Well. I have done both and the results are typically the same...lol.wink..
But if you are doing a lot of meet and greets coffee is cheap opposed to alcohol..... but alcohol can loosen up the conversation... and if you like each other there's always the opportunity to have a meal at the same location extending the meet and greet... Where as coffee, the best you can hope for is ...maybe a muffin..l |

Being that the legal drinking age here in Minnesota is 21 and I am only 20 I guess the pub is out. I don't drink coffee but a nice hot chocolate would be nice

Humm actually I do the drinks and appetizers at restaurants.... place you can sit and talk normally in the Bar area so you don't tie up tables..
My extent of drinking coffee is in the mornings only.. not into the Starbucks even tho I have meet some a few times at a Starbucks but it was in the winter time.. Heck even meet someone at a Whataburger for just a soda once...

It was my experience that the normal outcome for on a coffee date was a walk or a meal afterwards possibly followed by a peck on the cheek sort of good night kiss.
Alcohol, on the other hand, can lead to ummmmm unpredictable behavior.

Naw believe me even with alcohol that ain't gonna happen on the first meet for me... Sometimes it takes the alcohol to tolerate some...
But I'm only talking one or two drinks no more... If it is the first meet they will not get a peck on the cheek might get a hug that is a MIGHT~~~ and that is the extreme of what will happen on a first meet for me... |

Topic: First date: Coffee or Pub? Coffee vs. Alcohol. Which do you prefer? On a first meet, I always go for coffee. As I don't drink alcohol that much... First drink might make me too friendly. Second drink might make me laugh uncontrollably for no reason. Third drink might make me dance on the table stripped naked. ... so coffee for me on first meet... don't want to scare the bejaysus out of my date.

I wish we had real neighborhood "pubs" here. All we have are bars and fast food joints. It's really hard to find a place with any character.

It would be a coffee on offer from me on a first meet, seems less intimate and more formal since you don't know if it's going to go any further than that cup of coffee. |
