Topic: questions that believers are afraid to answer | |

I say read my series on creation Vs. evolution......pretty much answers it all. And where can we enjoy (literally) those (I am sure) pearls of wisdom? |

spgr, look back through the pages in the religious forum, you'll find it.
Walker, the problem is with the leaders of the church and what they wanted as well as those in political power combining. Also, the way the Bible is written. Have you not noticed for every verse you can find to justify a belief, a verse to justify the opposite belief can also be found. |

Proverbs 26:4~5: "Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes." "If we are to understand how to answer the fool, if we are to be able to demonstrate that God has made the pseudo-wisdom of the world foolish, then we must first study the biblical conception of the fool and his foolishness. In scriptural perspective the fool is not basically a shallow-minded or illiterate ignoramus; he can be quite educated and sophisticated in social reckoning. However, he is a fool because he has forsaken the source of true wisdom in God in order to rely on his own (allegedly), self-sufficient, intellectual powers. He is unteachable (Prov. 10:8) and despises instruction (Prov. 15:5); whereas the wise man heeds council given to him, 'The way of a fool is right in his own eyes' (Prov. 12:15). The fool has utter self-confidence and imagines himself to be intellectually autonomous. 'He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool' (Prov. 28:26). A fool cannot think of himself as mistaken (Prov. 17:10). He judges matters according to his own pre-established standards of truth and right, and thus his own thoughts always turn out in the long run to be correct. The fool is sure that he can rely on his own rational authority and intellectual scrutiny. 'The fool beareth himself insolently and is confident' (Prov. 14:16), and therefore he utters his own mind (Prov. 29:11). In actuality, this autonomous man [. . .and woman especially in this thread and ones like it] is dull, stubborn, boorish, obstinate and stupid. He professes himself to be wise, but from the opening of his mouth it is clear that he is (in the biblical sense) 'a fool' - his only wisdom would consist in keeping silent (Prov. 17:28). 'The heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness' (Prov. 12:23), and the fool flaunts his folly (Prov. 13:16). He eats up folly unreflectingly (Prov. 15:14), pours it out (Prov. 15:2), and returns to it like a dog to his vomit (Prov. 26:11). He is so in love with his folly and so dedicated to its preservation that 'It is better for a man to meet a bear robbed of her whelps, than a fool is his folly' (Prov. 17:12). The fool does not want to find the truth; he only wants to be self-justified in his own imaginations. While he may feign objectivity, 'A fool hath no delight in understanding, but only that his heart may reveal itself' (Prov. 18:2). He is committed to his own presuppositions and wishes to guard his autonomy. Thus he will not depart from evil (Prov. 13:19), and thus all his knowledgeable talk reveals nothing but perverse and lying lips (Prov. 10:18; 19:1). He may talk proudly, but "A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are a snare of his soul' (Prov. 18:7). He shall not endure the judgment of God (Ps. 5:5)." god was not created. he just IS. we as human's cannot wrap our minds around something like that. i feel if a god exists, which i believe he does, he could easily create us without that understanding. that is why we are us, and god is god. i dont think that's a cop-out. i feel its a perfectly logical way of looking at it. IF god exists, he created the rules. the universe, heaven, earth, etc, is way too huge for our tiny humans minds to ever grasp and we werent meant to. it is a cop-out CraniumDesigns because mostly what you talk about is what your tiny human mind can't comprehend ..you can only speak for yourself in this case because there simply may be others that can comprehend ..to believe this about yourself is exactly what religion relies upon ..low self esteem to not question beyond the belief ...you said that God was not created and that he just is ...how would you know that unless you existed before God |

yes, I am. With the intent to show that every religion has used to impose their beliefs to others. for instance christianity with the inquisition, but that does not mean that every religion is bad. as I said before the ones who do that are a few in fact it shows how every religion is bad, the inquisition and terrorist attacks were and are considered as acts of faith ..anything and any horror can be justify by those in the belief by simply uttering the word faith ..torture and murder was an acceptable form of punishment for those that questioned the belief or not of the same belief until government interaction .. as long as people have faith they will be willing to kill and die in the name of..... |

We all existed with GOD before satans downfall and the creation of flesh man, when GOD said "Let us create man in our own image" who do you think "us" were? the "us" were those that wrote the bible perhaps |

how can you possibly reference the bible as proof? it's a book. mother goose books do not provide proof of the tales inside. what is being asked for is real life proof, something that has yet to be provided.
a book that says "believe in me or you're an idiot" is no proof |

It says in the Bible that God is The beginning and The end...

It says in the Bible that God is The beginning and The end... That's going to be a big disappointment for those who were led to beleive that God is eternal. |

this thread is about questions that the religious will just close their minds to and refuse to answer or just afraid to answer because it will question their suppose faith or question that they just can't answer rationally ..here's the first one according to believers logic, God had to have created the universe because the universe couldn't have popped out of nothingness and create itself .....so therefore do the same logic apply to the creator if the answer is no then could you explain why with a rational explanation Maybe you need a score keeper. "this thread is about questions" - After 550 posts and over 3600 views, we're still on the same question. *You lose 1 point. They gain 1 point. "that the religious will just close their minds to and refuse to answer or just afraid to answer" - After 550 posts and over 3600 views, the religious haven't closed their minds, refused to answer, or were afraid. *3 total points possible for this one. You lose all 3. They gain all 3. "because it will question their suppose faith or question that they just can't answer rationally" - It doesn't appear that they are questioning their own faith or not answering rationally according to their faith. You're questioning these things, that doesn't count. *2 total points possible for this one. You lose both. They gain both. If I did the math right, looks like the score is: You-0 They-6 You're behind by 6. Logic would indicate that you might be able to gain one point, but here's a hint, you gotta ask another question! However, you need to realize too, that you're only gonna be good for one point out of six at the end of the game. Cheers, and the best of luck to both teams!! |

if you did your math right, the religious side would be in the hole. words in a book with very little actual factual backing don't proove anything.
if you think about it, of course the book is going to tell you to believe. what purpose does it serve other than that? the bible is not a reputable source for this arguement, i could ask a 5 year old and get a more accurate representation of truth |

It says in the Bible that God is The beginning and The end... to make that claim that would mean someone had to be there in the beginning before God even existed ...this makes your answer irrational |

Maybe you need a score keeper. "this thread is about questions" - After 550 posts and over 3600 views, we're still on the same question. the original question doesn't ask or need you to be a score keeper the original question ask that you answer the original question with a rational explanation if the answer to the original qustion is "no" |

While science and biblical words are in fact together in truth. Now...science is not perfect, nor is it always factual. This world as described in the bible and also known to us by science has to have been an intelligent design. Nowhere can perfection be found other than here on this earth. Think about it; the placement of the stars, the moon, the exact spacing from other planets to let the earth flourish, and human and animal life to exist. The perfect combination of gases to enable us to have oxygen and nourishment for the plant life to live. The perfect combination of minerals and nutrients for the earth to feed all the life in holds. The perfect temperatures of the Oceans to give back life as it does. The perfect temperatures to hold and keep life. No other planet does this? Is this really supposed to have just been chance all at once? Kat |
