In my hometown they have a coffee lounge where they sponsor poetry readings, guest speakers and local bands.

Fresh Grounds

How common are those types of venues?
How many of you would consider going to one of those alone?
Sadly, I am not aware of anything like that around me...

Not at all common on the Island, or any off the other smaller towns I've been to. It's a great idea and I would totally go there by myself.

Yeah, it's too bad they don't have that around you Tom.
Have you looked into creating a movie night or maybe even something like the coffee lounge thing?

Y'know if I had startup capitol I could seriously franchise something like that. Plus, I would prevent sites in large cities, bringing traffic to the small towns. My hometown is a small out of the way town. I thought it was a brilliant business idea.

In my small town here on the coast there are no small venue places that are not country, rock or rap bars. Not my thing, really.
At my age and condition, I'm a lot more laid back.
Being so close to NOLA, I can't for the life of me understand why this place isn't populated by blues lounges?

Tom, would anyone be open to a blue's night if you requested one at a local joint?

The venues are pretty packed (tourist beach) and the ones that are not are not really worth going to (hole-in-the-wall) plus, I don't frequent any place that could sponsor such a night.

I did go to a new bar that opened recently on New Years.
I talked with the owner about getting a sound system, even offered to hook my laptop up to her TV and run some of my wide range of music as a playlist.
Not only was I turned down flat I was basically told it was her bar and no man is going to tell her how to run her bar...I never went back.

I have asked at a few places if the want some free mp3s but nobody wants.
Oh well...

That was rude of her.

I hope you find something to do. I'm going out to get some dinner. If you're still here later, maybe we could create a new game in the game thread. Have a good night if I don't see you later Tom flowerforyou drinker

In St Louis (and probably NOLA) there are Blues Lounges

I would consider going there but again, nothing close like that.
Plus, I would want a date to accompany me, not something I would do alone?

That's kind of the idea of what I do when I go out, on my own. Difference is that people aren't seated as it is a pub. There's a dance floor in front of the stage where most people are standing, some dancing a bit, as they watch the band and chat. That's where I'm usually standing/dancing too. Right in front of stage, I want the VIP spot, lol.

Well, you would just love Beale Street in Memphis, TN.

Then there is BB's Jazz, Blues and Soups in St Louis

Been to both, both were fantastic!

In NOLA, there is The House of Blues where I wouldn't mind going IF I Had A Date.

Sounds wonderful. I almost got coconut shrimp, but opted to cook at home, mushroom swiss burger and sweet potato fries.

And it's a toss up between brownies ala mode, and the fudge covered cookies I got from the fudge store. Might finish up the brownies I baked first.

Movies sound good, it's too cold to go back out.

Enjoy your evening Tom happy drinker

Well, Its come around on the guitar again....

Any suggestions?

Intellectual is increasing
Physical and Emotional are declining
Spiritual and Awareness are declining
Intuition is maxed out
Aesthetic is bottomed out.

So, activities where I can be intellectually challenged intuitively but with little physical challenges hidden by anonymity.

I guess I should attend a science lecture and sit quietly in the back of the room and watch the people to see who might be willing to interact with me after the lecture.

But there is hope.
Less than 20 miles from me is NASA's Infinity Science Center.

Does the bowling alley have a club you could join? You could try some volunteering? Maybe a local reading group or debate club....

Does the bowling alley have a club you could join? You could try some volunteering? Maybe a local reading group or debate club....

Y'know, I did consider volunteering but my health prevents me from being able to plan ahead much.
When I say I'm gunna be there, people depend on me keeping my word.
My unpredictable schedule prevents me from being sure I can keep my word, I won't do that to people, I know how it feels.

This is a major reason why I am alone now.
I have a personality fixation on keeping my word.

for interaction tom, if you are up to bowling all leagues always need spares for absent team members so you could skip out on it if you didn't feel up to it. and plenty of daytime as well as night leagues

Ed Sheeran says so.

Sit here and drink my beer..

Would rather be drinking it on the water, but it'd still just be me and Tbone...

But I wouldn't care to much about it then.

Yeah, I know I could find someone at a bar.
Been there/Done that
Problem is, in 56 years I have not found what I am looking for in a bar.
Kinda wanting to figure out where that one special woman is and go there.
Seems like a simple problem but it isn't.

I don't have a solution, I'm merely asking for suggestions.
The ultimate would be someone I am introduced to by someone I trust.

I'm really easy to get along with, making friends has never been a problem.
The problem is others being actual friends.
I NEVER get back the friendship I give.

I'm sitting here drinking a beer too
drinks
Listening to music that I like, as loud as I like.
I'm comfortable and content.

I just think it would be better doing it with a special woman. One that finds contentment in the same things I do.

I no longer fit into today's society.
