Hey Dragoness, Are you sure they can't recieve benefits from ANY state? Cuz i've heard that there are several states that recently enabled them to draw from social security, and welfare. Im pretty sure that some somalians are drawing on our welfare system here in maine. I think they are also getting free education. These are just some stories i hear people talking about. I would have to look into it for myself. I admit i have done no real research on it... (Maine has a very generous welfare system from what i've heard)

if they have a child born in the united states

it opens the door for benefits for said child

so it is a cach 22 since the child is legal

although became so through an illegal action

bigsmile

I don't doubt that many things are exaggerated... Like i said, to be fair i haven't done any extensive research on this. But i could see it costing us a lot of money just the same...

figured there must be a loophole like that... Makes sense, this is why i was thinking that the child should have at least one parent that is a citizen in order to be considered one at birth.

They do in California, where they've been drawing from public assistance and other services meant for LEGAL residence for the last thirty years now. They're also in our education system, and they're even getting unemployment benefits, which is strange as I thought you had to have a social security number to gain employment and (therefore) collect unemployment.

Of course, if I were to have to draw upon public assistance or unemployment bennies, I'd be gone through with a fine-toothed come and even given the rubber glove part of a physical exam JUST so I can talk to the fella who's doing the processing.

I LOVE being a second-class citizen in my OWN country.

and btw illegal immigration costs us tens, if not hundreds, of billions of dollars on a yearly basis...

The stats on cost floating around on this are incorrect, I pointed it out earlier in this thread. Hatemongerers compiled these stats to perpetrate their racial hatred and got many many people on their bandwagon, not even realizing that they are supporting racists or maybe realizing and not caring I don't know but those stats are not accurate.

Wrong,
The minute they have a child and claim they live under poverty
levels, the citizens pick up the bill for jailing them, schooling their children, and provideing welfare (including medicare(medicaid) to the whole household!

There are some good, and to me it really isnt about race. Its about, too damn many and the loss of good paying jobs to cheap labor!

Considering that the rules I followed when doing the eligibility for the programs were federal laws, I doubt seriously that states are giving them benefits, at least they are not doing it from the federal pool of monies set for those programs, I know that for sure.

Each state can opt to add monies to these pools, but that would be an individual state process. I know Colorado puts monies in with the federal monies but none and I mean none of it went to illegals at any level.

Foodstamps is all federal there is no monies coming from states into that program and they are very very strict for illegals and immigrants coming in. Only refugees can get foodstamps, those immigrants that we take in from other countries to protect from their own country can get foodstamps the first year they are here and it only lasts a short time and then they have to wait five years to get benefits just like the other legal immigrants have to.

Not true either. If a family applies for assistance for the US citizen child and they are determined eligible, the child is the only one that can have any type of assistance and it is very little for the child.

n hosting America's largest population of illegal immigrants, California bears a huge cost to provide basic human services for this fast growing, low-income segment of its population. A new study from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) examines the costs of education, health care and incarceration of illegal aliens, and concludes that the costs to Californians is $10.5 billion per year.

I already told ya'll this before but I will repeat it. Our uninformed citizens here in this state thought that illegals were getting benefits from all the FALSE propaganda out there and they screamed and kicked until the legislature here passed duplicate laws that were already on the books so the people would shut up. Last year the news reported no change in the welfare rolls since the "new legislation". I laughed my ass off at the stupidity of the people here and notified the news station of the ignorancy of which they were part of.

We have never given illegals anything here, EVER, so our legislature spent all of our tax dollars here to duplicate laws for the satisfaction of ignorant citizens. Wasted my tax dollars doing it toonoway

I cannot discount California's costs, they are housing the majority of illegals. So I will not argue those and they are not talking here of welfare and foodstamps and such so I cannot discount this. If they are not doing what others do and count the whole counties cost and make it into an illegal figure then that may be true.

I have a letter here from Heath Schuler that says the State of NC spent 997 million on welfare and services to illegal immigrants. Last year alone!
That's like 3 mill shy of 1 billion!!
