Topic: What Do You Want to Work On | |

Perhaps I rehash a thread that has already been done?
Maybe my tone at times seems arrogant...a "Why don't you see the obvious?" disposition? I want to hash things out to a fault, when it's probably better to let it go for a time...for perspective. |

Let's work on communication... For starters... what exactly is the intention of this topic?
Me, I want to keep working on personal growth. Going through a huge transformation, and although I think I'm over the peak of the process, it isn't done just yet. |

Staying positive and moving forward despite current condition. Letting the past be just that, the past. Forgive myself for wrongs I've done that others have forgave me for. Staying mobile even if it hurts.

What Do You Want to Work On
Old cars before all the computerization. Perhaps I rehash a thread that has already been done?
Perhaps. Does it really matter. Maybe my tone at times seems arrogant
It's not really "your" tone. It's the tone of word association. And so what if you're arrogant here. It's not a social group. It's random people ruled by a TOS. I want to hash things out to a fault, when it's probably better to let it go for a time...for perspective.
Most people seek fulfillment. Little different than working on old cars before all the computerization. Put discrete pieces together to build a more complex system that fulfills a unique purpose. "It's supposed to be an engine. Put this here, that there, and hook it up this way. Now push the button, step on the pedal, and look, see? it's doing what I know it's supposed to be doing." That's fulfilling. "I don't know what it is, could be anything. This part looks like it can go here, or there. Hmmm...if we put it here rather than there, leave this thing off, put this random piece of something wherever, hmmm, I twisted this, and looked at that, and it's doing this other thing entirely and I don't know how it's going to affect me, or what it's doing but I know it's doing something?" That's scary. People like order and fulfilling expectations. Order is efficiency, less effort, less fear, less uncertainty, less change, less stress. Hashing things out to a fault is just a means of trying to control something. A place for everything and everything in its place doing what it's supposed to be doing, with subjective bias determining what things are supposed to be doing. Subjective bias determined by figuring out a place for everything, and maintaining everything in its place. If you're the type that needs control, letting it go for a time...for perspective, isn't going to change that need. At best it just allows you to develop different strategies to figure out how to establish control. |

Let's work on communication... For starters... what exactly is the intention of this topic? Me, I want to keep working on personal growth. Going through a huge transformation, and although I think I'm over the peak of the process, it isn't done just yet. Well, it looks like you got the intention. I was thinking about New Years Resolutions and how vague they can be. I want to be better at communication as well, so when I *write* a few "specifics" it helps me organize my thoughts. I "think" this is pretty common. I should of added an "and how?"... Ie...if I want to live a healthier lifestyle...perhaps I could start small....commit to a long walk twice a week...etc. |

I want to be better at communication
Suggestions: Written Communication Write out what you want to say then reread it and edit it for accuracy before you hit submit. Read what others say then reread it again before or during typing a response. Proof Read, Proof Read, Proof Read Verbal Communication Listen and actually hear what the other person is saying. Visualize the words as if they are written in your mind. Pay attention to inflections and visual cues to the intent of what they are saying. Before speaking, pause and hear yourself saying the words before you say them. Does it make sense and relate to the conversation you are having with that person. Is it logical or emotionally driven? Listen and Hear, Think Before Talking, Listen and Hear, Think Before Talking, Listen and Hear, Think Before Talking Edited to add bbcode markup for accent |

Ah, so I got it right after all :)
It wasn't so much the title that had me confused as the link between it and your post, hihi. What I also want to work on, is getting a little bit more structure in my life. As it is I do what I want when I want it. That is nice, but you easily get kinda lost and/or end up not doing all that much. So I bought an A3 planner, printed a file with 'things to do' on them, numbered them. Now I am filling out the numbers each day on my planner so I can see what I've done. It stimulates and inspires me to do things, helps me to get of my *** and not to Mingle for too long for instance, haha. I don't like structure, so it is a very mild, loose form of structure. So far I like it! I glue rose pictures on it, because I want to emphasize my femininity. And I like roses :) |

for myself i want to work on weeding out my list of projects. while some need to be long term as both time and money permit, this list has become a tad long. Use collumns: Right away..............Later...........Much Later..........Subject to change Then you can prioritize your projects so they flow as time progresses and resources become available. I have three notebooks I keep the Right Away one handy. As I cross off things that are completed, I move Later things to the Right Away notebook and cross them off. I check my Future notebook when I have a page in my Later notebook crossed off and move some of those things up in priority. LOL then I add more Future projects...a never ending priority list. |

so true tom that future list of mine is already nearly infinite lol
part of the problem has always been difficulty passing up the freebies that will be improvements to existing stuff once they get some attention |

LOL, I organize everything. I like order, except in art. It helps me keep focus. Right now I am working on trying to stop smoking. So far this year I have only had 4 cigarettes. By now I would have smoked 4 packs. I have nico-derm patches and they help but its still hard to fight the urge to lite one up. I'm hoping that when this current pack is gone I can keep from convincing myself to buy another. I've already noticed that I breathe easier but wow and I having some weird dreams. |

Yeah, we all have our own style that makes us feel good. To me too much planning feels like a straight-jacket. I need to breathe, have a sense of freedom and strict planning does the opposite for me. |

Oh my gosh you guys! This talk of structure.
My career has been in Materials Management (which in many ways is a euphemism for "Warehouse Guy") The metaphor of not having a shiny showroom unless the backroom is organized, is not lost on me! |

I'm retired so I do what I want. But I also need a little structure, like getting up before noon or at least at noon.
Happy New Year! |
