I phoned my son afternoon and didn't even bring the subject up but he thinks it is strange, too to see my daughter in a heterosexual relationship. He thinks they are happy. I called my daughter up and she seems to be faring well. |

It is going well, Sharon. Both my son and daughter are doing well enough that their phones are still working. My son misses his sister living with him because she was a good aunt to my grand daughter. Since his divorce he is taking care of my grand daughter by himself. On the last visit my grand daughter and me had a good time. My ex mother-in-law is working his tail off with odd jobs. I am happy for my son and daughter because we can keep in touch. My grand daughter was telling me about Friendship, inc. which a place that helps the mentally challenged to live on their own. She told me she was offered a position with them but didn't want to live apart from her boyfriend. I have contacted them and hoping to get word back from them because right now the job would be idea for me since I still live alone. Where she lives Friendship, inc. has a position open where one can live on the site, Have their food and draw a paycheck.

I ended up quitting my job working with the mentally retarded. It just tore my heart apart too much, plus with my depression, it was not a good position for me. I've seen your posts in the depression thread, so I know u understand what it's like. I am usually a caregiver, but now I need to care for me. |

I think so, too, Sharon. When I worked with the mentally challenged at Saint Elizabeth Anne Seton house in Wichita I loved the job in 1983. It was a nice change from working as a social worker for inmates coming out of prison and trying to get them jobs. I had just changed from working as a resident assistant at Hope House a couple of houses down for alcoholics and addicts. It took me a little while to become a house parent for the mentally challenged but I got the hang of it. I am thinking that geriatrics would nice to get out of but I would still like to stay in the caring profession. |

That word "lesbian" sounds like a disease. And straight men know they're sure that they're the cure. ~Denise McCanles
The radical right is so homophobic that they're blaming global warming on the AIDS quilt. ~Dennis Miller because Jesse Helms and Newt Gingrich were shaking hands congratulating themselves on the introduction of an antigay bill in Congress. If it passes, they won't be able to shake hands, because it will then be illegal for a pr!ck to touch an a$$hole. ~Judy Carter My lesbianism is an act of Christian charity. All those women out there praying for a man, and I'm giving them my share. ~Rita Mae Brown You could move. ~Abigail Van Buren, "Dear Abby," in response to a reader who complained that a gay couple was moving in across the street and wanted to know what he could do to improve the quality of the neighborhood I get sick of listening to straight people complain about, "Well, hey, we don't have a heterosexual-pride day, why do you need a gay-pride day?" I remember when I was a kid I'd always ask my mom: "Why don't we have a Kid's Day? We have a Mother's Day and a Father's Day, but why don't we have a Kid's Day?" My mom would always say, "Every day is Kid's Day." To all those heterosexuals that ***** about gay pride, I say the same thing: Every day is heterosexual-pride day! Can't you people enjoy your banquet and not piss on those of us enjoying our crumbs over here in the corner? ~Rob Nash |
