The opening scene of "The Jerk" with Steve Martin.... Yeah, speaking of him, the opening scene to L.A. Story was pretty good too. |

Maybe I should've just posted the link
I know this. Just trying to be somewhat funny and post something to go along with the link, but apparently failed. Just check out the link! It's much funnier than I. |

Best one that comes to mind right off hand is the Monty Python coconut scene.

The Smell of Books

Well, I was afraid of this.
Word out in the publishing industry has it that in about 15 years, books will no longer be printed on paper. Things are underway to phase that out. All books will be in digital form and have to be read on paper, a laptop, or electronic readers such as Kindle. But one small consolation is that we won't have to give up that new or used-book smell we bibliophiles love so much. You can go to http://smellofbooks.com/ and buy a product that will take you back to the good ol' days when you could hold a book in your hand and turn the pages. Check out the aromas menu. |

Alright, since nobody else will evaluate you, I will. meh...could use some more stuff. Good basic info, but could use some elaboration, and more about what makes you...you.
I'd take out the IM info if I were you. You're not very likely to get very many women wanting to chat on Yahoo right off the bat. Exchanging a few e mails here first is your best bet; also some forum posting. Putting your Yahoo IM out there like that kind of conveys a sense of desparation and wanting to get things moving too quick, whether you intend it to or not. There ya go. That's honest. I wish you luck. |

PDFs and pictures

I was not passing judgement at all on anyone. I was simply stating a point. The fact of the matter is it would not matter if it was a picture of him or anyone else. The image is the copyright property of the person that takes the picture in the first place. The only exception to that would possibly be movie stars or pictures of signs or other trademarked items. So, why should movies stars have any more ownership rights to their photos than the typical average Joe? The idea of taking a screen shot which is nothing more then a low quality image of a copyrighted image to allow it to be modified is still both un-ethical and illegal according to the copyright and patent law. Ethics vary a great degree depending on the intent of the picture's user. I often find mechanical details in PDF format I would like to place into a CAD drawing without having to draft them out myself. It would make it much easier on me to be able to crop and insert part of the PDF into the construction document and direct the contractor to consult the PDF than to have to redraw the hardware myself, and much easier on the contractor to be able to see the detail right there on the respective page of the construction documents than to have to look through a different spec book. How is that unethical? It is so easy to scan any image from nearly any medium, turn it into a JPEG, edit however you'd like, and resell it (if that's your intent). Then it's easy enough for the original owner to file a law suit once they find that their picture is being used for profit without permission. But there are several instances in which it would be practical and perfectly harmless to be able to save a picture from a PDF file. As for the OP, I'd say do what everybody else says or do what I do and print it and scan it, but no, I won't tell you that because I don't wanna be unethical or violate copyright laws. |

Can time or movement stop?

Time is nothing more than a measurement system of sequential relations frome one event to another, measured in universal alloted units created by man. If we were to stop keeping track of said units, then yes, time could stop.
Movement, no, unless you manage to get rid of all matter in the universe, or collapse it all into a singular mass so dense, with a gravitational pull so strong, that there is absolutely no room for the subatomic particles within the mass to vibrate. Even particles in masses at the lowest temperatures vibrate a little. So theoretically, again, you'd have to condense the particles so tightly that they cannot move, or get rid of all matter and energy in the universe, but then, matter and energy are neither created nor destroyed, but simply change form, so good luck with that one. Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. |

Roommate Wars!!!!

I've never had roommates but I can assure you if I did I would not deal with situations in a passive aggressive manner... If I have an issue with someone I talk to them about it even if I have to wait until my temper wains a bit... I would never do something so rude and disgusting.. If I wanted to do things like that then I shouldn't be living with that person... Karma is a biotch I don't live my life looking over my shoulder... Why live in a constant battle with a roommate? Just find a new one, new place to live, or something. Worst thing I ever did: told him to get a job and pay some rent after living with me for free for months...maybe told him to do some chores every once in a while. Yeah, Karma sure came back to bite me in the a$$ for that one. He robbed me and disappeared while I was in class one day. I could go to war with him. I'd like to beat him down for the ways he took advantage of me and stabbed me in the back like that, but nah, he'll get what's coming to him. |

I dunno. Why is a blue room relaxing or cooling? Why does red indicate a mistake, love/passion, or rage? Why does black make a space look smaller? Colors affect us, no matter what sex, no matter what the surface to which the color is applied.

No time like the present. If you think anyother point in time was the "Good Ol' Days", Penn & Teller did an interesting episode about that. Not saying today is any better or worse; every time period had its problems...just saying there's no time like the present.

A Tank of Gas...

it takes two fill-ups to make it to detroit and back, so about 2 hours before a half a tank is consumed. i ride the harley as much as i can to leave the trucks and car at home. far more economical, and i may spend 20.00 a week that way. Oh how I miss my rocket. Even when the gas was $4/gallon, it still only cost $10 to fill the tank and I still got 350+ miles out of it...and fast too! Not that it guzzled the gas fast; I just covered the miles that way. *edit ...wait a minute...that can't be right; that's over 100 MPG. OK, so maybe it wasn't 350+ miles to a full tank, or maybe it cost a bit more than $10 to fill up, or maybe I hurt my head a little when I crashed it and can't remember the numbers...but I do remember great mileage and covering it quickly. |

A Tank of Gas...
|

Maybe I was overestimating the gas prices a little bit. I do remember right after Hurricane Katrina, Georgia had a gas shortage that resulted in long lines outside the few stations that actually had gas...somethiung about the refineries being shut down and GA having some sort of special bland of gas compared to the rest of the country fo pollution control...or whatever the gas companies made up to run the prices up to well over $4/gal. Anyway, yeah they were pretty high at one point, but haven't really been that high since. Last time I checked, which was probably about 3 weeks ago (still have well over a half a tank left from then), I think it was in the upper $3 range and cost a little over $40 to fill the tank.
