my personal business and emotional connection were completely severed LONG before we had papers in hand. we stayed together for four extra years and then separated for two...for my step-daughter. had it just been me and our kids, i would have left much sooner.

each relationship is different, as is the reasons for ending it.

i agree that a person should be emotionally available and healed before looking for a mate, as it's not fair to the potential partner if 100% can't be given.
