To each their own.

geezer i have nothing against friends of either sex.
however i have always taken the friend zone as the the emotional flipside to friends with benefits. both give only one side of well rounded full blown relationship(not friendship) and i honestly feel the friend zone is the more demeaning of the two. so do i fear it? no
do i want to spend time there? no

A good thing for short time may be. But horrer when you think of being in relationship with someone else

I think this largely depends upon the person using the term.

It's like that phrase "its just who I am"

if the person believes people and relationships are stagnate boxes that dont grow or evolve or change, that 'friend' zone may be a box they are putting you in for good.

if a person believes, as I do, that people and relationships constantly change and evolve, grow or regress, that 'friend' label is only a statement of where we are, and not a definition of where we might end up.

Thank you!

Finally, someone who gets it.

My experience with being "friend zoned" is the former, not the latter. Meaning, the woman doesn't make any attempt to get to know me better. She calls me a friend, but really just remains more of an acquaintance.

On the flip side, maybe she might claim that I'm not making any attempt to get to know her better. But at that point, I've already approached and made efforts to know her. It just hasn't been reciprocated well. So I'm being sent a signal that she's not really interested in going any further, even as friends.

If she had the latter view, a person might think she would actually make a reciprocal effort to know me. That would be a positive signal, even if only as friends.

This where all the confusion seems to stem from. Not all women define "friend zone" the same way. It's not necessarily how the man views it. It's how the woman herself defines it.

I'm only here to chat, write, comment or the likes.
I'm on very rarely, so that says everything.
I have no interest in finding a partner, as I've been there far to many time in my life.
And I've figured out the usual outcome of it...:) So why bother..:)
Most people today are not together to long in the first place.
So... Better be "friends," if that's even possible.
I expect nothing from this site as to finding anything.
Never did, never will.

Why do I pay to be here then?
I often ask that answer myself..LOL.

I think the friend zone is a confused type of zone where one person does not know what he/she really wants. Females mostly

Yup, I threw that idea into the discussion several posts ago. Unfortunately, the discussion went in another direction entirely. I was hoping maybe a few women would share their thoughts/experiences regarding that. But no luck.

Absolutely not afraid of the friend zone. Reason; I just laugh and move on to the next. Never found a woman that I really wanted to date that I could not date. Put them in the friend zone after. Most still friends with me.
