Personally,
I think that every pc should have a reliable backup program like Acronis True Image (not free but well worth the money) on as well as a decent anti virus program as well (AvG is still free and works fine if you keep it updated and run it regularly. |

well did you meet any more new people you did not know before? Have you been posting regularly? Do you communicate with anyone on a regular basis so you can get to know each other better? If you are doing all these things then what is the problem as it seems to me you get what you put into this site in general.
I do not even have a photo of myself online and have met new people and type to them. I have even met one in person and took her out to eat in real life. There are plenty of people on here that are nice and real and your age as well. |

Have you seen the Kaspersky Internet suite yet? I used to use it and it is by far the most secure I have seen on the commercial market. I no longer use it though as I am a student so the school provides me with security and anti virus free of charge.

He wants someone into super computing maybe he should look up Tim Berners Lee I believe he is still up in cambrige instructing there. That would be the guy to teach him if he can afford the cost. Oh BTW he would have to be accepted as a student of his as well.
http://www.mitadmissions.org/ I thought of him because he is the person who wrote http protocol when he worked at the center for super computing. |

wireless question

I know this is late to chime in here but thought I would anyhow. first off wireless routers are relitively cheap in general you can pay from 30 up to like 300 dollars for different levels of router at a cable /dsl level.
I do not put a heck of a lot of faith in the available level of encription for wireless at this point as I have yet to find a network that even the encripted password could not be discoverd within about 10 minutes if someone is on that network at the time it is being probed anyhow. MOst colleges are wifi but most also will not allow you to hook up your own router either you can use their hardwire connections and their wifi but they frown on you putting in your own router. They also have major issues with people downloading and sharing music files or any other type of copyright protected files or software. There is another suggestion most people do not think of. There are some cell phone carriers such as Sprint that will allow you to use your phone as a modem for an aditional fee. that being the case you could connect to the internet through your cell phone no matter where you are as long as you have a cell signal. Also some phones are wifi capable and will pick up wifi signals and connect you to the web over them as well even without your phone having to dial out. THat service is typically cheaper then the cable or dsl bill if you only need one computer on the internet at a time anyhow. |

that is funny. the keyboard thing.
I think however this guy ( original Poster ) is looking for someone to teach him about hacking like he posted in a different thread. Simple response to his question might be something like given an IP address from a ping getting the street address and registered name and telephone number of that address. Or pin pointing it on a world map. However things like that come from doing a lot of playing around on the web so there are probably dozens of people on here that can do that stuff. I can tell you for sure all the admins here or most web admins for that matter can do that stuff if they wanted or had a desire to. |

Hacking into networks or computers without prior written consent is both illegal and foolish. There are however companies out there that will hire computer specialists to test their network security level. Those companies are typically surprised at how easily a security person can access their networks either on location or off location.
As far as wireless networks go even with the latest encryption available you can hack out entrance password in probably less then 10 minutes with only two computers some online tools and a signal. I will not promote doing that to anyone but it can be easily done. There are websites on the internet that give you step by step directions on how to do it if your that interested. The fact of the matter is that even the idea of doing it and posting it in public might be viewed as conspiracy if anyone were to help you to do it. Another fact is that there is not a person on the planet that knows about "every other geeky functions of d computer". Nobody knows everything about anything in fact. |

I was thinking about this so much I went back and read the rules of the site once more. I believe that even though certain opinions or topics may not be in violation of the rules they can still be censored by the admins at their discretion. That is fine with me personally.
However, the rules do state : 1) Do not attack/slam/insult others. You can discuss the message or topic, but not the messenger - NO EXCEPTIONS. If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, YOU will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself, defending a friend, etc. are NOT excuses. Violations of this rule are taken very seriously and may result in being banned without warning! 2) No explicit, sexual, offensive, insulting or vulgar language. The Mingle2 forums are rated PG-13. The only exception is the Sex and Dating forum which is rated R, NOT X. 3) Hijacking a topic by making posts which are off-topic and unrelated to the original post is considered rude. Please try to keep your posts pertinent to the topic at hand. We will allow some leeway in this area, as there is some amount of "topic drift" that occurs in a normal conversation that we will permit. However, members who we feel are continually and intentionally hijacking topics, especially after having been warned by a moderator, may have their posting privileges suspended. We ask all users to do their best to stay on-topic. That seems to me to be happening in just about every thread I have seen on here in the past week or so to one person or another. It is only human nature to want to defend yourself when you feel like you have been attacked even if it was not intended to be that way in the first place. How many topics have your read lately that stayed on topic? The only reason I posted this question was to find out how others thought of it. I somehow tend to learn new ways of seeing things when I ask a couple questions and get multiple views in response. |

What type of person do you attract?
Your Result: You attract unstable people! Congrats, you are an 'insane' magnet, and you probably have no idea why. Something about your mix of styles, how you walk not just 'one' lifestyle, but appear to have a foot in them all. To the insane, you appear to be a beacon of hope and they will flock to you, like it or not. But, they ARE insane. Lucky for you, the insane tend to be the best sexual lovers, just the rest of the package deal may not be for you. You attract geeks! You attract artsy people! You attract rednecks! You attract Yuppies! You attract models! |

