Well I suffer quite a bit with depression, Have meds for it but I have found if I can just sit down and do a little karaoke singing, I can pretty much get back to a normal me. Cat videos help me too. Laughing seems to fix a lot.

A balanced diet to start with.
Guava, chocolate, carbohydrates.
A shroom a day; hobbies and interests.
Notice and remember when things go well, not when things went bad.
Break your routines and try something different.

Taking vitamin D supplement if you don’t already, and getting outside in the sun.

Take my antidepressant meds, smoke my smoke, a lot of music (retired after 30 years in the business) and spend as much time as I can with my daughter.
Don't drink, have quite a bit of sex, play my guitars and have as many laughs as I can. smokin

Meditation, music, being around animals, and just being outside helps me. Even just doing a simple oil change to my mustang helps keep my mind out of the shadows of depression.

Meditation worked for me. I use Bob Baker's guided meditation on youtube, it was only 10 minutes but helps a lot.
I agree with staying away from tv, bad news and drama. I listen to my fav music, watching comedy movie. I spend my time on pinterest and youtube looking for new inspiration (home decoration, craft tutorial, recipe, etc), do things that make you happy.
Chamomile tea also helps me to sleep better and feel more relaxs.

I thought she said Bob BARKER's guided meditation! lololol

I kept imagining the yodeling mountain climber in the background and Barker's voice saying some hippy stuff!

I really don't get depressed because my mind thinks of funny stuff all the time.

Anyway -if you are not in danger of homelessness, etc. -think of it as a staycation -but stay somewhat busy -learn things -exercise, etc.
Exercise releases endorphins which make you feel better and have a positive outlook without having a particular reason.

If you are facing homelessness or some other calamity, accept it and start seeing the other side -look for ways to get through it and make sure it does not happen again. Also research what resources are available -and you might as well make a gofundme account. Don't think of it as a handout, think of it as a life scholarship. People should help each other -and many are happy to do so.

Also.... I found some excellent food-based mutlivitamins on Amazon....

https://www.amazon.com/Brieofood-Multivitamin-Tablets-Vegetable-probiotics/dp/B010GL5L0G

...only 20 bucks for a 6 month supply!

If I did not discover these when I was a full time caregiver I would have never made it through -they made an extremely noticeable positive difference.

Good way to get what you need if you have to go cheap on food right now.

and..... they support a healthy immune system!!!!!

Depression is a monster you feed.
Stop feeding it and it won't hang out at your door.
Ya gotta switch gears to a positive outlook.
Start recognizing and reminding yourself "That's a good thing!"
Pretty soon yer surrounded with good things.
