Religion and politics are inseparable. Politics is defined by the clash of different interests, and interests stem from the individual's belief system, not the least of which, is heavily impacted either consciously or subconsciously by religion.
However, I do believe in tolerance. Just because I may be a Christian representing Christians, Jews and Muslims all at the same time, does not mean I have to be any less Christian in my post as a public official. |

Never have been, never will be.
A person who has strong religious beliefs, and the morals instilled in them through their faith will always have a role in the decision they make. The only aspect of 'separation of church and state' intended by the Founding Father's was that no aspect of organized religion, the church, should have influence in government. The government should never favor a state church and force its will on the people. That's the extent of separation of church and state. Religion, and it's influence, will always have an impact on the people who hold it sacred and influential on their moral standings, and the decisions they make in leadership. |

no Sailor's got it right... our Constitution calls for NO Official "state" Religion.....period. Thank God!!! All one must do is look around the world to countries with gov's based on Religion to see the damage and evil that religion in politics does. Religion is good for ones soul whatever it is, but placing power in the hands of religious leaders is what produces fanatics. |

I know I will continue to fight to keep it out of my government for the good of all. Sometimes religious know not what they do. We would be like the middle east if religion gained any more power in the government and I will not live like that.
