I've had a pretty good stroke of luck this past month.

Suddenly ghosts from the past are coming out of the woodwork, and I am questioning integrity and intentions.

I'm trying not to be overly judgmental, but it is really hard to tell who is genuine aside from a solid group of old friends.

How do I address these people (many of whom I haven't heard from in years)?

It really all depends. I have connected with old friends and we just pick back up where we left off and catch up to date what all is going on..

I don't have a problem doing things that way and never think anything about it..

But now it depends if that works or not.. How did it end? Did y'all just go your own way or was their a fallen out?

Also were they a friend that took advantage of your friendship ect..

Only time it makes me wonder what a persons intentions are is if they have shown not be be what one would call a friend.. Then yea I would keep my eyes open and make sure they would not use me again. Trust has to be earned once it is broken.

To be honest. DON'T address them.
Ignore them completely.
Let them say that money has changed you & try to tear you down.
They can't. You know the truth.
The truth is they want your money to change them.

Damn moochers !

Be judgmental! You're rich now... you can afford to be judgmental.

Ask yourself, were those people around when you needed help to move the body? If the answer is no, those people are not your friends. Lock the doors.

Yep, with the event of all these social media sites springing up, it just seems that everyone is gathering numbers.....School friends, college buddies....who never ever kept in touch...suddenly want to re-ignite the good old days...by sending all these invites. I ignore all...if you never socialized then...why now...is the way I look at it...for all the lovely ladies, yup its the same treatment...sorry...

If you feel they are excited for you, and wishing you the best. It may just mean they are excited for.

But if they try to sell you something, start talking about how 'rough' there life is right now, or just plain ask for money (even a loan) then you know where they are at.

If they're local to you, you could always take them to dinner/lunch if they don't at least offer to pay...and just assume you are...then you know.

Just because you have some money now doesn't mean you're obligated to spend it on anyone but yourself.

"How do I address these people (many of whom I haven't heard from in years)?"

Simple. Don't Address Them At All.
But If You Must; Keep The Exchange Brief, Polite, & Impersonal
After a certain age, who needs more shallow, insincere, fair-weather "Friends"?
