requiring government ID cards is redundant and just keeps legal citizens from voting.
Thus making it more convenient for illegal immigrants to vote. Only in America. Verifying identification and citizenship is necessary for voting in elections. No chance illegal immigrants can register to vote in California. Without their birth records in the databases, they instantly get flagged as ineligible. While they could go to polling stations and cast provisional ballots, those ballots wouldn't pass validation or get counted, and casting those votes is a crime, so they'd be putting themselves at further legal risk for a statistically insignificant vote. Not only in America. I'm sure other countries have similarly advanced computer networks, like in Germany and Japan. The argument that having a government issued ID is racist and it disfranchised minorities at the pollings booth begs the question why are they millions of persons without an ID that the only way to rectify that issue is mail-in-ballots? |

Mail-in voting isn't an answer to the cost and trouble of obtaining certain government-issued identification. Mail-in voting is just a better alternative to waiting in line to vote. In some places in the US, people have to wait hours in line to vote, because voting machines and poling places are poorly distributed. Voter ID laws are just stupid all on their own. The government doesn't need to see our ID card. They know who we are from the place we live, the bills we pay and the people we know. Those laws are just a way to disenfranchise voters who certain politicians don't like. Republicans do better in elections where fewer voters vote. |

Another reason why USA want to add Canada ... we have vote counting machines that count really super fast . in this last provincial election within 15 minutes of the polls closing, we already had the results ... now that's fast and Yoda efficient !!!! Okay okay we do have less in the way of population... just saying !!!!!

Voter I’d laws are necessary because of the rampant I’d theft that has invaded our most basic aspects of life. There is no valid excuse to not have some type of I’d. It doesn’t slow anyone down from buy liquor or beer. It’s just a democrat talking point to help them cheat for their representatives.. mail in voting is another democrat ploy for cheating and being the lazy bums most of them are. We should go back to standing in line to vote w/ exemptions for the elderly or handicapped. It’s called your patriotic duty.

I never said having government ID is racist. Requiring particular government ID just to vote is disenfranchising voters because those ID cards aren't free to the public. They cost money just to apply, and require specific documentation that may not be available, and cost more money to produce. It looks like you've never had to request a certified copy of your birth certificate. Also, government offices where those IDs are issued are often under-staffed and crowded, and going to get that card can take all day or several days. If you're working a full-time job, it may not be practical to take one or more days off just to put that together. All for your statistically insignificant vote. |

Sounds like typical liberal excuse to avoid being accountable for yourself and dependent on others to get you through life.. sit on your fat *** and get free stuff delivered to your doorstep is no way to go thru life. Some states let you use a electric bill as a form of identification. Don’t minorities have electric bills. The arguement that minorities shouldn’t have to do like every other citizen has to do is mind numingly stupid…. |

Most of the "red" states require photo ID to vote. ballotpedia.org/Voter_identification_laws_by_state I wouldn't mind states requiring photo ID if it wasn't such a hassle to get. But states don't give them freely, and the SCOTUS has ruled that poll taxes are unconstitutional. Requiring a paid ID is a form of poll tax. States should just make it easier to get official identification. Short of that, they could start using biometrics, where voters could identify by a fingerprint or iris scan. Of course, that'd freak out the privacy activists. |

See. that wasn't so hard to answer but we still need to know why do Democrats believe having a government ID is racist at the polling booths. Ones vote is insignificant? My, my, my. I take it you don't vote then? |

Ones vote is insignificant? My, my, my. I take it you don't vote then? I vote every election. We've got mail-in voting in California, so it's super easy. But yeah, my vote is just one of 22 million in the state, and elections are rarely close, here. Maybe you can find a link to whatever made you think Democrats say government ID is racist. |

Off topic: You posted this during Trumps address to Congress. You didn't watch it?
I watched a little bit, but during the few minutes I did, he was just lying a bunch, and whining about Democrats, and repeating stuff he's been saying for weeks. Maybe the speech got better, later on, but I didn't stick around for it. |

Any decent democrat should have been embarrassed by how their side of the room acted. I’m so proud of Mike Johnson for taking charge and throwing Rep. Green out of the chamber for his rudeness. |
