teenage girls need to know you can catch herpes and warts even if you use a condom. but i wouldnt go on and on and on, pointing out the bad parts, i would be making them aware that if you use a condom your protecting yourself from hiv, BLAH BLAH. and all the std's. thats what i would focus on.

herpes and warts wont kill you, but hiv does, so we should be concentrating on telling them things they can catch which will take your life, and tell them certain std's cause infertitlity and lots of other things.

my question is, what can we do??

condoms protect against everything apart from herpes and warts.

so what do we do, when you meet someone who has herpes, how can we protect ourself then??

I don't know about you ,but I don't have sex with everyone I meet.

i didnt say that.

what are we meant to do, when your boyfriend tells you, ive got herpes, and using a condom wont work, as its passed on by skin to skin contact??

can you answer that one sick sick sick sick sick

talk to my doctor. There are safer times; there are medications that can be used.

You did say what do you do when you meet someone with herpes. You would presumably already have met your boyfriend. One would think.

even though a condom doesnt stop you from getting herpes or warts, still use them. for some people they may never get it, and others do. the safest you can be is using a condom, theres nothing anyone can do to be 100 percent sure.

didn't you tell someone she was wrong for saying exactly that? You are a piece of work.

Appears that wonderful abtinance trend of programs being offered by this administration is not working well, hmmmmmmmmhuh
nope, sounds more like parents are failing their children to me. It is not the governments role to raise our children

Agree 100 + 10 percent!!!!!

One in four teenage girls in the United States has a sexually-transmitted disease, a study has indicated.

The study, by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), found an even higher prevalence of STDs among black girls.

Researchers analysed data from a nationally representative sample of 838 US girls aged 14 to 19.

A virus that causes cervical cancer - HPV - was the most common, followed by chlamydia, trichomoniasis and herpes.

The CDC says the study is the first in its kind to examine the prevalence of common sexually transmitted diseases among adolescent girls.

It found that nearly half of the African-American girls surveyed had at least one STD, while the rate was 20% among white and Mexican-American teenagers.

Human papillomavirus, or HPV, affected 18% of the girls surveyed, chlamydia 4%, trichomoniasis 2.5%, and herpes simplex virus 2%.

Screening recommended

The CDC's Devin Fenton said it was a serious issue because the diseases could lead to infertility and cervical cancer.

"Screening, vaccination and other prevention strategies for sexually active women are among our highest public health priorities," he said.

The CDC is recommending annual chlamydia screening for all sexually active women under 25, and HPV vaccines for girls aged 11 to 12, followed by booster injections.

John Douglas, the CDC's head of STD prevention, says screenings are underused because teenagers often do not think they are at risk.

Analysts say some doctors are also reluctant to discuss screening with teenage patients because of confidentiality concerns, knowing parents would have to be told of the results.

I copied it for you once, do you need me to do it again? She said "condoms don't protect 100%" You said "you're wrong. Stop trying to be a doctor."

Why do you refuse to admit it? It is there for everyone to read, unless you edited it by now.

if you use protection you dont need to worry about your health. its your body, your health, so the decison is down to you.

That's a foolish statement... condoms don't protect you from HPV, and anyone who receives/gives oral is at risk for catching anything and everything.

Condoms do protect against HPV, if used during oral they are complete in their protection. They have classes to teach how to use them even during oral. I have been to them.

I've been told by doctors and have read in health books that condoms do not protect you 100% from HPV or any other STDs... not sure where you got your info from

your wrong. i used to work in a gu clinic, dont make yourself sound like a g.u.m doctor

You are the one with the failing memory. You were so rude to her and you then went on later to say the same thing that she said. I have never dealt with anyone so obtuse.

she said it wasn't 100%, which you yourself said a few pages later. Only she didn't make fun of you or tell you you were trying to be a doctor.

Are you always right? Never make a mistake, never apologize?

I have never met anyone with such arrogance.

that is because you know I am right and you can't come up with anything better than "quit bugging me".

I will remember what you said to that girl the next time you are in a forum pontificating about how everyone other than you is behaving badly. And I will remind you. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if you did not portray yourself as the epitome of correctness, but I am sorry, you do. So you are going to be held to the same standard you hold others to. You were rude to that girl because you didn't agree with her; then you agreed with her a few pages later and still refuse to admit you were wrong.
