Well anyone around and still awake from all the fireworks here in Scranton. Look me up anytime I spend more time in Scranton (South Side & the U) then anywhere else.

It is far better then a lot of other places to be.

I fit your age bracket spring breeze. I am also new to this forum and very private on the internet so you will probably not hear much of me on here.

I am very busy in real life these days. I dont think it makes me a bad person though just because I am trying to improve myself.

I was wondering something. you said you downloaded it but you did not say anything about which browser you used to download it with as some may be putting it in a downloads folder while others may put it in your documents folder by default.

Either way you made no mention of actually running the installation either which needs to be done.

I would suggest going to the place you downloaded it from and start the download again just to get the name of the program it downloads. Then do a search on your hard drive for that program name to locate it.

After you find it you should run it to install the program. This may or may not require you to reboot your pc.

Hope this helped

I do not think that name brand maters so much really. You need to buy whatever laptop suits your needs the best based on how you will use it.

If it is just for email, surfing the web, word documents and stuff then you might even want to consider getting one of the netbooks (eeePC) as they have some pretty nice ones for like 300 dollars with wifi built in 160GB hard drives and a GB or 2 of ram.

If you are wanting a laptop to play hard core or graphic intensive video games on then you are talking about something like an alienware in which case it may be beyond your budget.

I have a Sony Vaio here and like it a lot but I got my daughter a Toshiba for like 300 dollars and she loves hers. No matter what you get if you load it up with things int he start menu and security programs it like Internet security or cisco clean access on top of your anti virus you will slow down any laptop.

hope this helped but there is not much in a name these days as far as laptops go.

I think it is sad that Sarah Palin has decided to resign. Granted she is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Keep in mind she was able to hold her own through the face off with Joe Biden who had almost 25 years political experience.

Now how many politicians do you know that have had a customized AR-15 dedicated and presented to them. Sarah Palin did. How many politician do you know of that increased your state income tax check by 1000 dollars per year on your return. Sarah Did.

Personally, I do not care what the person looks like. I care about what the person would do for me when in office. I have to say based on Joe Biden's track record I think we got the short end of the stick. Remember Joe Biden was the one that wrote the "assault weapons ban for Clinton". He made sure that assault weapon included most of the long range rifles, several of the common hunting rifles, almost any weapon with a magazine including pistols.

Now we have him and Obama in the white house. It appears Obama has set his staff up with the most anti gun people he can. It is my opinion the reason he won the election was largely due to the fact he is an educated man. I believe his success at the polls was also due to his skin color as well.

I pray our current administration does not permanently negatively effect our nation or world for generations to come. Gun control does not effect crime either way it just takes the ability of the innocent to protect themselves away.

If guns were responsible for killing people then pencils are responsible for spelling errors.

Well first off I would like to point out to some of the more experienced people on here that it may not be a good idea to create all your new paged in XHTML Strict. I say this because of the fact that Microsoft has already stated infatically to the W3C that Internet Explorer will Never Support the mime type of application/xml.

That being said IE will only interpret the page as HTML and never process it as xml.

In response to the oreilly reference question. While I am not sure if they have one sorted out as you asked for I will suggest that anyone interested in a great reference to pick up

Dynamic HTML: The Definitive Reference, Third Edition

That book is incredible I think it belongs on any serious developers shelf personally.

I work for the BOEPC (VZ) and it amazes me how many people disconnect their phone lines, dump the internet connection and snottily tell me "I am changing to Vonage" (or comcast or whoever). DUH! you need an internet connection to have phone service with a VOIP. The other major problem with VOIP phone service is that it basically SUCKS. The quality of the connections is substandard and if you lose power you lose your phone service. Not a problem in the normal course of ones life, but when some sort of disaster happens you are in trouble. cells phones only hold a charge for so long and won't tell EMS where to find you in case of emergency. If you really need to call your relatives to tell them you are ok or need help, a dead cell phone or a down VOIP phone won't help you.

