Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me Let's pretend we're just two people and You're not better than me I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep What do you feel when you look in the mirror Are you proud How do you sleep while the rest of us cry How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye How do you walk with your head held high Can you even look me in the eye And tell me why Dear Mr. President Were you a lonely boy Are you a lonely boy Are you a lonely boy How can you say No child is left behind We're not dumb and we're not blind They're all sitting in your cells While you pave the road to hell What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay I can only imagine what the first lady has to say You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine How do you sleep while the rest of us cry How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye How do you walk with your head held high Can you even look me in the eye Let me tell you bout hard work Minimum wage with a baby on the way Let me tell you bout hard work Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away Let me tell you bout hard work Building a bed out of a cardboard box Let me tell you bout hard work Hard work Hard work You don't know nothing bout hard work Hard work Hard work Oh How do you sleep at night How do you walk with your head held high Dear Mr. President You'd never take a walk with me Would You? |

It never needed to happen.
Another moment of loss of life in man's history, another time of loss and shame... of people's kids, and mothers, and fathers... Soldiers and civilians.. No justification... and now...an economy collapsing, and more women and children, and parents left to scrabble for survival. Well done Mr President... |

There are soliders there from all over the world. Not everyone thinks about that but I do. And since terrorism is a global concern, everyone has a right to an opinion on whether or not we should still be in Iraq.
I really think our resources would be better used if we stayed at home for the most part and spent the money protecting our own borders, so that at least they could not get into our country. The value of the US dollar has plummeted in the last year or two. Used to be, 1.45 Canadian to 1.00 US. But now it is more like .96 Canadian to 1.00 US. And our dollar has lost value as compared to just about every currency in the world. And I really think it has to do with our out of control spending in that same war. They just keep printing money because they can get away with it. |

Gypsy, No secret that Canadian troops are in Iraq. That's where some of the guys from JTF2 are, at the request of the Americans.
|

I'm betting most places in the world know the Canadians are in the middle east. Except americans. Some of them still think of canada as an american protectorate.
But some of us, myself included, still remember what you guys did for us during the *last* Iranian hostage crisis. I say *last*, because its looking more and more like we're gonna get caught up again, and your PM will get another middle-of-the-night phone call from us ... |

Well said Gypsy.

Waz-up Gypsy?Long time no hear/nor see.I've been busy getting my butt banned concerning Censorship:(That's a beautiful song by Pink. After I heard that tune I req.friendship from her on MySpace. And the vid.on Utube is very powerful. The music industry is saying controversial of course.Does it remind U of when the Dixie Chicks came under fire 4 the same reason.Awwwwwww!the truth hurts huh?I've lost a few friends on this site over this subject.I am a proud honorable veteran from 101st Airborne who has served his country well. But I am dead against this war w/Iraq.I could give U a grocery list as 2 why I am but many of U know some of the reasons beyond the fabled B.S.that the media feeds us.Bush can cram his oil agenda up his arse.If the cause was justifiable or hostile forces or terrorists attack on our homeland I will quickly place my uniform & beret back on my head & take up my weapons.Well that's my rant 4 now.I might get banned again or lose more frinds hey?(lmao)Take care Gypsy.Godspeed!Cybear(((bear~hug))):=)

Canada doesn't know if they are in Iraq or not gypsy, or they arent willing to tell the truth!!
Publicly they say no, and the most I can find are the 31 SF troops that participated in the rescue mission when the 2 Canadians were taken Hostage! If they are smart, they will stay out! Non-US Forces in Iraq - February 2007 As of August 23, 2006, there were 21 non-U.S. military forces contributing armed forces to the Coalition in Iraq. These 21 countries were: Albania, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. However, in the August 23, 2006 Iraq Weekly Status Report (Slide 27) the State Department listed 27 foreign countries as contributing troops to the Coalition in Iraq. The additional four countries were Japan, Portugal, Singapore and the Ukraine. In addition, that same Weekly Status Report listed 34 countries (including the US) as maintaining personnel in Iraq (as part of the Coalition, UNAMI, or NATO). The State Department reported that Fiji was contributing troops though UNAMI and that Hungary, Iceland, Slovenia, and Turkey were assisting with the NATO training mission. However, it is unclear whether Hungary actually maintained any forces in Iraq as part of NATO or UNAMI since its government announced the complete withdrawal of troops in December 2004. In testimony before the Senate Armed Services committee on August 3, 2006, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld described the coalition in Iraq as composed of 34 allies (plus the US). As of June 13, 2006, MNF-I reported that 27 countries (including the US) maintained responsibility over the six major areas of Iraq. Since that time, Japan has withdrawn all of its forces from Iraq. For the purposes of this tally, only countries that contribute troops as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom are counted. Thursday, October 14, 2004 Prime Minister Paul Martin reaffirmed Ottawa's stance that it will not commit troops to Iraq, saying Canada should instead play a role where it can "make a substantial difference." March 27 2003 "OTTAWA - Ottawa now admits that some Canadian soldiers are in Iraq, even though Canada refused to join the U.S.-led war against Saddam Hussein Thirty-one Canadians are with U.S. and British troops in the Gulf as part of a military exchange, and a British army officer told CBC News that some of the Canadians are in combat. In Afghanistan, although there were none involved in the initial attack there have been as many as 15,000. Mostly operating as forward air controllers and as Garrison security. There are a couple thousand there now; Following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 in the United States, Canada became the third largest contributor to the NATO-led invasion of Afghanistan, behind the United States and the United Kingdom. Of the approximately 15,000 Canadian troops who have been stationed in Afghanistan, 2,500 remain as the standard complement as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). |
