I fail to see how this one incident will lead to the downfall of the Democratic party.

If you use that reasoning, the things President Bush and Vice President Cheney have done should not only have led to the death of the Republican party, but nailed the coffin lid shut for good.

The Democrats have no particular corner on scandal.

The Republicans have had their share, too, with Larry Craig, Mark Foley, etc...

You can focus on the party the offender belongs to, or focus on
hypocrisy and corruption in general, regardless of party affiliation, which continues to be a big problem
for some politicians.

I choose to focus on the latter.

More professional ethics education might be needed in the institutions of higher learning where these politicians graduate.

If selling is legal and having sex is legal why isn't selling sex legal? Damn...there are millions of things you can do to a person that are considerably worse than giving them an orgasm. The military gives you medals for dropping napalm on people. Giving another person an orgasm should hardly be an arrestable offense.

I do not believe this "incident will lead to the downfall of the Democratic Party," but it is a big deal since it involves money laundering. The guy used taxpayer funds to pay for the prostitute and tried to hide it through various channels, which is called money laundering. That is the big crime, according to the legal experts on TV. Additionally, this guy knows he is in trouble, which is why he hasn't resigned. He will use his resignation as a bargaining chip to get a lesser/lighter sentence since the experts say he cannot avoid jail time.

i can tell ya one thing, he won't get justice. he won't have to pay back all the money. he won't get shunned and virtually stoned by everyone.

Lily ..... Once again, it is not "sheer propoganda" to use Hilliary's name in relation to Spitzer. She aligned herself with him politically and also made out that he was a personal friend since, at the time, he was the powerful governor of New York. Of course, now that he is on his way out, Hillary has disengaged herself from him. As one poster stated, Hillary has removed all mention of him from her website.
