Before we talk about smaller gov't we need to know what effectual gov't is first. True, but Henry Hazlitt already covered this in his book "Why Government Doesn't Work. I think you mean Harry Browne 1st edition 1995? Thanks, I just downloaded it and it will be next on my list to read. An interesting bit of trivia,,,did you know that at this point in his presidency his approval rating was at 42%,,,,similar path to OBama,,,,so I think you are on to something regarding dreams and hopes... You have pointed out on numerous occasions that it is partisan politics that gets in the way of any true progress and I agree. I was active in politics up until 2006 and quit because all that was ever discussed was how we were going to beat the others guys and jumped on every misquote or bad deed. Living in Canada, we do not have a good political system and our version of Congress is as ineffectual as in the US. The Democrats are very much like the Liberal party in Canada. They just never have their act together and eventually end up losing control of both houses like during the Clinton years. I never wanted to visit the political forums on Mingle but I am still a junkie and oddly still come in here. I do hope to start some posts that talk about the how's and why's change is needed and have discussions on what can be done as opposed to why everything sucks. Government needs to start governing and stop the constant campaigning and bickering. Before we talk about smaller gov't we need to know what effectual gov't is first. I watch "True Blood" on Sunday nights and had a load of laundry on. I really miss being able to hang clothes out on a line. What a great smell and feeling. I'm in an apartment building so use a dryer instead. I always loved to hang bed linens on the line.....the smell makes you sleep like a baby I agree and I think about every time I do laundry. It's just real heart-warming to see everyone jumpin' to the defense of 'The UN' ... amazing that there aren't tears of joy being shed for 'The Economic Miracle' that 'Lord Obama, He Who Is Most High and Most Munificent' (PBUH) because of all the 'good work' he's accomplished in just nineteen short months ... nineteen more like the first nineteen and we won't have a country left to save ... If the USA is so weak that Obama can bring it down in the next 19 months, than it probably isn't worth saving. But since that is plain nonsense, I can guarantee the US won't be destroyed in the short or long term. There are just too many great people trying to build a more robust union instead of always trying to rip it apart with dissension. |

Betty, I am a 10 minute bike ride from Square One and go their to window shop mostly. The best bargain shopping in the city is at "Dixie Outlet Mall. Amazing deals from many of the big names Levi, Top Top and sooo much more. Hi Vivian. I have heard That Chris, but I never have been there. Is that the one that a whole street long, or am I thinking of something else? No it's just a mall, not too big but really amazing deals in virtually every store. It used to be called Dixie Value Mall. hmmmm wonder what I( am thinking of then. Could you be thinking about "Kensington Market" in downtown Toronto? |

I would love to go to Alaska one day or Northern Canada. I still watch re-runs of "Northern Exposure". Just something romantic and raw about the untamed wilderness. Would love to experience a whole year to see almost perpetual dark and light in season.
