While it lasts, there's really no difference. It's when things do NOT last that not being married makes things much easier and often cheaper.

I think the answer will be different for everyone. For example, none of my 3 daughters want to get married (or have kids), and I think thatโs fine. For me the difference would be more symbolic. I would feel a sense of emotional security from someone making a huge commitment like that (assuming my partner takes marriage as seriously as I would).

Whichever way you choose to live together, make sure you have a prenup or similar agreement, better safe than sorry. |

To your point: That's why living together in a serious relationship makes the most sense for most men. Having/wanting children, however, changes the stakes a bit for sure. |
