when they wear off or if you take too many...and i was told it's the acetaminophen or ibuprofen they contain that give you the headache

I personally have a problem with medicine that say they will solve headaches, back pain and any pain in your body so if I only take it for my headaches it will surely also affect everything else in my body.
I do not think they have invented a pill that will only treat where you hurt and not the rest of you that the pill says it can treat. |

I asked a question like that of my doctor. I was concerned about getting a headache after taking pain med for a toothache. My doctor took me off of it and told me to mark tha medicine down as being allergic to it.
I did more research on it and found that particular medication was mainly a high dosage of acetaminophen or ibuprofen cant remember now but anyhow the headache was a symptom of overdose. I also had a friend that died a few years ago when she was on pain meds the night she died she was complaining to me of terrible headaches. Her cause of death was overdose. |

I would suggest that you call your doctor and let him know so they can give you a different kind of pain killers. At times some medicines have different effects on different people but pain killers are to help with the pain not create it in a different area. Your tolerance to that certain medicine may not be good. Myself Codeine makes me itch and have the strangest and most vivid dreams too weird therefore the doctor gives me something similar that does not have those effects when it is needed but in fact does do what is intended.

if you over indulge w/anything you will have unexpected side effects
i have been using pain meds regularly for nearly 10 years and yes they can give you head aches not knowing what med you are taking kinda inhibits an accurate answer my suggestion is to stop taking them for 48 hours then go back to taking them at half the prescription yes it will hurt but hey ya gotta do what ya gotta do i hope you are not becoming dependent on them (which doubt if not taking full doses) and maybe the head aches are more related to the pain than the meds and as has been suggested consult you health care professional |

When you are prescribed medications, a sheet comes with them that tells what the meds are used to treat and all of the side effects.
I would suggest that you read the sheet. Or you can look it up online. Another side effect of many pain killers is also constipation. I can be a pain, so I am afraid to take pain killers!!! |

There is a phenomenon known as "rebound" headaches too where after you have taken painkillers (even aspirin or Tylenol) for awhile and then you stop, your body will rebound with headaches due to you stopping the medication. I am sure you can google this and read up on it. Any med can give you a headache if it doesn't agree with your system, but you need to contact your doctor and ask their advice.