Simple question do you think that people should be able to speak about anything they want on public bulletin boards like here? I am not referring to topics promoting illegal activities or anything like that.
Does everyone have the right to express their opinions even if they are out of the ordinary? If you answered yes to those questions then does everyone have the right to feel they will be safe from being attacked for expressing their opinion? |

When you click on an email address on a web page, most of them are instructing your computer to open your email client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.) and place the address you clicked in the to box. If you don't have any email client installed, for instance you only use yahoo mail, then you will get this message. Also if you have one installed but it is not referenced properly in IE then you will get this message. To check what email client it is attempting to use, in Internet Explorer click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then the Programs tab. The email program is the second one from the top. That comment is very accurate. It sounds to me like the original poster of this thread was trying to use a feature that required an email client such as clicking on a link on a web page that had a mailto command in it. They could easily install outlook express or mozilla thunderbird as both are free and this would solve their problem. However, they may have difficulty putting in the correct settings when setting it up. That information can be found with their email provider . In many cases this is their internet service provider such as cable company or phone company that supplies them connection to the internet. |

Hmmm I smell communism ! There are still scents of communism here in Austria, given it's history, it is always going to be there. From the outside, I can see why people would think like that, but I am sitting on the fence, as to whether it is a good thing or a bad. On the one hand, I think it is good to curtail TV, on the other I can see how people feel about preventing people from doing as they please. Well I do not think it is right to control when or what a person can watch on television. I personally do not watch a lot of television. I own 2 televisions in my house and neither one is connected to antenna, cable , or satellite. I do however have them hooked up to DVD players and a VCR for movies occasionally. It concerns me that some people may have medical issues and be home bound or terminally sick. Those people may want to watch television for entertainment or enjoyment in their final days or hours yet if the stations are not broadcasting they are denied that privilege. |

I asked a question like that of my doctor. I was concerned about getting a headache after taking pain med for a toothache. My doctor took me off of it and told me to mark tha medicine down as being allergic to it.
I did more research on it and found that particular medication was mainly a high dosage of acetaminophen or ibuprofen cant remember now but anyhow the headache was a symptom of overdose. I also had a friend that died a few years ago when she was on pain meds the night she died she was complaining to me of terrible headaches. Her cause of death was overdose. |

Besides that most Restaurants it is against the law to carry a weapon that is concealed. While it may be illegal in Texas for a person to carry a firearm or weapon in any business that is licensed to sell alcohol which may include most of the restaurants in the State of Pennsylvania where I live it is perfectly legal to carry in a restaurant or even a bar. Now personally I do not drink alcohol but if I did with a LTCF here I could carry concealed in a bar and get falling down drunk. Not that it would be the most responsible thing to do but it would not be breaking the law unless I tried to drive home or something stupid. Every state has their own rules and regulations on concealed carry so it is not unusual to have multiple different views on the same subject. There are people that think that unless you need a gun for you job you should not have one. Then there is the others that think the opposite. People like Thomas Jefferson that said it is not only a persons right to keep and bear arms it is their responsibility to do so at all times if they are physically capable of doing so. It was Jefferson and Madison that wrote that into our constitution. The supreme court ruled with the Heller case that that right to keep and bear arms was an individual right and not one of the militia in a landmark case a while back. Many people here in the USA have fought and died to protect the constitution and the bill of rights for us. The second amendment is one of the clearest on the constitution and yet our supreme court still tries to make it less valid or manipulate the wording to take that right away from us. As far as you living in a place that does not have a lot of crime in it or gangs well that is great for you. If you do not see a need to carry or have a desire to then it is your choice. However, If your neighbor or anyone else for that matter decides differently and goes through whatever they need to be able to carry legally you should not have an issue with what they do either. You have your rights and they have their rights. Remember right after the second amendment it said these right shall not be infringed. Technically, that could be interpreted to say that government be it federal or local should not be able to restrict in any way a person from practicing their rights. That is not how it is in today's day and age. Strange thing is Pennsylvania and Texas have a reciprocal agreement that recognizes each others CHL or LTCF. So while I hold a LTCF it allows me to concealed carry in Texas but I would still be bound by Texas laws. I do appreciate your incite about it would send up red flags for you. However, in the state I live I would carry on a date even if it was a first and last date. Now I would conceal it till I knew how the woman felt about it out of courtesy for her even though here I could carry openly if I wanted to. Now if I found out that she was very interested or as I call it pro gun instead of anti gun I might switch to open carry for the comfort of it but that would not be on the first date anyhow most likely. I guess it is part of my persona and if they cannot accept me for being me then they are not right for me in the first place. If my having a gun on me makes them fear for their safety then obviously they do not trust I would not hurt them. Without trust you have nothing to build a relationship on. |
