsoft OS presumably so maybe it is hard to remove once up and running. Removing I guess could be trickier then one thinks. If that was the case I would need to be there to engineer a way around it. Not hugely difficult... anybody could do what I would try.. and it would prolly work.

Thanks again...both IE9 and google chrome came factory installed on laptop...IE9 quit working so I went in safe mode and IE9 worked OK..

went back to normal mode and google chrome worked OK...IE9 still would not

some sites I use for business/school recommend IE9 to use for best results...

would like to get it working again rather than redo/relearn where everything is...and the laptop is only 6 months old

I see... software like I said is difficult to repair. In the case of web-browsers unlikely to get it running unless it was a setting you changed. Almost all software problems are fixed by installing new software over it. Software is very technical... unless it is a missing file that needs to be replaced or simply dropped in the proper directory or setting that needs to be changed...it is impossible to fix... you can try un-installing it from your control panel then go scouring through your program files and remove any trace of it. Should even be able to find a program file or two of IE in your Windows or System folder that is a child directory of logical drive C: . Once you do this you may no longer recieve the message that you alrfeady have a current or newer version of IE.

As far as recomending a browser goes it is kind of a style and options preference IE still does not display the HTML5 video and other browsers do. So in that way it is sub-standard but does render graphics better (only slightly and most ppl would not care) then Chrome, from what I have noticed.

Highly recomend Opera... least used browser out there of Mozilla , Chrome, IE and Netscape ( no longer with us ). Quick like Chrome and all the features of IE but not developer oriented like Mozilla

Hmmm tough to say what the problem is...

try this...
Reinstall IE from here ...

The problem could be alot of things though.. including a quirck with your operating system that may or may not go away...

I date who I am attracted to. If it happens to be someone of a different race, that's cool.

I am not attracted to guys who make a huge deal about race, though.
