I think for a while the fashion trend was the homeless look.
Jeans that are well worn, looking kind of dirty, not like solid indigo.
Loose fitting clothes, like jeans below their underwear band, layers with flannel.
Facial hair and beards.
Disheveled "bed head" hair.
"Dad bod" with the beer belly and eating kinda crappy food.
I remember a few years ago on the other dating site forums a few people were asking whether or not someone would go dumpster diving...err urban scavenging...with them on a first date.
And I've seen an episode or two of COPS where the police respond to homeless domestic dispute calls, or had reports of homeless people doing it in the back of the U-hauls they broke into.

Plus there's lots of people that give them free food, money, and build houses for them. That's like Valentines day!
