Topic: You remind me of my father | |
---|---|
If a chick tells you that there are so many things about you that remind you of her late father, is that like a bad thing?
This is a father she really loved & was very close to & she was the favorite daughter of that father... Would that be like good or bad for a man to hear? |

And this is a chick one has already been intimate with

...I would say that's a great thing...my dad is my hero..he may not be with me in the flesh..but when I am gifted with someone or something that reminds me of him...I sometimes think my admiration of my father is one of the reasons I am still single...he was such a gentleman.....anyhow..sounds more positive than negative ..if she's smiling when she says it..great..if she's crying or yelling...not so good...but as sweet as you are...hmmm..it's good

They say (Who? Who?) that boys marry their
mothers (type) and girls marry their fathers (type.) If they are normal :-) All good. |

I don't know man. If you're looking to be somebody's "father" in a relationship, and hey a lot of relationships work well that way, then go for it. Me personally? I don't want to be the one making all the decisions all the time, or get called on the phone every time she has a hang-nail or wants to know whether to buy lo-fat or 2% milk.

It all depends.
If they are mature about it, and admire characteristics, then it's a good thing. If they are immature, or otherwise mentally off, such that they think you are a replacement for their father in some way, it's probably not so good. A more obvious version of the same basic thing: imagine a woman tells you you remind her of her brother. If she thinks her brother is a wonderful person, and always wanted a man she could actually love as a mate who had the same character, it's a good thing. But if she feels like she's WITH her brother when she's with you, it's probably not so good. |

I think if a woman tells a man she is dating that he is like her father, it's a compliment. I have never said it to anyone, but I know that one of my favorite qualities about my father is that he is a calm/optimist person. I very, very rarely heard my parents argue about anything. It's the kind of relationship I look for.

I'm sure she meant it as a compliment but it doesn't mean much beyond that. Most women will often say off-beat things like that which they often haven't pondered much upon. It's superficial and only means something for that moment. When you'll remind her of it in an argument then you'll really know what she thinks about you.

This first part of Igor's reply ^^^^ Personally I do NOT want a man who reminds me of my dad. But.. I do automatically look for certain characteristics my dad had. Strength of character, love of nature, ability to feel deep love and emotions, that sort of thing. But you know Romeo, why don't you ask her? What is it about you that reminds her of him? If she tells you, you may feel totally utterly flattered! . . . |

The guy is going to try his *** off and the girl is going to use him. RUN LIKE SHE'S THE PLAGUE. I mean, do what you want, just hate to see good people getting abused. |
