Anytime a "slang" is used to determine or define what someone is, is racism. It can be subtle, it can be blatant. When someone's skin color, nationality, race, religion, creed are coming in to question, it's racism.

Excuse me, but NOT everyone uses the "N" word. Some of us find it just as offensive as if someone were to call me or my children "spicks" or "wops". It's the same end result...racism.

I don't teach it to my children, and I'll be damned if one of them will use ANY racial term...especially not in front of me. My boyfriend IS black and his ex called him that once. It's unacceptable behavior as far as I am concerned, even in "jest".

Racism will not go away until people stop being that way. If you want to stop hearing about it, do something in yourself and your life to stop the perpetuation of the crime against humanity. Stop being part of the problem and be part of the solution. Dog is showing a perfect example of how to perpetuate the problem.

Read earlier post about the use of the word amongst themselves. It does not mean the same thing as it means for you to say it or the thought that you portray using it. That is why.

It just makes me sick that's all. I hate hearing people defend what is clearly WRONG. So before I blow a gasket and get upset, I will just say if you believe that dog is a great guy, just stay the hell away from me as I probably think you're quite pathetic.

WarDriver, it's up the THEM between their own race to decide why and if it's acceptable. There are certain things within the "white" culture that are acceptable but not that other races can "say" to whites. Each culture has the same "issue". Why does anyone care WHY they are allowed to between each other? I don't. As I stated, my boyfriend is Black and I wouldn't think twice about offending him or anyone else if I already KNOW it's not acceptable.

I lived in Iran for almost 3 years when I was younger. It wasn't any different within that race either. It's cultural. Nothing more.

Respect for other cultures however, is taught.
