happy FLYDAY ma peeps'n lurkers
oh my.. it's FRIDAY THE 13th.. *insert twilight zone theme song music*
actually... Some consider Friday the 13th lucky "In many Spanish speaking countries, Friday the 13th is a lucky day," according to timeanddate.com. In fact, the Spanish edition of the movie “Friday the 13th” was renamed “Tuesday the 13th” (“Martes 13”), because that is believed to be the unluckiest day of the year. "It is also a common belief that Friday the 13 is a particularly lucky day for children to be born." this ^ from USA today... |

a lil more trivia for ya...
Why Is the Number 13 Unlucky? The Last Supper The most commonly cited origin ties back to Christianity. There were 13 people seated at the Last Supper, Jesus and his twelve apostles, and the 13th to sit down is traditionally said to have been Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus. This gave rise to a longstanding superstition that having 13 guests at a table was courting death, though this specific association appears to have solidified in the medieval period rather than in early Christianity. Norse Mythology An older parallel comes from Norse mythology. In the story, 12 gods were feasting in the great hall of Valhalla when Loki, the trickster god, showed up uninvited as the 13th guest. Loki then manipulated the blind god Höd into killing his brother Balder, the beloved god of light, with a mistletoe-tipped arrow. The death of Balder plunged the world into mourning. 12 as the "Complete" Number There's also a simpler mathematical/cultural explanation: Western civilization is steeped in the number 12 as a symbol of completeness. Twelve months, twelve zodiac signs, twelve hours on a clock, twelve tribes of Israel, twelve labors of Hercules, twelve gods of Olympus. The number 13 breaks that neat pattern, it's the interloper, the one too many. The clinical term for fear of the number 13 is triskaidekaphobia — coined in 1908 in Religion and Medicine: The Moral Control of Nervous Disorders by Elwood Worcester, Samuel McComb, and Isador H. Coriat. |

Well, no, but ALMOST everything is about me. I DO leave 1 in 10,000 for others. I'm very generous that way & why to know me is to love me.

"It is also a common belief that Friday the 13 is a particularly lucky day for children to be born." this ^ from USA today... I was born on Friday 13th :) I have always heard it used to be a good and positive day until church persecuted the Knights Templar on a Friday the 13th. Ever since Friday the 13th was made out to be a bad day. Friday itself was always good as it's named after Frigg, the Norse goddess of motherhood, marriage, fertility, the home. As for the number 13... I believe that it's church's doing that it got a bad name. Especially related to the Knights Templar story. These knights had become very influential an rich and the French king felt threatened by them. If memory serves, he owed the templars money that he had borrowed, and he couldn't pay them back. He then schemed with the pope to have the Knights killed. Prior to that the pope had worked with the Templars, had supported them etc. But he also wasn't too keen they were getting so influential. So they captured them, tortured them in the most horrible ways so in the end they confessed to whatever they were forced to confess. And of course they were made to confess to evil, diabolic stuff and heresy. As for moons... every couple years we have a 13th full moon. Zodiac sign... there originally was a 13th; Snake, in between Scorpio and Sagittarius. It was removed from the Zodiac at some point. |

I'm a bit of a Templar fan so I get what you're saying here.. they were seen as being too influential AND rich.. richer than the church itself and if I remember correctly, the deeper reason as to why they were tortured & killed however.. the church never did find their treasures and later regretted their action (the greedy gits) but couldn't undo what had been done.. all this was after they used them to fight the churches many bloody "holy" battles to gain wealth.. that snake zodiac sign is not something I've ever heard of but very interesting indeed.. goes ta show ya.. you can learn something new every day

"Boring" might be the one adjective I've never heard applied to myself. Could be peeps were just being polite in my presence but congratulations on finding a new aspect "all about me" that I might have to ruminate on.

You got that right!! (about church) It used the Templars then stabbed them in the back when getting rid of the Templars served them better. But the French king instigated that whole thing. The star sign Snake is short and also shortens either Scorpio or Sag time -or both- as of course there's only 365 days in a year. I believe Snake is 14 days only. I don't know who decided to get rid of it. It does mean people born in that time period may find that the qualities of Snake suit them better than Scorpio or Sag. There are people who adhere to the 13 signs. My own birthday is May 13th, so it doesn't matter to me, hihi. I'm a spring girlie! Born on Friday the 13th :) |
