I did not blame those of today for the past, I am blaming them for now and today. People are racist today.

At last we agree on something. That's exactly right. PEOPLE are racist todat. But not just whites. All races, religions, and nationalities have racists. My point is, it's just as wrong for one group to say something offensive as it is another group. I'm just saying it's not right for one group to be able to say offensive remarks and get away with it, while another group is villified for doing the same thing. And that's the whole gist of this discussion.

Okay and I am saying be mature and stop using the blame game for an excuse to continue a wrong practice. Transcend and grow. The one who can show they are the mature and just one will be the better person, without using childish excuses, "but he did it first". Get my meaning? If we want to get into who did it first.....well you know the history of the US.

I actually considered myself to be a fan of the guys show, however, I think everyone should listen to the tape on msnbc. It wasn't just an angry rant, he actually said if his daughter Lisa or his son Leland brought home a N***** he would say F*** You. That is racist.

Hey Knox. I didn't say it was alright for ANYONE to make remarks about another race, including white people. Nowhere do I state it's acceptable. However, it IS reality. It's not fair. It's not just. It's not appropriate. It happens. So, if black people decide it's ok to use THAT word...let them.

I as an intelligent black female has not ever and would not ever use the word toward another person black or otherwise. I think even amongst young black people the word is over used and shows a form of ignorance to some degree. People need to expand their vocabulary.

Ohhh, and it wasn't an "attempt" at an answer. It WAS one. You choose not to accept it because you prefer something concrete. There is none, so if you have to ask that question, and don't like my answer...ask a black person. They'll be happy to tell you the answer.

The word B*tch is used all of the time but that doesn't mean I would call my mother that just because I was angry. The whole idea that Dog said the word because he was angry is ridiculous. He even said on the tape that this is a word that they use all of the time and he doesn't want someone to hear him saying it and selling it to the tabloids and ruin his career. That says to me the he is like most cowardly racists and he would rather seethe hatred in private amongst his friends but not in public where it will hurt his pockets because he knows that Americans of all races like his show.

It is also annoying that somehow Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have become the national spokepersons for all of black america. These two have a habit of saying some of the most asinine things ever.

I do understand, the black folks I know feel the same, but I do give them credit for their attempts to shake the status quo on some things. They may be coming across badly but they are still addressing a valid issue.

His statements were definitely rooted in hate and racism. That really can't be argued.

There are two sides to what was happening though... him definitely being in the wrong doesn't clear the person he was mad at from being wrong as well - even if there were racist remarks being thrown around.

It's not coincidental that the whole recorded tirade was about his son's girlfriend trying to personally ruin his career by selling out his use of a racist word to the Enquirer for a buck... which is exactly what happened and the reason we all know about it.

He was very angry in his recorded remarks, knowing what was coming. Considering that his career WAS sold out for a buck and NOT for legal, ethical, or moral reasons involving racism - some of that anger makes sense and exaggerated his response.

That doesn't excuse his racist remarks at all though - that was his mistake and he's paying for it, probably for the rest of his life and career. So don't assume I'm defending him or not saying he isn't a racist and should get off with no repercussions. This is just a part of the whole story that is generally being ignored.

Please don't beat me up too much. Just pointing out that it's not as black or white as people are making it out to be.

This may be a little bit off the topic of Dog but within the same thought- Why is it that everyones first defense to not being a racist is "I have friends that are black."? We all know that there is a big difference between being an aquaintance with someone that you may be ok with sharing a meal or conversation with and actually have that someone live in your home with you or date/marry or have children with someone in your own family.

===============================================================

So, it's OK for one group to say anything they want, yet string up another group for doind the same thing? It's thinking like that,Blancalatina, that explains why we're in the mess we're in.

===============================================================

================================================================

But, Dragoness, YOU"RE the one who did this. In your earlier post, YOU justified blacks calling whites "cracker" and "honkey" because whites did it first. Matter of fact, that was your entire justification for your argument. And NOW you're switching in mid-stream?

Look, I never said what Dog did was right. It wasn't. But the two of you here simply continue to excuse and attempt to justify the "reverse racism" standard that is a growing problem in this country. What if you two, and me for that matter, was held accountable for EVERYTHING we ever said in our lives? Chances are, we'd all be in jail right now. We should just move on. But we won't. But Jesse, Al, Snoop, Oprah, and others will be allowed to say ANYTHING, no mater how offensive.

And THAT is the real tragedy in America today.

Knox in this instance your idea of "reverse racism" is a misnomer based on the definition of racism. Racism is the belief that a particular was is superior to another. In American society it is blatantly obvious who runs the country and who holds the purse strings otherwise there would be no such thing as minorities. As far as the people that you mentioned saying whatever they want and getting away with it I would have to say that those people certainly have a hell of a lot more money and power for the most part than your average American and that could be why they are given a pass. Does that make it right? Absolutely not.