I am not a huge fan of spending half of ones monthly salary on phone service, but if you are careful and ask questions about service, you can get a great deal on unlimited LD with all the trimmings, TV and a dedicated line internet service that's rated #1 in DSL service in the US.

Yes I work for Verizon, but I also believe in their products.

OK, Now let me have it...lol

Well I can tell you that I have had Vonage for about 3 years now. I have received better service and customer support from them then I had ever dreamed of receiving from Verizon or any other company. Yes you do need a high sped internet connection to use it but it is stil far less expensive then VERIZON.

And if you do work for verizon which I have little doubt on you might want to find out how many of their calls are routed over the internet. I would be willing to bet it is close to 50% of their calls or more. I would also like to see verizon come up with a plan that allows unlimited calls to USA, Canada and Europe for under 25 dollars a month like Vonage does.

Another point you did not bring up Vonage is portable you can take your phone adapter with you on trips and connect it to any high sped network to make and receive phone calls you can't do that with verizon. Now that could be a negative as well though as if your traveling with it you should notify the company of where you are in case of emergency so 911 will work properly. Then again most of us have cell phones and if our cell phone was built in the last 5 or so years then it would be required to have a gps built in as part of the E-911 laws in which case it can be tracked to within about 3 feet of where the phone is on the planet.

Another thing you did not mention was the calls verizon calls or used to call local long distance do they still have that or is it either local or long distance these days.

I am sorry if I came off as being mean or anything it was not intended to be that way. I just wanted to be as informative as I could here.

maybe the cops are too busy for that but if anyone on your contact list can see where you are then they also know when your not home or close which could be a bad thing if they were BGs on your contact list that you did not know and trust.

That thing can be set to show everyone where you are as well. It is a major security threat.

Besides cops are not there to protect citizens from crime it is their job to catch the criminals after they commit the crime and bring them to justice.

Well everyone,
I just thought you might like to know what the discussion in class one day last week was. It was about security on the internet. How wireless networks even with WEP or WPA security can be hacked within minutes literally.

Then the professor puts the computer on the overhead and pulls up google latitude. OMG imagine anyone with a cell phone can be tracked on that stuff through the built in GPS feature that is required for E911 compatibility of the cell phone.

Well for the average person you have to opt into it but the Police or government can use it without permission anytime they want I believe.

Think about that a minute. Looking at google earth and seeing where your buddies are at any given moment from your phone or computer.

This kind of stuff makes people want to give up the internet

I guess I qualify as one I currently carry both openly and concealed on a regular basis when not at work.

I have a Kimber Ultra Carry 2 with Crimson Trace laser grip stock .45ACP
I also have a S & W 649 .357 mag snub nose with a 2 1/8" barrel.
I have a Ruger mark 1 .22 LR I use at the range sometimes.
I have a Glock 34 9mm with tritium night sights on it.
I also have a Ruger Vaquero in stainless steel .45 Long Colt

Those are only the ones I keep within 30 feet of my bedroom as I also have several other pistols and long guns stored at another house for now.

HTML and XHTML are only markup languages. That may not mean a whole lot to some of you. Others may have a different understanding of it though. Think of HTML and XHTML as the tools one uses to set up how a page will look. Remember it is not a full fledged programming language and it contains no logic. Also currently the W3C has indicated that you should not be using tables for positioning of things on a page unless it is tabular data as in an actual table.

Most of your positioning and formatting should be done through CSS cascading style sheets. The best references for this subject tend to be those published by Oreilly.

I too an attending college but not for web design. I am going for computer science then software engineering.

The question here earlier about having to click the start button to turn off your computer might have been better answered simply by pointing out that is only the case with some operating systems such as windows. Even then it could be done properly with keyboard shortcuts if you wanted too.

I believe it was originally coded into the windows operating system so people would find it friendly and not obtrusive even though it is how they go to all their programs they have not made shortcuts to each and every time. If a person sees the proper way to shut down and still does it differently after seeing it whos fault is it when their computer HDD crashes or develops bad sectors due to abrupt power surges.

JMHO
