"The Massachusetts court decision to allow gay marriages this week may prove to be a divisive issue in the upcoming presidential election. President Bush is likely torn because he has to protect what he sees as a sacred institution and yet he knows gay marriage would boost the economy because you know those gay guys would go all out. We're talking about designer wedding cakes, $20,000 sleeveless tuxedos, giant naked man ice sculptures that pee mojitos. They'd hire Pattie La Belle as the band, give out African parrots as party favors. It'd be ridiculous. Remember, whatever your political beliefs, a vote to allow gay marriage is a vote for a fabulous economy."

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that "marriage is the God-ordained covenantal union of one man and one woman;" in fact, it says explicitly to the contrary! The Biblical view of marriage is not monogamous: it is not necessarily based on love, nor on any amount of mutuality.

God's dream is that you and I and all of us will realize that we are family, that we are made for togetherness, for goodness, and for compassion. In God's family, there are no outsiders, no enemies. Black and white, rich and poor, gay and straight, Jew and Arab, Muslim and Christian, Hindu and Buddhist, Hutu and Tutsi, Pakistani and Indian - all belong. When we start to live as brothers and sisters and to recognize our interdependence, we become fully human.
~ Bishop Desmond Tutu |

Openly gay Showtime president Robert Greenblatt says that L Word creator Ilene Chaiken is working on a spinoff to the series, which will air its sixth and final season in early 2009. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will involve one L Word character—but they won't say which—and would continue an open-ended storyline that will be left dangling when L Word wraps up its run. (The story will also be continued online, presumably at OurChart.com.)
No doubt speculation will run rampant as to which will be the character who gets to live on in her very own Joey. Will it be sexpot Shane (above)? Kooky Alice? Uptight Bette? Diva Jenny? http://www.mrsardonic.com/ (personally I hope it's Alice. I love her sense of humor.) |

Long Time No See! Been busy in the working world. Too bad Unemployment can't last forever.
[Clip of Bush: "America is a free society, which limits the role of government in the lives of our citizens. In this country, people are free to choose how they live their lives."] Jon Stewart: "And that's why I want to ban gay people from getting married." ![]() ![]() The following info was taken from http://www.queerty.com/ "I don't feel like I need to share my personal life, and I don't care if people think I'm gay or not. Assume whatever you want. You do it anyway." - Total lesbian entertainer Queen Latifah on persistent gay rumors. "Finally, I will say that, also representative of most every other gay man and woman in the world, that I am not defined by my sexuality. No more so than each of you are defined by your sexual orientation." - Homosexual entertainer Clay Aiken setting the record straight in a long-winded blog post. [MG] "Three former chief justices of the Arkansas Supreme Court say they're opposing a ballot measure aimed at banning gay and lesbian couples from becoming adoptive or foster parents. Former Chief Justices W.H. 'Dub' Arnold, Jack Holt Jr. and Bradley D. Jesson were among 13 retired judges who issued a statement Monday opposing a proposed initiated act that would ban unmarried couples from adopting children or becoming foster parents. The judges said the proposal would limit their ability to choose the best home environment for children and said that child placement should be decided on a case-by-case basis." At a rally on Saturday in California, Sarah Palin offered up a rather jarring argument for supporting the Republican ticket. "There's a place in Hell reserved for women who don't support other women," the Alaska Governor said, claiming she was quoting former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. The statement came after Palin had recounted [an experience at Starbucks] on Saturday: "I'm reading on my Starbucks mocha cup, okay? The quote of the day… It was Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State [crowd boos] and UN ambassador. … Now she said it, I didn't. She said, 'There's a place in Hell reserved for women who don't support other women.'" Ms Albright's quote is actually, "There's a special place in Hell reserved for women who don't help other women," which is completely different than what Palin said ![]() |

http://www.hrc.org HRC PAC releases video in response to Gov. Palin’s comments about homosexuality Video now on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfL2l1dk8nA 10/1/2008 WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign PAC, the political action committee of the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, released an online video today in response to the comments by Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin that she believes homosexuality is a choice. Palin recently told CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric that she believes homosexuality is a “choice.” The video released by HRC PAC is narrated by Michael Cole, senior manager of HRC’s media center, who flew to Alaska with a video production crew to talk with Wasilla’s LGBT community. “Sarah Palin used the oldest trick in the book, citing her gay friend as a show of support for our community, ” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “I wonder how her friend feels about Palin being against hate crimes legislation, relationship recognition for same-sex couples, or Palin’s belief that her sexuality is a choice.” BLOGGER NOTE: The video can also be linked up on www.HRCBackStory.org. The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against GLBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all. |
