Topic: can you describe God without sounding delusional

OK, bad choice of words on my part then. How about "I know that God exists". That better for you?? Can you understand that now?

and do you understand that when you claim that you "know" something that you should provide sufficient proof to prove it as fact... simply because you may be deluded ..er.. maybe you should stick with you "believe" in God existence and not "know" that God exist

The entity that communicates in secret places can be trusted.
Truth is inncorruptible.

trust doesn't exist pass one's mind ..just because you trust some enity doesn't mean that enity is trustworthy

truth is constant and undisputable ..the existence of God is not undisputable

There's your first hint of contradiction.

Harmony is not present.

Therefore, your statement cannot defend itself.

the pursuit of truth cannot disallow that God is.

How does the consciousness of a liver cell within you ... explain the consciousness of a brain cell within you ...

That liver cell lives among other liver cells ... they like to keep to their own kind ... it is what it knows ...

How then does the liver cell make sense of a world outside the liver? Or even contemplate that there is a bigger purpose for it?

And does it really matter?

flowerforyou

LOL, well I am sure it matters to your liver! bigsmile laugh

Are you sure that the liver cell is even aware that it lives within a small piece of the whole?

Funches -- I see a semantics aspect to this whole question. If we start from the premise that there IS, in fact, a delusion, then it stands to reason that there must necessarily be a delusional aspect involved.

Whether or not "certain parties" recognize or acknowledge the status of the delusion as delusional, is entirely separate and irrelevant to the issue of its being a delusion. Your cat is most likely not a large green sofa, whether or not you believe it is....

well if only everyone's delusions can be their own business ..may cut down on those pesty holy wars

I think this sums it all up.

Many people have no need to prove their beliefs to others. drinker

I think the only people who need to prove the existence of God are the ones who are trying to sell their version of God to others.

It’s a pretty simple situation in that case. If you have something to sell me you better damn well be able to produce it. devil

Otherwise, keep it to yourself as a personal belief.

I’m sure this thread is aimed toward evangelists and religious fundamentalists who are always being pushy and obnoxious about their pictures of God like as if they have their on 1-800 line connected right to the source. Those kinds of people genuinely are delusional sickos as far as I’m concerned.

I don’t believe in the biblical God.

To me god is this universe and everything in it. If you ask me to describe god that would be my answer.

If you don’t like that answer, or you feel that it’s insufficient, too bad.

What do I look like? The Satisfier of all Needs? laugh

I have no need to prove anything to anyone.

If you want to believe that Paris Hilton is God more power to you. I really don’t care. flowerforyou

Not at all off topic....it just takes a wider view....expand the view, and you will see the relevance.

the question is to describe God without sounding delusion ..the question is not about proving or disproving his existence but as you notice everyone is trying to prove his existence instead of answering the question

Was not off topic actually ... merely a contemplation of the topic...

If I imagine the all of creation to be my body for example ... are the individual parts aware of each other ... and can they adequately explain one another ...

I do not believe in a biblical version of God ... more a creative source from which all things flow ... a consciousness if you will ...

Can a single cell within me be conscious of the all of me ... and can the consciousness of me truly be conscious of the all that was, is and will be of EVERYTHING...?

I know when I pray O father Zeus and sacrifice my white goat at the alter. The peace that sweeps over me and the way fate makes my pockets full with money. No fake God could do that!!! That is proof that no one can touch.
