Which one should I upgrade? I have the free edition of both, I also have SpyBot S&D. I want an all in one security suite, but can't decide wether to go with AVG or ZoneAlarm.

Comodo has a combination anti-virus/anti-spyware and firewall package that is supposedly pretty good. Then again, I only use their firewall, so I wouldn't know fer sure, dude.

Have you seen the Kaspersky Internet suite yet? I used to use it and it is by far the most secure I have seen on the commercial market. I no longer use it though as I am a student so the school provides me with security and anti virus free of charge.

Yep, ZoneAlarm has a tendency to throw out a bunch of false positives. AVG has been solid for a long time and has a really solid protection to it.

I was thinking of going with AVG, looks like they're the best choice. Thanks for the feedback.

Personally I can't stand either. I recommend Avast! Home edition. Also free and picks up loads of stuff AVG and Zone don't. Kaspersky isn't bad either but I don't believe they have a free version. If you're looking to get a paid version rather than free I would also recommend Panda.

I suggest Avast and Spybot.... Great protection combo.

Have used them all, prefer Avira over AVG (lately) as AVG has a tendency to slow down the comp.

I have been an AVG Free Version User for about 5 years, and I don't have a bad thing to say about it. I use it in combination with Spybot, and I used to use Ad-Aware Personal SE til they stopped Supporting that older Version. I'm now using the Free Version of Threatfire - which gives "Zero-Day" Protection. I find that since I've been using it... Spybot finds a whole lot less Cooties overall!
I have, However, found that if you get into the "Suites" of things... there are Facets of them that get a bit aggressive... The Firewall settings for instance sometimes really affect Networking - I'm thinking about Both AVG and Norton something or another right now...

I've heard Great things about Kaspersky, Panda, Avast, NOD32 and pretty much anything Trend Micro puts out.

For me - I'm staying away from the "Suites", and sticking with the Free until I have a Reason to change my thinking.

zone alarm phones home regularly, and not to check on updates either, for that server is different that the one it phones home to, moreover, when brought to the attention of za, they denied it rather than explaining what it might be doing,

so avg free if for no other reason - avg works just fine
